I would like to dedicate my first review of 2018 to Yin Yang Acupuncture. I have been wanting to share my wonderful experiences to the world since I received my first treatment last year. I was referred by my Yelpers friend Mark W. Few years ago, I was desperately looking for a reliable and knowledgeable acupuncturist near me. Most of them in Chinatown don't meet my basic requirements. Mark said, "try my mom." I've gotta tell you, after my first treatment I felt like someone took away a rucksack filled with rocks off of my back. I came back for sciatica pain few weeks later. This time was an acupuncture treatment. Dr. Lu's technique is very skillful. There were 2 types needles, orange one applied to my forehead and others in my belly and legs. I didn't feel any different right after. But I felt energizes after 4 hours of my usual grocery shopping. I normally take an hour nap before repackaging meats away. But that day, I had so much energy I even cooked our dinner, prepared my lunch and washed dishes. People always think Yelp is for restaurants and Yelpers are all foodies. Not so fast. There are so many non-food businesses in town that with mentioning. You may have seen my cupping photos (multiple shades of circles on my back). That is an ancient Chinese method to improve blood circulation. Once air is drawn out of a glass cup, it's applied to my back immediately. Doctor will move the cups like playing mahjong on my back. I really don't know how it works but it felt so good afterwards. The circles disappeared after a couple of days. So a friend recommended I try this out for my back pain a few months ago committed to trying it out but I've been so busy it was I haven't had time to make an appointment. Well It has slowed down a bit and today my back was in a lot of pain and I thought I better go ahead and make that appointment luckily to my surprise they were actually able to get me in today. I didn't know what to expect when coming to get acupuncture I have had cupping in the past but never gone under the needle. When I walked into Yang Yang acupuncture I felt more like I was going into a doctors office American doctors office that is you have to fill out some paperwork and then of course a little bit of triage were they check your blood pressure and scan some point to see where they going to stick the needle's. After that part they had a questionnaire about my habits and what not but then where we really got things going was when I lay down on the table and they use the glass cups and then some of the regular cupping that I've had before. Then I turn over and get the needle treatment didn't know that I would be laying there for a while afterwords nearly falling asleep with the needles still in me but it was very relaxing and I feel so much better now I will definitely be back because this is what it feels like after just one treatment I know I need some more. First a little background. Obviously if you are reading my reviews you are either 1) in awe of my awesome reviews, 2) a stalker, 3) a fellow yelpie or 4) a combination of the above. You likely know I am a bookaholic so of course when I read about qigong it mentioned acupuncture - which is how we got here. In case you are new to Houston or not from here - there are in fact lots of acupuncture facilities. So after lots hearing lots of recommendations from people that have gone I decided on here. I had no experience with acupuncture or cupping previously so I wasn't sure what to expect although I had read (of course) and had an idea. I am not a fan of needles so that was my only apprehension about doing this - there were a few barely noticeable moments but no pain or discomfort. When you talk to her its apparent that Dr. Betsy Lu knows a lot and has been doing this for a while. Definitely plan to be there for a little bit - up to 2 hours especially on the initial visit - filling out paperwork and speaking with the staff. Everyone's reaction is different is what I would say at the same time I would say everyone benefits from this type of therapy. So my reaction to the therapy was really amazing I feel so much better although those words don't begin to convey it all - my main reason of course was the blocked energy from my shoulder surgery a few years back. I literally have no more pain LOL it's crazy. I did the acupuncture with cupping. And prior to doing this I was really tired. I was having digestive problems. My body was aching terribly. Since doing this I'm definitely more energized and the craziest part is I literally have no pain. I wake up some time and I'm like what is wrong? I was diagnosed with PCOS in Dec '13 after many months of infertility. I started acupuncture with Dr. Lu around that time. I had my first IUI in Jan and now pregnant with my first baby. I am so thankful to Dr. Lu for preparing my body for this procedure. I truly believe the acupuncture made the difference. Her facility is very clean and I loved her dogs! I went in for acupuncture and got so much more. Dr. Lu is a very kind and warm woman. Very motherly and nurturing. I was never pushed any supplements or herbs that I didn't need. Wow, Dr. Lu knows her stuff. She has a wealth of experience and knowledge, and is up to date on the latest modalities. I've had acupuncture and cupping done so far, and it was amazing, relaxing and painless. Her actual center feels/looks clean and the energy of the space is healthy and positive. I got a great vibe walking in and all was confirmed after my session. The people who work there are equally kind and authentic. I could not recommend this spot more for whatever ails you. read more

My mom started coming here bc she has carpel tunnel syndrome and she received both needles and laser treatment. She found that both treatments relieved the pain , although not for a long time ( and thats only because her carpel tunnel is pretty severe) but did have some assured relief. Besides that, we both got the hot cup treatment done and oh my gosh... that stuff is so relieving! we also got the needles on our ears that are supposed to keep you balanced. With that I did notice a change of mood and personally slept better. Mrs.Lu is such a sweet lady, always so welcoming, friendly and caring. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Betsy is the best acupuncturist I've ever seen. She is the ninth one and was suggested by my neurologist. She knows her stuff and is as genuine as it gets. Not too sure about the person who had a negative experience..............it's true that they try to get you to purchase/use the supplements, but you can easily say no way as some of that stuff tastes worse than anything you could imagine. read more

I was having horrendous sciatica pain on my right side after driving for only twenty minutes. My shoulders and right heel hurt. Two weeks ago I went to Yin Yang Acupuncture for help. Betsy Lu has always been straight forward with me. My sciatica pain has decreased by 80% after two weeks of therapy. My shoulder and heel pain have also decreased. I have been practicing martial arts my entire life. There was a stretching exercise which I stop doing and I was tight in that area. Ms. Lu open my eyes to the fact that I needed to stretch these muscles. Now, I am starting to get back some of the flexibility that I have lost. read more

I have been going to that location for more than 1 year now. I went overthere to quit smoking, and she help me also with other non-directly-related issues I had. I am going approx once a month for acunpuncture and cupping. very relaxing. Betsy is very direct when giving diagnostics or comments, but you get use to it and her comments are accurate. So I went here and had cupping done for the first time. It wasn't a terrible experience but the lady working the front desk never introduced herself so I have no idea what her name is. She walked me to a room without saying anything and then asked me to undress with no explanation of what to expect. The entire session lasted maybe 15 mins and she never explained what she was doing. My back feel better but I think I'll look for another place next time. read more
