All I have to say is this: Ms. Nosco (5th Grade) is the best! She is sincerely one of the most intelligent, creative, fun, thoughtful, insightful, and attractive teachers behind the Orange Curtain! With her multiple degrees from USC in Education, why would think about sending your child to any other school? That's right; you shouldn't. We are so grateful we found a school that aligns with our beliefs and focus. We live across from a school rated 9 our 10 that is a great school. We however, wanted our children to be in a more intimate school setting. We love the small class size, everyone knows everyone in a good way. We started on the preschool side and had such a great experience we chose to stay. It's Preschool- 8 th grade which is awesome. There is a strong sense of community which we enjoy. The programs they offer are music and they learned the keyboard and will be learning ukulele. The art program is fantastic and one of my top priorities was having my children exposed the Spanish. They launched the STEAM program last year and that is the icing on the cake. Our children are being offered so much and they come home happy and excited about learning. The staff is nurturing and you feel like your voice is heard. We can't wait for our kids to enter middle school and get go on some of the big field trips. We have enjoyed the last few years and are excited for next year. read more

ZERO STARS My daughter went here for only a few months. Aside from not following COVID guidelines they prepared, the teachers are not friendly and traumatized my three year old. Still a year later my daughter says she doesn't like her old school. Interview the teacher and you'll see how much they don't care for the advancement of your kids. The last straw for us was when my pottytrained daughter was put in diapers because she had an accident. When I picked her she was in tears and super embarrassed and humiliated, wouldn't stop crying because she was in diapers.... seriously???? At least have the courtesy of calling me to let me know how upset she is. I found another great school that we all love and my daughter is thriving in. Please do your research. read more

My response to the school's comment on my original review below: Your "evaluation" of my child was after you ALREADY placed her in the violet room. The end justify the means. You should have put her in the room she SHOULD be in and IF she's not keeping up, then you move her down. Instead, you are having her prove herself to you on the spot and that's not fair to her. Let's do an example with grades: let's say my child should be in the 2nd grade, what you're doing is keeping her in the 1st grade and then telling me that she will be fine to go into the 3rd grade next year. I find that hard to believe. She is not delayed or mentally challenged that should merit her being held back in the violet room. She is bright and doesn't need to jump through hoops to be where she belongs. She does not deserve that treatment at all. No one other student was evaluated, I was told multiple time that your evaluations/assessment doesn't happen until October anyways. So you're making her prove herself to you when NO OTHER STUDENTS had to. And you're damn right I refuse to sit in your bias "evaluations". I will not stand idly by as you insult my daughter. read more

Finding this school has been a Godsend...literally! We are so pleased to have found a new "home" for our son to grow and learn. My 3 year old is in the Navy Room of the Preschool Program and we have really watched him blossom and grow since he has been enrolled. Transitions and drop offs were really tough at a different school but since we have attended at Grace, my son LOVES coming to Preschool. Staff is welcoming and engaged. The PBIS Program is a dream for those kiddos who are a little more "spirited" than most. I would highly recommend this amazing preschool program. read more

My boys have been at Grace Lutheran Preschool for a year and a half. We were attending a different preschool in HB and have a very bad experience and knew it was time to make a change...and I am SO GLAD we did. The teachers and staff have been nothing but amazing. I feel like they are not only educators, but they are there to comfort and love my boys while my husband and I leave them in their care day after day. My oldest will be starting Kindergarten next month and I am confident that he is more than prepared. I have been a School Counselor and Assistant Principal for the past 10 years and there is no other place I would want to have my children attend. When deciding on a preschool there are so many factors that come into play and Grace checked every box for me. While I read a comment that someone had an ongoing issue with lice and pink eye I am happy to say that neither of my boys have had an issue with either one of these things, nor have the families that we are friends with at the school. However, it is important to remember that kids are young, they have germs and unfortunately this stuff will be at every preschool at some time or another. I can't speak highly enough about this program and what they have provided for my children, both academically, socially and emotionally. read more

What can I say about Grace Lutheran School...They are amazing. My son attends their preschool and he adores the campus, his teachers, and his friends. The staff (or I would like to say family) treats the kids like their own. The schedule is very flexible and the price is wonderful too. We are really looking forward to summer camp. First off let me preface my review that my wife and I both work full time in careers that don't allow us to leave unless their is an emergency. Also there are some really good people the work here but some I feel so hold a grudge against children who require extra attention for behavior (Not the primary teachers but some of the aides). Both of our daughters attended this pre-school full time and we were initially very happy and so were the girls. After the honeymoon stage it became apparent that my girls who have always been a handful were having a disruptive impact on their respective classes. We worked with their teachers, and sought the help of specialists, and did everything in our power to solve the issues after my eldest who at the time was 4 was diagnosed with ADHD. Unfortunately after all this we started receiving calls to pick up our daughters while at work. It felt as if the staff had given up and they stressed my wife out with emails and phone calls to the point where we felt we could not count on the school any longer despite paying 1,600 tuition. If your kids are mild mannered I would strongly recommend this pre-school, if they have or you suspect ADHD or they're very hyper I would not recommend this preschool/daycare. read more

My son attended this preschool two times for a couple months in 2013 and 2014. When no other preschool in the area had openings they did. I soon realized what the reason is. Both times my son contracted lice and pink eye within 30 days of attending. The second time that he attended he contracted lice 3 times in a row within weeks of each other. Each time he had to miss school for days due to the sicknesses that he brought home. This did not happen at the other preschool he attended nor did it happen in his transitional kindergarten class this past year. I have worked in early Childhood Ed for the past 8 years and Education for the past 15 years with a Masters Degree in Education and my Child Development Directors Permit. I can tell you that this is not normal. I have no other negatives to say. The staff was helpful and kind and I do feel like my son enjoyed going there but I don't think that they are having the children wash their hands enough or sanitizing their toys on a regular basis. Hopefully they have improved in this area in the past couple years, otherwise I would not refer anyone to this preschool. read more

We have been a Grace for a few years now and we have had an amazing experience. Our youngest daughter is in 1st grade and is showing so much growth. I love that her 1st grade classroom is 12 students! I just had our parent teacher conference where I learned new things about her and I am over the moon thrilled at her reading and math levels. Grace is a great community with supportive families, teachers, staff where everyone feels welcome. It is half week this week and my daughter has begged me to go to kids club after school program. She loves the workers, the kids and all the fun they have. I would recommend everyone I know to attend. read more

We have been a family at GLS in Huntington Beach for a total of six wonderful years. My son has attended Grace from preschool through 4th grades, and the support level from the staff is beyond amazing. They encourage a growth mindset, student respect & responsibility, creativity, and kindness in an accepting atmosphere. I am a member of the PTL (Parent Teacher League) who are parents working hard throughout the school year to encourage family fun, improve school programs, and serve our community. This is our third year at Grace Lutheran. We transferred from another private Christian school that simply was too small for us. Grace was a perfect fit...There are two classes for our grade with 15 -16 students in each class. My son is challenged academically and loves that he can participate in sports within the school system. I have personally witnessed genuine acts of love from both staff and families at Grace and it has been a blessing to our family to be here. read more

My oldest daughter has been attending Grace for 3 years and my youngest daughter just started. The teachers at GLPS are exceptional and the curriculum is challenging when compared to other programs but is still play based, which is important at this age; my daughters have learned and matured leaps and bounds since starting. Grace is amazing! My preschooler is above and beyond taken care of and as a working mom, I have peace of mind when my child is at Grace. The preschool director, the teachers, and all support staff are attentive, loving, and make my child feel safe and secure at school. Too bad my kids didn't have Ms. Nosco earlier, or maybe we wouldn't have left the school like everybody else is doing. It's such a small school, they don't need a principal AND a superintendent. Back in the day, there was one principal who was involved with the kids, she knew everybody's name and truly loved the kids. Now all they care about is getting rid of teachers that the kids love. The school doesn't even have silent auction fundraisers anymore, what a crying shame. I wouldn't mind spending the money on a Christian education if if was worth it. Public school rocks!! read more

As the school year comes to an end all I can think about is how absolutely blessed I have been but more importantly my daughter has been to start her 1st school experience at Grace Lutheran Preschool! Grace Lutheran is hands-down the best preschool in Huntington Beach! We have been part of this preschool family for the past three years and my boys absolutely love it. They look forward to going to school and run up to their class! The staff is warm, loving, and patient. The curriculum is outstanding and taught in a way that is easily absorbed by the children. My oldest son went into public Kindergarten already knowing everything that was being taught the first half of the year! They also teach important morals/values that my kids come home repeating and practicing. On top of it all, Grace creates an environment for the families to connect and get to know eachother. Grace Lutheran School has been an excellent fit for our family. Every morning after drop off, I leave filled with appreciation and gratitude for our ability to be a part of the educational experience. My child has been in the school since Kindergarten. This is an academic rich environment in which my child has thrived. My child has been evaluated at reading 2 1/2 half grades ahead and has developed a love for reading. Our family has been thrilled with the teachers and staff. The new principle has been a fantastic added bonus to the already strong foundation of the school. My child has developed a strong religious foundation and has learned the importance of faith, kindness and love towards others.
