Delicious food (try the Everything Croissant!) and prompt, courteous service. There were no complaints about my Chicago Bears hat in the midst of Packers country By the way, while I didn't try them, the pastries on display looked amazing! Next time... Thanks for a great breakfast, Grace Coffee!

Ok. So I've lived here for 10 years and every single Saturday I take my sons out for breakfast. And…read morewe have tried almost all of them in Dane County. And this was recommended early on. And it's close to our house. And I drove past it for years. To Koffee Kup. To Pancake Cafe. To Luke's. All great. I didn't go here because in the boys' words it "looked sus". And it does. It looks like a divey bar on the outside. And unsurprisingly it is on the inside too. But What it IS is amazing food wise. Everyone talks about the French toast. Having never had RumChata in a cocktail I can't comment but that toast is OFF THE CHARTS. But so is the biscuits and gravy. A ton of meat. Service is strained but lovely. And when you see what that cook is working with you're even more impressed. A 6'X4' cooking station and you make this? Wow. My only complaint is the bacon. Not great. Not actually good. Worth a drive to Wittenberg to buy cases of odd cut Nueskes and this place is almost James Beard Award worthy. Appearances are deceiving. Do it!

Had the eggs Benedict with crabcakes and steak and it was some of the best hollandaise sauce that I've ever had. The bartenders were top notch and there was never a wait for anything. The decor is squirrels of course , the foot rest a little stumps and the people were friendly. A great place for breakfast.

We stumbled upon this place randomly one night after dinner. I believe the basketball playoffs were…read moreon so it was busy. Only had one drink and left. We decided to come back mid afternoon on a Sunday. There were a few tables wrapping up but the bar was pretty full. Service was a little iffy at first (seems like a place that definitely has regulars) but once the bartenders spotted us the service was great. The beer is really cold and the drinks are strong. We ordered the suggested house burger w sweet potato fries and some wings. The wings had a lot of breading on them but meaty. The fries were good and the burger was awesome! I ended up having to eat it with a fork bc it completely fell apart. The bun is on the sweeter side (not sure exactly what kind it was) but it just couldn't contain all the delicious toppings. We will absolutely be back. Looking forward to football season here - they have a TON of TVs and Sunday ticket. Score!!

I also got the drool worthy cheesy potato casserole as a side - this is only available on Fridays and runs out as the night goes on so get there early! My absolute favorite item on the normal menu is the Chicken Salad Sandwhich Melt on sourdough bread. It's SO good. This bar is an excellent spot for cheap drinks & watching sports since it has a million TVs. I've never had the burgers here but I've heard good things.

Order at the counter for takeout or bring it over to the bar area to enjoy. I will say having it attached is a huge perk for those wishing to absorb the great vibes (and beverages) the Muskellounge has to offer. Moving to the food, I walked away unimpressed. A solid C with perhaps the exception being the biscuit in the chicken tender basket (a solid A). After hearing about their burgers, I opted for their special. Perhaps my fault but the burger was completely overdressed with flavors that overpowered the beef patty. On the other side was the chicken sandwich. Pedestrian. Rather flat and under seasoned. The chicken tenders were fried well but lacked salt. Perhaps I set the bar too high for Hank's but plenty of places in Madison to get your fix on burgers and fried chicken.

We were kind of shocked when out food was actually ready in 5 minutes like we were told, that's some efficiency! The specials for the day were a cuban and a meatball sandwich. This cuban sandwich was one of the best I've ever had and I really hope it's on their menu more! The meatball sandwich was also very tasty with a spicy giardinara to give it some extra flavor. We also had to get the waffle fries with Hanks sauce because it's just so tasty. Always a great option, especially if you can eat it next door.

Weary is an eclectic space that is full of a hodgepodge of artwork, mirrors, lighting, decor and a bunch of random items that just make sense together. The vibe here is uniquely local for this part of Madison and from the moment you enter through the large ornate wooden door, you are teleported into a special space where a good time is sure to be had! We have come here for Friday Fish Fry, weekday lunch and weekend brunch, and we have never left unhappy or hungry. The menu is made up of mostly classic dishes such as salads, soups, burgers and sandwiches, with a few mains like steak frites and pork chop. Brunch has your classic brunch dishes such as breakfast plates, biscuits and gravy, burrito and of course, French toast. The fish fry is excellent here, especially the pan fried version, which still provides the light, crisp and fresh fish but less the thick breading. For brunch, the breakfast burrito add sausage was spot on and super tasty! For cocktail, they have a stellar menu of house curated cocktails. For brunch, I went with the Bloody Mary and outside of brunch hours, I gravitate to the Killer Bees Knees gin based cocktail. I will grab a beer on occasion, but the cocktails are too good to pass up! Service is always stellar here whether we are sat in the dining room or bellied up to the bar. Overall, absolutely in love The Weary Traveler Freehouse!
