Have had several acupuncture over the years but never the harsh, double taps on the needle that would leave me bleeding in many points and even needed to "heal" from over several days. And there was a big push for me to buy the tea..when asked told it was for "digestion" though I have no digestion issues. Not told what was in the tea, I resisted buying it, but was given some pressure each time. Lastly, not having Dr Gong take out the needles for a quick, final check in, but her front desk person taking out the needles...just added to the impersonal, assembly line feel. He listened and was quick to communicate he is knowledgeable about knee injuries and started working on my knee right away. I walked in with crutches and I walked out without them!! Now mind you I had gotten clearance from my primary to walk right before but I still wasn't able to and I had some ptsd from falling. This time last year, (third quarter-end) I was so stressed with a work project, working late and…read morefrom a kitchen table (not the correct ergonomic balance) and I recall twisting my body around in a weird way b/c I was multitasking and my legs were crossed too...well I pulled something and felt the bottom of my back start to hurt as well as my right arm and hand. The pain was radiating from my lower back to right arm and hand. It was painful to type, stand up and to simply move my arm! Heck, I couldn't drive myself either. Stricken with worry, I wanted to try something new and so my partner drove me here and after the first session, I FELT SO MUCH BETTER. I wasn't cured immediately, but I was able to drive myself home! The process was easy, I came in and told the doctor I wanted to try acupuncture and I was on the table after a 15 minute discussion as to where the pain was coming from and what I do everyday. I continued coming here for 2 1/2 months and maybe 20-30 min. sessions every other week. I felt so much better. It takes time for nerves to regenerate/repair and the acupuncture helped tremendously. I recall at the time and doing my own online research, that people say it take 6-12 months for damaged nerves to get better and I do feel back to normal again. He told me, "That stuff's amazing! The best guy I know is on Shepherd..." I cut him off for both of us to harmonize, "Dr. Wu!!!" And then we had a moment, mainly with him saying, "I told you so..." I have multiple autoimmune diagnoses which were causing my entire body to stop working properly. I was at a point where I was almost completely disabled. Dr. Wu is nothing short of a miracle for me. This review is overdue but it's hard not to write a book here, so I'll be brief. I went in for something small, not expecting much. But 4 months later, I had gotten my life back. I have many things that I have to do to keep my autoimmune disorder in check, but acupuncture is the one thing that I cannot do without. And when I went in, it was for foot and tailbone pain, not autoimmune issues. I want to reiterate: I went in with no idea what would happen. Two weeks of appointments, the incredible progress started, systemwide. A few months later, I still don't know what happened. But, when I don't go, I can literally feel the pain and lethargy crawl back. I respond well to acupuncture. You may not get the results that I did. But, if you're not responding well to traditional medicine and have chronic nagging issues (inflammation, pain, malabsorption, mysterious diagnoses), I suggest you try acupuncture with Dr. Wu for at least a month, preferably two. You may find that you get your life back, too.
