Used this company to relocate me a few years ago and the crew was exceptional, so it was without question that I used them again. They moved me this past Saturday. Staff members prior to the move were very efficient, and easy to work with. Chris was absolutely patient, and very accommodating in scheduling and rescheduling due to changes in the unit I was being relocated too. The day of the move, a Penske truck pulled up with more than enough ample space to move me, it was actually to big. One man jumped out of the passenger side. I asked him if he wanted me to move my car as I was holding two parking spaces, and he said not a single word. He looked me dead on in the eye and did not reply...weird. The driver jumped out, came around and introduced himself followed by another guy, and additional introductions were made. All went well...or so I thought. The guys wrapped everything carefully which made me feel more at ease. They only had large items to relocate since we had already moved lighter items the day before. The guys set up everything moved into the new unit, and the driver (nicer one), even reconnected my washer and dryer. This was not done by them a few years ago. I was advised they could not do it at that time, so I was a happy camper having this service available to me. I noticed after they left that all of my dresser drawers were off track...a small thing considering that was the only thing I had to correct. Anyhow while taking out the dresser drawers, I noticed a metal rod looking thing stuffed inside one of the dressers with clothes. I didn't know what it was for. I thought maybe it was placed by the moving company on accident. Upon further inspection while putting the drawers back on track my daughter in law and I noticed that they broke a part that is bolted into the dresser for the actual drawer to go on track. The metal portion that they broke off entirely from the drawer, we compared to the other drawers, I only know to describe as the track a train would maneuver on, without it....the train would not be on track. We figured a way to put the metal rod that runs along the bottom portion of the drawer back so that we could get the drawer on track. We were able to successfully do so, but because they also broke the portion that is bolted into the dresser, it's wobbly. The only way to break the rod off and portion bolted inside of the actual dresser is to attempt to remove it several times by force..... I didn't make a huge deal because the dresser isn't falling out entirely when opened, but what bothered me was the fact that they KNOWINGLY broke it, stuffed the broken off rod in the drawer and said ABSOLUTELY nothing. I was in each unit during the move and feel that they should have told me or told the company. As I stated my crew that moved me before a few years ago was fanatical, not sure what occurred with this crew, and the fact that my dresser drawer was broken and clearly acknowledged by the rod left in the drawer which came off of the bottom, and not communicated to me was not a professional thing to do. UPDATE: I increased this review by 2 stars because the owner reached out to me personally to apologize and offer reconciliation by having someone to come out to take a look, tighten up the dresser track, along with a refund amount, and a credit towards a future move. I received a feedback email from them, replied and was contacted within ten minutes by one of the company owners. Setup appointment to help move my mom across town. Setup went fine and even got a text the day of the move with a 12-3 window of arrival. 3 o'clock comes around and no truck and no contact from company. **I am amending my initial review below because, while the moving experience was still less than ideal, this company has gone out of their way to make things right and I appreciate the effort. They had an off day and were quick to put changes in place to be sure it doesn't happen again to someone else. Everyone deserves a second chance and we would use them for a future move based on their level of care and responsiveness to our feedback.** We had a terrible moving experience today. We hired Move Buddies to pack a POD. Everything was boxed and broken down for them upon arrival. They were on time within their window but everything else went downhill from there. They are beyond SLOW. Literally, just standing around over half the time they were there and our move took 3x longer than it should have. I would have to ask several times for them to get something and they would just stare at me and wait for instructions from their lead guy. Our lead guy was ok, but the two helpers he had were weak and it is clear they haven't been at this long. They damaged our furniture before it even made it to the POD, taking actual chunks of wood out of a very expensive armoire. I am livid!! They also told us they had never packed a POD before and that we would need 2-3 more PODS to fit our things. Thankfully my husband canceled his workday to jump in and manage this disaster. We ended up fitting everything in with a little room to spare, but they went 4 hours over time and it was not at all necessary. So much standing around, checking phones and gossiping. We are very disappointed with this company and cannot say it enough....... choose elsewhere. My apprehension at hiring strangers to assist my 2 hour move from one city to the next was swiftly altered the moment I spoke to a representative on the phone. Courteous, informative and patient, I was given all necessary information and statistics with the freedom to choose based on character. I was bombarded with communication the entire experience through phone calls, text and email. At no time was I uncertain of what to expect with timing, cost and efficiency of service. My movers, Justin and Dexter, were extremely professional and I was thrilled with their care of my items and indulgence with small talk. Through the deluge of rain and unexpected high traffic, I never heard one complaint and was more than surprised at the continued service with building my bed and unwrapping items to check for damage (none of course!). To say that I would highly recommend this company is an understatement; if you willingly choose another moving company you are already set up for failure. What can I say? You rent a truck, hire them ahead and prepay $300 and then you find out an hour before they are supposed to arrive they're short staffed and will be there 2 1/2 late!! Hint for Move Buddies, if you know in the morning you're going to be short handed, CALL PEOPLE and keep them in the loop! THE MOVE BUDDIES PROMISES Always put customer first -Negative we called customer three times the day of the move to complain about the staff that was not trained, not working, damaging our items and received no assistance. When we did reach someone, we were instructed someone will return our call on Monday the move occurred on a Friday. Be on time, every time -Yes, we received a call 30 minutes before arrival however departed to the received location the driver got lost as he followed behind us, but we were still charged. Be transparent with coverage. -Sounds great. However, we were charged for shrink wrap but according to the mover an allotted amount of shrink wrap is allocated for every move so why is the customer charged. We were instructed to complain to have this credited to us. The movers wrapped items that were not needed which prolonged the time in which we were charged. Be mindful of the inflation of the rates. I asked, and it was documented on my invoice that two bedrooms will take 5-7 hours even for a local move. My move was less than 20 miles away. Uphold strict quality control -Quality! Never, we were sent individuals who were not trained. The lead mover mentioned he was with the company only a month. The second mover it was apparent he had no clue of what and how to do it. My husband had to assist to ensure no further damage to our property and contributed because things were so discombobulated. The second mover replied "I'm sorry am I in your way" as my husband proceeded to help. We moved two bedrooms in which one was broken down upon arrival. According to move buddies, this move is quoted to take and charge the customer 5-7 hours for this service. Quality ensures a tracking process to account for furniture and items. - We are missing a leg to our couch. When asked the mover stated he only removed five legs from the sofa. The leg is still missing, and our customer service representative Hunter said it is possible the mover may have been telling the truth. Again, the customer is not always right, and according to Hunter, we are liars. Although I have used Move Buddies three times and the last two time we had damages so think again. The structure of Move Buddies I understand is a small based business that has grown, but they are not able to maintain customer service satisfaction as they expand. As you can tell, I am completely dissatisfied and have expressed my concerns verbally and through writing. I spoke with Hunter, Customer Service and explained my concerns and frustration. I asked about Move Buddies Satisfaction policy, and he stated all concerns across the country go to him. If customers are not satisfied, it stops with him and "of course a sincere apology." I asked for someone to follow up to hear my concerns Hunter again declined my request and state everything stops with him. #totaldissappointment Move Buddies advertises that they have supplies to ensure a seamless move in poor weather conditions. My move happened during a rainy day, and when asked about shoe covers they do not provide those and I was informed the customer would have to offer them for the movers. If your OCD or a new mom, expect an added expense to clean your carpet and floors as they track dirt and debris in your house, nursery and child's playroom. Lastly, part of the resolution was $100 credit toward a future move and the use of their VIP moving team. I thought each teach should be a VIP team not matter who are the customers! Maintain comfortable rates Check for hidden fees. Fees are not waived no matter how poor the customer service. We were not credited back anytime for an extended 5.5 hours move even though we confirmed during the move and the lead mover that the second mover sat down on the clock and was out of shape physically. Again, the mover instructed us to ask for a credit on plastic wrapping because a portion is allotted for every move, but you will still be charged. The driver went to the wrong location, but we were still charged full rates. Train and background check each mover This is a joke! A mover engaged in casual conversation with my husband about his interesting past. I will respect his privacy but it was enough to make you wonder about background checks. Next, the mover asked for a shot of alcohol and drank it on the job in the house. I guess drinking on the job is also acceptable for Move Buddies. One plus in this downhill spiral is that the mover drinking on the job was not driving, but again it makes you wonder! Yes, I repeat he consumed alcohol. I guess to ease my fears I was disclosed personal information from Hunter that this employee was fired. In Hunter's defense he explained he was not suppose to tell us that information. read more

Ok First off I would like to make one thing clear. This is about business and nothing personal. If you decide to hire these guys they will cost you 25% more than Two men and a truck and any reputable mover. There are specific reasons. 1. Their trucks are delivery trucks not moving trucks, they do not have speed ramps they have hydraulic lifts. It was so painfully slow watching them load the ramp, lower the ramp then load the Dollies, Speed ramp (all other movers have). #1 reason to not hire these guys they will take hours and hours longer and they don't care because they are paid by the hour. 2. Their two man crews are green and UN-experienced. You might as well write them a Blank check because they are going to send you through the roof with your final bill. We had one kid walk off and did not come back. Because we asked him to pack correctly like wrap stuff??? 3. The Sales guy John did not even come out and audit the move he took a phone appraisal and then sent a truck 5 feet two small. So I had to go rent a 15 foot U-Haul and finish what they had started almost a full Truck. If you use these guys and read my Review about all the logical reasons you do not want to use these guys. Moving is one of the most difficult processes ever. Not only must one pack box after box (after box after box), but one might also decide to entrust her entire world to two strangers who load it up into a truck and haul it 200 miles across state lines. I had my fears and misgivings about hiring movers to do the hard work, but boy am I glad I did. Move Buddies did such a great job and tomorrow, the arduous task of unpacking begins! Very disappointed with this moving company. I've moved a lot and have never had such a crappy experience. Three guys did show up relatively on time and they were courteous. However, throughout the move, they seemed very inexperienced. I wanted movers to simply move my furniture 3 miles down the road. They didn't need to box anything, just move the heavy stuff that I couldn't lift on my own. I lived in a 3 bedroom apartment and have had the same furniture for several years. It took them 6 hrs and 15min to move this stuff. Compared to previous moves, this was by far the slowest group of young guys I've ever encountered. Move buddies charges by the hour too AND I was charged $75 to go 3 miles down the road! At the end of the move, one guy was struggling to put my bed together while the two other guys folded blankets out front. I'm glad I paid these guys to fold there own blankets! How about help the other guy so you can get done! On top of that, my other bed wasn't set up, the bed that they did set up they didn't even put the mattress on, my sectional couch was apart and my washer and dryer wasn't hooked up. If I had them stay to do this, it would have been over 7hrs. Completely ridiculous! Damage to a few pieces of my furniture, a hole in my apartment wall and the door jam completely scratched up on one of my doors. One guy had the nerve to even be on his phone talking to a friend while trying to lift things out of my apartment... On top of all this, I paid over $1000 for this experience. One of the most expensive local moves I have ever encountered!! Customer service had the nerve to give me $100 off my next move, as if I would even choose this company again after this kind of experience. Buyer beware. The appointment set up went well; and, the movers were on time. Then things didn't go well. On of the guys was constantly on how phone while trying to pack with one hand. Turned furniture pieces on their side to wrap without looking inside to check to make sure everything was removed. Glass broke in one cabinet. I discovered some gouges in wood pieces when I unwrapped pieces at the other end. The second mover was more conscientious. They were very careful unloading unpacking we had a very large move involving two stops and breakable items. Move Buddies was recommended to me because they claim "no job too big, or too small" what a joke.. I had a single 65" big screen tv, that needed to be moved.. A whopping 3 whole miles..it is a huge heavy tv.. I won't pretend it's not! The lady I bought it from nicknamed it "the beast" almost 367lbs..our house is only 8 minutes away, yet they wanted to charge me $200, to move a tv I paid only $50 for.. I said not just no, but HELL NO, mind you not like that..I told Leah that was 4×s what I paid for the tv.. She said sorry, that's our cheapest package.. I said bye.. Two days later two men friends of the lady who sold the tv to us.. Delivered the tv to us, and even helped us get it into the house..they charged us $30.. Total, not each! So, $80 versus $250.. You tell me which was the better deal? read more

My local move was a disaster! Sorry guys - as you know you really missed the mark and cost me more than my quoted move. The truck was equipped with a hydraulic lift delivery truck, not a moving truck with ramps, resulting in a very slow move (paid by the hour!) First day was packing day - after 6 hrs one guy walked off the job. He was new on the job and being trained and I guess he just did not like it. Second day was finish packing - then truck packing. Another new guy joined. Be prepared to do a lot of work yourself. Worst part, the truck was not packed properly and could not fit all my stuff! I had to rent another truck and move the rest myself. I wish there was a ZERO or - because Move Buddies never completed my move leaving my biggest thing behind while "promising" to pick it up Monday AM then they blocked my number. Chris Low was contacted by my childhood friend on Friday 12/8/17 to move me because his moving companies movers based out of Atlanta were out of state and could not do it. Everything seemed great at 1st until the 2 movers showed up and 40 minutes into the move they had moved almost nothing into the truck, my 13 year old son had moved more to the end of the truck then they had at this point I even went as far to say to the 1 "do you not have a dolly?" because he was taking smaller boxes than my son out 1 at a time his response was "oh yea" not to his fault really as Move Buddies sent him to my home with less than a full day of experience which showed as I even had to show and help with the plastic wrap on my furniture. Both movers were very nice but the moving process was painfully slow at the 40 minute mark so I called in with my concerns and was pushed off by my sales rep which was a bit frustrating to his manager because this call was just concern because it was pre paid by my friend that should have taken not much more than 4hrs, house consisted of 2 bedrooms, office, dining room, eat in kitchen furniture and family room and approximately 18 boxes. I had already moved most boxes that contained contents of all the rooms that also included all hang up clothes. pictures, pots and pans and garage. When I spoke to the Manager Michael is was not friendly in the slightest only to say "I will call them" I insisted that he didn't because the pace was picking up as the conversation proceeded he then said "because of the circumstances I need to get paid now for 2 addition hours" I kept asking what that meant to find out he did not think I could afford to pay and he threatened to leave now if I did not. I was not happy to say the least at this point because any overage was to be paid at the end and now accused of being a possible non paying customer. I then said okay then if you have to but you can do a pre-authorization and not charge - he refused. I paid because I had no choice and was moving today and already gave up my U Haul truck. When they went to load my entertainment center which took almost 40 minutes I get a call from Michael to say they can not get it on the truck without damaging it so they finished packing wasting this time on our dime and moved to the new location, Upon arrival and unloading things were damaged Ethan Allen dining, Bellini bedroom furniture, antique hand painted table among other things. Michael called again and I asked what about my last piece he said it could be moved Monday sounding like I would have to pay again, I said you already wasted 40 minutes on it once I should not have to pay and there is damage here. He then replied your damage is not covered because you wanted them to move faster and they did not wrap it I responded saying well that is not true with all of it it was wrapped and they should not have been laying my stuff on the side and face down on concrete bricks and roadway. It was like a nightmare watching them do this and have no clue why they did not carry it face up and stand it down, Michael then said you are only covered for .10 a pound which is insane I never or would agree to this as my dining table alone cost more than the entire move. Next was he did agree to move my entertainment cabinet Monday AM between 7:45-8:30 at 8:40 I called to see where they were to only be blocked so I used my friends cell to call and Chis blew me off to Michael again for him to say its out of my hands and in the owners now, I asked what does that mean you "promised" to move it and I have witnesses which include my Pastor who just retired as the Capt of the Southside Police Dept, he replied you will hear from the owner by end of day. I called again from another number because I am blocked for him to say "we haven't gotten to you yet" It is now 5 days later they will not call me and the rest of my stuff was moved by U Haul at additional cost with the unit still behind occurring a daily cost. As a small business owner myself I would never begin to act in the manner this company has with blocking calls, giving out dead links for claims and out right threats of they will leave unless you pay more now when your pre-paid time isn't up yet. Watch out folks as I read other reviews on them you may have to film the entire move and just take it up later in small claims court - Good Luck .Update - 8:25pm 12/14/2017 It has been yet another frustrating day to say the least I went to the other house where my left behind entertainment center is to see that it ALSO has damage, did they not say on the original move that wasted 40 minutes only to tell me that "they could not move it because they could not risk damaging it" well folks they did and put it back in the house to be left behind damaged and unmoved. read more

My experience with Move Buddies this week was beyond incredible; I highly recommend this moving company to anyone in the Charleston area. First, the office staff could not have been friendlier, especially when I had to make some last minute changes to the dates and times of my move. Second, the crew that was assigned to me were polite, arrived on time, and took exceptional care of my personal belongings. Even better, they were fast! They did not ride the clock by dragging their feet as some other companies' crews will do yet they took the time to point out pre-existing flaws on furniture or ask very pertinent questions about my preferences. I used Move Buddies for my local move. The two gentlemen who showed up showed up on time and were ready to work. I can not say anything negative about their work ethics but will am highly disappointed in hiring this company to move me. I had a 100 year old antique cabinet that one of the movers admired. I wasn't able to take the cabinet with me so told the mover he could have the cabinet. While transporting the cabinet from my storage unit to the truck it was left on a dolly and tipped over. The sides of the cabinet were crushed and the 100 year old antique cabinet was destroyed. My Mother and I tried to get the attention of the mover on the truck to catch the cabinet but were unable to. I did not file a claim with the company in regards to the cabinet because I had given it to the mover prior to the accident. Upon arriving at my condo I was unable to find the piece of my table that connected the table top to the base. I asked the movers if they had lost the part but they told me they didn't know what I was talking about. They offered to search the truck and advised me to go back to the storage unit and see if I had left it there. I hadn't. The part was missing and now my table is useless. The movers also broke my leather ottoman. In the process of moving it they must have grabbed the top and failed to realize the top opened to reveal storage inside. The hinges were ripped out and can not be tightened. I asked the mover if they had damaged my ottoman while moving and he told me no. He felt it was just a loose screw and tried to tighten it. He was unable to tighten it because the screws had been ripped out and would not tighten. He advised my Dad to get Gorilla Glue and put that on the screw to hold it tight. I contacted Moving Buddies and dealt with Larissa Bennett, the Operations Manager, for Move Buddies. She sent me a claim form to file. I told Larissa I would contact the manufacturer of the table to see how much the part cost. There was an issue with the link Larissa sent me which made it impossible to submit so I emailed her the information from the claim form. I was told I would hear back from her soon regarding the claim. Larissa sent an email informing me the claim for the missing part was denied because there was no proof of the item in the storage unit prior to the move, legs were not located in the move. She informed me she had pictures of the unit and the legs were not there. Considering her movers moved the legs, or base, of my table and I sent her pictures of the base I am not sure how she came to this determination. the claim was not for the base, or legs, as she called it. It was for the piece that connects the base to the top. I tried to make this claim as easy as possible by trying to locate a replacement part from the manufacturer verses a new table. But was denied with the explanation that the legs were never in my storage unit. Larissa told me Move Buddies would pay me $36 for the damage done to my leather ottoman. This ottoman cost over $500 and when I questioned her about the replacement value she informed me she was allowing $.60 a pound and my ottoman weighed 60 pounds. I asked to speak with her supervisor regarding this matter because she had not even denied the correct item in the claim, the legs were fine. She informed me there was nobody else I could speak to. I asked her what the route was at this point and was told to send an email which she would forward. I hired a moving company because I wanted to ensure my home was moved safely. Move Buddies claims to fix any mistake quickly and go above and beyond in each move. This does not appear to be the case. I was hesitant to pay the remainder of my balance after my ottoman was damaged and the missing items but I was assured this matter would be taken care of to my satisfaction. Paying $36 for an item that cost over $500 and leaving me with a dinning room table I can not use is not going above and beyond. Dealing with clients on a daily basis I can assure you the manner in which Larissa handled this is not going above and beyond. I would strongly advise against hiring Move Buddies if you value the items you are moving. They have no desire in correcting the mistakes they made. In essence Larissa implied I was lying about what was in my storage unit and therefore they were not responsible. Please take your business to a company that truly values the customer. read more

Worst moving company ever! Go with anyone but them. We hired them for multiple days to move items from our home, to our business in separate locations. Our first move was on the second floor, and we had very heavy items. We asked the lady if they could arrive as early as possible because the business is in the middle of Downtown, and traffic gets crazy. We also asked her to send guys that could lift these heavy items upstairs. She assured us they would be early, and the workers would be more than capable of moving the items. Movers showed up at 11 am, far from early. They sent a short woman they could not carry anything heavy, a smaller guy that happened to be his first day, and a larger gentleman that could actually lift heavy things but quit at the end. It was like it was all their first move ever, they were clueless. I ended up having to help with the majority of the items. They also ran out of tie straps and had to use mine. Once we finally got Downtown of course they couldn't carry the heavy items upstairs. Me, my contractor, and maintenance guy had to do it, while the movers watched us. At one point the larger guy just stayed in the truck and quit moving. Once finished I immediately canceled my second move. I called to complain because the voicemail says there's a satisfaction guarantee. Hunter their manager told me I was lucky I got my deposit for the second move refunded. He was going to do nothing else and feel free to write a bad review. Hired a new company for the second move, and they were amazing. The staff was very professional during the move. They came on time and packaged every thing with great care. During unloading at the destination too great care was taken to ensure no damage happens to the belongings. Overall the move went great. Highly recommended. read more

I contacted Move Buddies about a month ago for my upcoming move. The two ladies I spoke with were very professional and to say the least, I was impressed! I called last Saturday to schedule my move and was greeted by an answering service. I left a message and no one called me back. I called Tuesday and got the same run around. My move was coming up in ONE week and I was becoming desperate. I called several more times to no avail. I left message after message by voice and email NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK. On Wednesday I used Home Adviser to find another company. When I told them my story (never mentioning the business) they asked "Was it Move Buddies?" to which I said "yes". She told me she heard they were going out of business. Well, why didn't they just tell me that? Why did they make an already stressful situation so much worse by refusing to tell me they could not take care of my move? Do not book with this company. read more

Do not use this company for your moving needs. They will quote you half the cost and steal money from your bank with no legal right to do so. The movers themselves were respectful and arrived on time. However, they move very slow. Carrying one box at a time instead of using a dolly. To give you an idea. I boxed up everything in my 2 bedroom apartment, I wrapped all the pictures and everything. The only thing that needed to be wrapped were two beds, entertainment center and a dresser. I was given a quote on the phone for $600 for the move. I set aside $800, just in case. After 4 hours of work "if you can call it that". I tried to get ahold of their office to let them know that this was not what i was paying for. But, no one was available and even after asking the movers they said they were unable to get in touch with their dispatcher. So at this point i began to load the truck with them. Bottom line. It took this company twice as long to move me compared to the company i used last time. Keep in mind the company i used previously packed my entire place and moved everything in less time. This wasnt just the worst moving experience i've had. This is by far the most poorly operated company i've had the displeasure of dealing with. After the move was finished. They attempted to bill me for twice the amount of the quote. Their so shady they even erased the original quote from their system and generated a new falsified quote. Save yourself the headache of small claims and stay away from this shady business. read more

Do yourself a favor and hire these guys! Could not have asked for better and friendlier service. Literally some of the nicest guys ever. They were fast, efficient, and very careful with my belongings. I would absolutely recommend them 100% and will definitely be using them for future moves. Scheduled to arrive 8 - 9 am, but showed up a few minutes before noon. We were told a 3rd guy would come because they were going to be late, we got 2. When they got there it must have been union break time. One guy was taking pictures of every single thing that was going to be moved. I asked why, and he said to verify what was being moved and damage. If you take a picture of a piece of furniture from one angle, how could you see if there is damage anywhere else. The other guy was just standing there until I asked why he wasn't doing anything. Then when they actually started working, 1 guy was doing the moving while the other was sitting in the back of the truck. I ended up helping the 1 guy move most of the furniture out of the house. They moved it all out unwrapped with cloths or any protection. Then in the back of the truck the guy wrapped it up. We bought our own blankets so they could stay wrapped up while in storage. The guy in the truck argued with us about it and then when he finally agreed, he used the wrong size blankets for the furniture pieces. So he ended up needing his own blankets. When we got to the storage unit, about 4 hours later. They unwrapped everything before taking it off the truck. Then moved it into the storage unit, taking another almost 2 hours. The purpose of wrapping the furniture is to protect it moving it out of the home and into the new home/storage area. Clearly lost on these guys. We had already moved the majority of the boxes ourselves, so the balance of the home was two living room sets, a bedroom set and the washer/dryer. We were charged 5 hours of labor for what should have been a 3 hour move. The office would not answer the phone to discuss, or return my voicemail. read more
