This made my move that much more efficient. My second experience, they moved my then-boyfriend and I (we were in separate units) from our apartment complex to our new house. Super quick and careful with our stuff. Booking is made easily online or by phone--you can book the number of movers you want for the amount of time you need them and pay all at once. When they couldn't figure out how to use the ramp that came with the trailer it should have been a red flag... they decided to load the trailer without the ramp, just lifting everything up. Odd, but not a big deal for me. We bought/provided over 60 moving blankets and a dozen paper pads for our furniture to be wrapped up safely. Part of the labor we hired them for was to wrap the furniture with these pads. They wrapped a couple of pieces but didn't really tape the blankets around.. just a couple of loops of shrink wrap and they called it done. We started seeing them move furniture out of the house unwrapped and when we questioned them, we were told they were wrapping the furniture in the trailer, that they had taken a bunch of the blankets out already. We were basically told to relax, they had it under control. We didn't rush the guys.. they were getting paid by the hour so there was no reason to rush, but they were done fairly quickly. But not after almost punching a hole in our drywall when they lost control of a dresser coming down the stairs. I had to run to Lowe's to pick up stuff to patch the multiple large dents (not dings, dents!) in the drywall and they didn't offer to cover that. Not a huge deal... it was like $10 in stuff from Lowe's. Fast forward a week later and the trailer is down in Florida ready to be unloaded. I opened the door and found a couple of broken ceramic pots laying up against the door. Ok, not the end of the world... but they weren't wrapped at all. Then I saw stacks of blankets... many of them still in the plastic wrap that they came in (new, unused). Then I noticed we had furniture that just had a blanket draped over it but not even secured to it. There were grease marks on furniture where they were resting up against garage tools -- with no blankets around the furniture at all! My $3000 pottery barn sectional couch was even being used as a prop to hold up a bicycle... by the pedal (see picture!) To this day I have no idea how the bike pedal did not puncture the fabric of the couch... but it only dented it. A miracle. There was other minor damage to furniture... dining room table legs unwrapped banging up against each other. Really.. .nothing between them. Why wouldn't they use the blankets we had available for them to use?? Another questionable choice was leaning a concrete bench end up against my leather sofa with nothing in between (see picture!). Even the sofa cushions were taken and wedged between the wall of the trailer and other furniture.. leaving grease and other dirt on the couch pillows and cushions. Oh and they broke a leg off of a dresser... and i had a sign taped to the front saying it had a weak leg. Didn't matter, apparently. Long story short - everything that we packed and boxed up made the trip just fine. But the things they were paid to wrap up and load were haphazardly put in the truck, unwrapped with blankets even though we had 2 dozen left over unused! They were just straight up lazy. You can use these guys to move you into a new place or unload some heavy equipment.... but if you care about your furniture and goods then I wouldn't recommend them at all. I stewed about this for a while trying to decide if it was better to just keep silent and leave no review or to speak out and warn others.

(1) John did not come in advance to see what needed to be moved, or to give me a final estimate. He came AFTER the move to tell me that they couldn't move the piano and that I needed to get someone else to do it. As a result, it was another two months till the piano was finally moved! (2) In addition, the estimate he gave me over the phone was almost doubled by the time the move was finished. I paid only $3,000 less for an in-city move, than for the interstate move we made the following year. (3) The workers were not supervised. They obviously hadn't been trained to move fragile antique furniture. Three valuable pieces were damaged, one a delicate 200+ year-old corner cabinet. The worker had just thrown a pad over it and didn't even secure it. I honestly couldn't believe my eyes. John did get the pieces fixed, although the handle of a beautiful Asian cabinet is still missing. John was a nice person. The workers worked at the speed of light. (Too fast, I think in retrospect.) But I regret having chosen this company.

They had all the equipment needed and probably hauled off about 20 bags of old pine straw, magnolia leaves, and general yard detritus. I'm happy that this non-profit is expanding into other areas and giving former incarcerated folks the chance to learn a new skill.

They were trying to disconnect the previous owner's washer/dryer, turned off the water with too much strength and the pipe burst. Instantly there were leaks to the lower floor, walls, master bedroom etc. Had to get emergency water damage people (Boss disaster) to come out, costs more than $2,000. Also had to have floors redone, costs more than $1,000), wall and paint repairs, costs more than $700, and 5 days of high powered fans throughout house to dry out (expensive energy bill). After multiple attempts to have company contribute to bills for the damage they caused, company has stopped responding.

Even though Mr Pleasant movers were the most expensive of all quotes, they had a high rating so we…read morechose them. BIG MISTAKE! When they packed our 'very well wrapped furniture' they did NOT use anything to secure these pieces in place (even though we offered binding cords), therefore heavy items (which were placed on top of fragile items) fell forward and damaged many things. It was so bad that we could not open the PODS due to so much shifting. The professional movers who unloaded us also took pictures for us since there was so much damage and said it was the worst packing job they had ever seen. We even told Phil up front that certain antiques needed to be packed with extra care. Every one had damage. When we called Phil and sent him these pictures, he stated 'I packed the PODS but not responsible after that.' They have NO insurance and basically took no blame. Therefore fixing everything was very expensive and on us! They say a picture is worth a million words, so here goes! I wanted to post more but was at my photo limit.
