We ordered the Port-au-Prince Bowl to go. You get to pick two mains and 4 sides. We got the Halal Stew Chicken and the vegan Legume. For sides, we got Black Rice, Sweet Plantains, Green Plantains, Rice & Beans. Wow, what a superb meal. Everything was delicious. They also go a little light in the salt which I loved. There wasn't a single dish in there that I didn't like. The chicken was tender, the stew and legumes were flavorful, the rice was well cooked, the tostones were crispy, and the sweet plantains were truly ripe. I had been eagerly anticipating my visit to this much-talked-about eatery after seeing all the buzz on social media and television. Unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations. While the staff was friendly and welcoming, there was a little lack of coordination in the service but not so much that it detracted from the overall service. I decided to order the fried chicken, hoping for a flavorful experience, that Creole food is typical of, but I was sorely disappointed to find that it was completely devoid of seasoning--absolutely none! The taste was bland, and I found myself unable to enjoy it at all. After a few bites, I realized I couldn't force myself to eat it, so I ended up tossing it in the trash. Given that I was already some distance away from the restaurant at my next stop, returning it wasn't an option. I did take the time to call the restaurant and voice my concerns, but they l didn't offer any form of credit or compensation for the issue, so it only reinforced my decision not to return, as I couldn't see myself taking another chance on a meal that fell so flat. Ok so shout out to the owner, food was amazing!! The portions were crazy good for the price; that's a win for a foodie like me. But let's get straight to the point, this griot was beyond delightful! That pork was nicely crisp and moist. 10 out of 10!! Both red and black rice were flavorful, and the Mac n cheese was definitely mac'n. We also had the fried chicken and oh wow that skin was as crispy as a pork rind no lie. But the star of the show was the griot; best I've had yet. I was first introduced to Gourmet Kreyol, located near City Hall, through my daughter's social media internship. Fast forward to today--my dad suggested I order takeout from Gourmet Kreyol, and since I was in the mood for Haitian food, I gave it a try. I won't compare it to my mom's cooking (most Haitians will say no one cooks better than their own family!), but because my household does a lot of takeout, I can confidently compare it to other Haitian restaurants. By far, Gourmet Kreyol ranks in my top five. I ordered the black rice, shrimp creole (made to order), and a side of string beans and carrots. The food was both flavorful and satisfying. The black rice was cooked to perfection, the shrimp creole was well-seasoned and delicious, and the vegetables were tender and fresh. The staff was great to interact with. My first time ordering and I can say this is some of the best Haitian Food I've had! I ordered the Okap Bowl which comes with two sides and a choice of protein. I picked Griot, Black rice($3 extra, but well worth it!) and Mac N cheese($1.99 again well worth it!). The bowl automatically comes with a small sides of piklils and sauce! This place is A1!! It's one of the few Haitian restaurants that you can be in and out in a few minutes (might take a little longer for snapper (Friday/Saturday) or something fried but it will be FRESH). One of my favorite orders there is black rice, stewed turkey, mac n cheese, and fried plantain. I also like their oxtail (Wednesdays) and goat (Thursdays). 1 star (and that's generous): I don't even know where to begin, but let me just say--NEVER again. I went to this so-called "Haitian restaurant" expecting real food and left with rage in my soul and fat in my takeout tray. $34 for what?!For rice overload, microscopic protein, and an environment that looked and smelled like neglect? Be serious. First off, customer service was absolutely ass. No welcome, no smile, just pure attitude like I did something to them. Mind you, I'm spending my hard-earned money here. Then they hand me this sad excuse for a meal--a mountain of dry-ass rice with what I guess was supposed to be meat, but it was literally just chunks of fat. No seasoning. No love. Just disrespect in a styrofoam box. Let's talk about the scenery.It was giving "I don't care" energy all around. Sticky counters, dusty fans, and that musty smell that hits you in the chest like bad news. I should've turned around and left the moment I walked in, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Never again. They finessed me out of \$34. All that rice is clearly a scam tactic so you fill up fast and forget you barely got any meat. Joke's on them--I didn't even get meat. I got FAT. Very authentic Haitian food here! I first tried them at two Caribbean festivals help in Boston and Cambridge! I later found out they had a brick and mortar location on blue hill avenue and tried a food tray to see if they were consistent and man were they!! I had legume,griot with rice, bean sauce and both fried testones and sweet plantains with potato salad and macaroni! Chefs kiss abound! read more

They went above and beyond a presentation...they answered questions in both English and Haitian Creole, and even prepared food for ALL of the students in attendance! Visited their food truck. Food was okay but portion is small. Also, I got the stewed vegetables which was supposed to come with two sides (rice and beans or rice and plantains). However she made me choose between plantains or rice so the meal felt incomplete. Can't eat stew without rice! read more
