Never been to the restaurant but have ordered multiple times via UberEats. I may actually visit eventually as the experience might be completely different than just ordering something delivered. But here is the thing, while I thoroughly ENJOYED the food I've received each time. They are practically always missing something on the order - like 9 out of 10 times. Yes, I am able to always get a refund through the delivery app BUT it sure gets annoying after a while. Maybe they get really busy...maybe they just don't have it together when it comes to packing to-go orders...or maybe, lol, they just don't give a crap? I don't know. My friends had an engagement party last night and last minute we decided to order a ton of food for the whole party And everything was delicious their food is always great. The only reason they don't get five stars is they said it would be there in 35 minutes. We're in Belmont. They're in Somerville. It's a 2025 minute ride so there's no way that that's accurate because they have to cook all the food and we ordered a lot of food and we got everything we ordered and it was delicious but you know it was an hour and a half to two hours after we ordered so the only thing that I would say is they could work a little better on the transparency because I know when we placed the order there was no way they could do that. read more

This is the best Haitian food in Massachusetts. I have only been inside once, but I have ordered pick-up from here dozens upon dozens of times over the past 5 years. My friends usually places the order and picks it up, so I can't speak to the customer service directly, but they have always been treated very well by the staff, and we typically call ahead and it takes 20-30 minutes depending on the day. My favorite is their Tasso Kabrit (Fried Goat), Diri Blanc ak Sos Pwa, avek Bannann Pizea. I like their Legume, Diri Djon Djon (Black Mushroom Rice, when available) and Pasta Salad as well. They have amazing Haitian Rhum Cake, and Kremas in season. Their prices vary, and you can get a small plate for $15 or a large plate for $20 and they're both extremely filling. I've never been dissatisfied with their food. Their plates come with a small house salad and Pikliz upon request. I've been lucky to experience many different meals from different households, as well as different Haitian restaurants across the East Coast. This place is simply the best that there is in the local community & state, and I hope they continue to stay open for a long time. read more

We have been to Highland a few times and overall the food has been good. We typically get fried goat and fried pork with legume and rice. My boyfriend made the comment that it is more expensive that some of its competitors and I do think the meat portions are on the smaller side, but they give you rice for days. Depending on the day the service can be good or bad. It seems like those taking orders can get impatient with customers. We also were missing some of our order last time we went. the place could probably use a deep clean and I wished it smelled a bit better, but it has been fine for take out. We might try it again. The pork is always better to me than the other meats, so I recommend that. read more

I absolutely love the flavors of the food. The goat is a little bit dry. But it's not as bad as some other places. The rice is actually packed with flavor. The plantains were yummy a little dry. Good thing this all comes with a yummy sauce. I can use the sauce for the fried goat, the rice and the plantains. The only downside to this plate comes with pickled veggies but they were rotten . It was very chaotic and took very long time to get the food (I ordered online ahead of time and waited in line for 45 minutes to be attended to). And even though the food was seasoned well, I ordered the creole shrimp, and the shrimp didn't taste fresh at all, unfortunately. If you're looking for "good customer service", by American standards, you may find that the approach is different here. The focus goes into the food. So, this was my first time dining in at a sit-down Haitian restaurant. A large group of us wanted to experience the vibrant Black cultural scene in Boston, and Uber took us to this place during a short break in between conference activities. At least one person in our party was Haitian American, so we had assistance in figuring out what we should order based on our palates. They were fairly accommodating to our large group, and the dining room had plenty of space. The decor and furniture were dated, and there was like a plastic cover on things, which made it feel like a Caribbean grandma's house. I hope updates are in the works. The food was decent. I had black rice, creole chicken, and passion fruit juice. It took a while for all of our orders to come out, but I have been to Caribbean restaurants that were much worse, especially with such an unexpectedly large group. Then we had 3 different protein dishes- fried goat, goat stew, and fried pork along with sides of black rice (a delicious mushroom pea rice) and plantains. The plantains were more like tostones rather than maduros. You don't really need an extra side of them, because the meat actually comes with plantains. The dishes also come with awesome spicy cabbage and carrots. To drink, thehave a varied fresh fruit juice selection. I'll definitely get one next time. Probably better for take-out than dine-in...the interior looks like it needed renovations 30 years ago, kind of dark and drab and depressing, plus there was a bad smell like there was a dead mouse or rat rotting away somewhere in the walls or floor. This is the main reason I probably won't be coming back unless it's just to take out. The food itself was pretty good, nice big portions at reasonable prices. Many of the main entrees come in a "regular" vs "large" size---the latter means you get double the rice as well as a house salad (just plain iceberg lettuce with sliced tomatoes), not really recommended unless you're really starving or want to take some food home with you. Service was kind of indifferent, not terrible but not great either...maybe because we were there for the first time? My only complaint was that I wasn't crazy about the fried plantains, they were pretty tasteless, if someone had told me they were fried potatoes I wouldn't have had any strong reason to doubt them...anyway, you have to use the fried plantains basically as dipping bread, for the not-bad gravy. Really 3.5 stars, but Yelp doesn't do half stars so I'll be generous and round up. :) read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I used to love getting the legume there. The girl in front seemed like she wasn't very organized with all the orders. They placed all the sauces in the bottom of a paper bag. I placed the food on the floor of the car. I wasn't driving crazy or anything. My boyfriend lifted the bag and the sauce soaked through the whole bottom and all of our food fell to the ground. We called to ask if they could refund us. We know it was not our fault but the way the restaurant irresponsibly packed our food. The lady was rude and basically said it was our fault and the way we carried the bag. It was unacceptable. Clearly if a card was in it, it would be poking out. It's 9pm the restaurant closes at 11pm so I'm not sure what her issue was besides her life. They have fifty-'leven tables that are less than 1% occupied. You are not rushing to seat anyone. She keeps on coming back taking stuff before asking if we are done. She takes my water that is clearly full and sticks her finger in it to remove it. I told her I wasn't done but to please bring me back a new one. Clearly cause her finger was in it I don't want to drink essence of bitterness. Does she bring a new one, nope. My chicken was dry as hell anyways. If you must go here order and pick up so your vibe doesn't get killed by miserable people. My date didn't want to tip her obviously. I tipped her because I've been a server and understand her pain. I've had take-out from this restaurant on several occasions and have no complaints on that. Last night my family dined here and for the most part, our experience was positive. I Give them 3 stars because for take-out they are great, but for dining-in there is much room for improvement. If I could give them a 3.5, I would. First off, it's pretty difficult to find parking in this area. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food came out in a timely manner especially with it being a party of 8. Three of us ordered a little later than the rest of the group and unfortunately there wasn't any more rice and beans(Diri kole ak pwa wouj). I didn't understand that as it was 8pm and the restaurant closed at 10 I believe. They offered us alternatives such as white rice with sauce pois or black rice. I opted for the white rice and sauce poi which was good. We also ordered the fried fish and asked for the smaller one which cost $17.00. When our order came out, we(us 3) received the large fried fish which cost ($20.00) because they were out of the smaller one. While I don't mind the price, it would have been nice to know before we were served. They didn't offer dessert which I wasn't really surprised about lol. The restaurant also looks a bit dated. Redecorating/renovating the place could help. But for the most part, it was a pleasant experience. read more
