Where do I begin. This is hands down the best daycare I could've sent my son to. We unfortunately had to move due to the military but he was enrolled from 4 months old to 18 months and we couldn't have asked for better teachers or environment. Everyone is so kind and helpful. My son learned so much while being in the infant and toddler room, and he made so many friends. Forever grateful for the amazing staff for keeping our little one safe and giving us tips along the way as we are new parents. read more

My child went here for more than a year, it was great at first. The teachers, Ms. Wendy & Ms. Celina in her infant room was the reason I chose this place. They always had smiles on their faces, took the time to address us, and we're just all around personable. They seem to genuinely care about the kids. Once my child switched to toddler is where it all changed. Some of the girls are great but some don't even say a word and look upset/frustrated most of the time. I get it, toddlers are tough but c'mon. In this group, my child was bitten 3 times in a 2 weeks span. As a childcare administrator myself, I understand that incidents like this occur especially with this age group. I feel with it being 3 times that it could have been prevented after the 1st or even 2nd time but yet it still occurred. The director told me countless times that they are doing "their best". Yet it still kept on occurring after multiple times of my husband and I telling them to separate the children. The girls in the room and on the phone calls assured us that my child would not be near the child that bites. Which obviously was not followed through. This could easily have been prevented if they have had separated the children. I also told them that it would be okay for them to put my child into another group to keep her safe but this was not done. (This is easily done, as they do it for ratio purposes when they send people on lunch/breaks). After speaking with Pam after the 3rd incident on 8/1 she let me know she was dismissing the biting child from the program with a "2 week" notice as it states in their handbook. With that said, I asked her how was she going to prevent this from happening again during this 2 week span and all she could say was " we will try our best", again not reassuring us of any safety. The following day 8/2 my child went to daycare and my husband picked her up from school. He also addressed his concerns with the staff. At this time, Judy the owner of the company slandered my child by saying " well your child isn't a perfect child, she bites too" in front of all the children and staff. (mind you, My child has never bitten any child before that we know of). She then proceeded to ask staff to pull out my daughters file to verify. We put in our 2 week notice Monday, 8/6 to discontinue My child's program. On Tuesday, 8/7 we receive the letter stating our last day will be Friday, 8/10 with no option to us and no time to find any other childcare or other alternatives. On top of this, this school does not have air conditioning so we would pick our child up from extreme heat inside her room. We brought it up to staff member, Jamie and she stated "the directors told me I can choose to be cool and comfortable or have a paycheck". With has not resolved the heat issue. This is not the first time staff have said negative things about their management. Honestly, Most teachers here are wonderful, the school is adorable, rooms are nice, but some management here need better customer service skills, in my opinion. If you have a safety concern for your child at any daycare it should be automatically addressed, prevented, and you need to be assured that your child will safe. The team at BrightStar are incredible and deeply caring. My son has been on daycare with them since before he was a year old. Our family was crestfallen when Covid forced BrightStar to go on hiatus. We found alternative daycare arrangements for the short term but noticed a marked difference in quality, despite the new daycare having a few bells and whistles in the form of newer facilities and some programming perks. It was shiny, but the staff at the new daycare were best described as cold, tense, and sporting a decidedly corporate vibe. A few incidents occurred in which my son came back with minor injuries, nothing too concerning. The response of the staff at the other daycare was alarming. They "circled the wagons" and started over-documenting every event with my son thereafter. This other local daycare were clearly more concerned with covering their asses and documenting incidents in anticipation of litigation than they were with acting as a resource and building relationships and protecting my son. It was frightening. We took our son out in less than 6 months and relied on family to pick up the slack until BrightStar reopened. My family is overjoyed now that Judy, Jen, Marissa (and the wonderfully caring teachers in the rooms that I hesitate to list by name for fear of missing an important one) are back. This team has my unequivocal and complete trust in caring for the most important aspect of my life, my son. I cannot speak in more glowing terms. They're also really nice. read more

Son started going here when he was 1 and has now been at Bright Star for almost two years. Me and my wife have enjoyed all of the teachers he has had in all the classes he has been in, and more importantly my son has as well. Throughout the years we have seen him develop (social skills, education, functionally) and are positive a large portion of that is due to the time he spends at Bright Star, and we let everyone with children who asks know how much of credit we give to his daycare. Just an example, shortly after he started here we noticed my son was not talking as much as he probably could/had the ability to, and shortly after we began to notice this the teachers in his toddler class noticed it as well and asked us about it. They let us know that they were going to begin focusing on getting him to use his words and we agreed to do the same at home, and we appreciated that it seemed to come from a place of caring and wanting the best for our son. read more

Our little boy started here over in the beginning of the summer and he loves it. All the teachers are super sweet and little Dyl' pickle has made huge developmental strides since starting here. My 2 year old son has been much more into reading and comes home signing songs about the colors of the rainbow and knows the months of the year. I work with my son at home but the school has definitely provided a safe and fun learning environment for him to thrive. I sometimes feel guilty that I cannot spend more time with my son since I am a full time working mom but at least I can take solace in knowing that my son is spending his time in a fun, safe, and educational environment. I have/had 2 kids at Brightstar Learning Center (BSLC). The staff is amazing at what they do and both my children have gained so much from the educational lessons. My 3rd grader is now in the GATE program with his school and I believe, BSLC had a lot to do with that. He loves to read and he picked up this good habit at BSLC! My son was a biter. He got kicked out of his previous pre-school because he was biting so much. My friend recommended Bright Star. I called and spoke with the director. We went over the policies and his behavioral issues. She assured me that they will work with him and not kick him out because of biting. Biting is natural for young children and not to worry. He cried for the first week and a half. He hit a few children in the beginning. He's been there for two months now. He loves all of his teachers. He's excited to see his teachers and his friends at pre-school. Best of all he doesn't hit or bite anymore. I can't say enough good things about this school. They interact with the children so much. Very caring staff. A lot of the staff has been there for over 7 years. Bright Star Learning Center is a life saver. I don't worry about my little one at pre-school anymore. read more

First of all S.G. above that posted negatively, posted on the wrong place. There is a Bright "Start" near her and that was where she went (notice she lives in Malibu). Not Bright "Star". That said...BrightStar is truly the best place your child could be. After both my nephews were there for 5+ years, I took both of my kids there. They learned things there I would have never thought to teach them at home. The staff is well educated and knows parenting and social development better than most, if not all, the parents. I happened to be there during a neighborhood emergency (exploded generator across the street) and was absolutely amazed at the quick, organized, and professional manner in which they handled the kids and the situation. I read the review on 9/19/2018 and my wife and I wanted to express our view on this facility - we love this place. Each room (from infants, toddler, pre-school) has been fantastic and our oldest (now in the pre-school program) is thriving. In fact, she is always singing new songs, reciting various colors/shapes/months/years, talking about new friends, and loves the different activities and weekly themes (such as family, colors, shapes, etc). She is learning new material every day and we are very happy with her progress. The director and office staff are professional and the teachers are caring. We have not had the biting issue that the reviewer on 9/19 expressed but we do understand that it occurs as most toddlers go through such phases.In any event, I feel overall that this place deserves high marks as a daycare / pre-school. read more

I moved my 1.5 year old son and 4 year old daughter here about four months ago after leaving a different daycare. I really wish I had done it sooner!!! My son's talking has completely taken off, and he suddenly has a newfound love for books and being read to. The teachers seem to know him so well, they already know all his favorite things to do and play with. My daughter is in such a great mood now when I pick her up, and is always telling me fun facts like "camels live in the desert" or "our president is Donald Trunk" (lol). They give me accident reports or call me over even the slightest of scratches, which I LOVE, because it means they are paying attention at all times and feel it's important to keep parents informed. Everyone here seems to truly care about getting to know my children and taking incredible care of them. We've been very happy with Brightstar so far. read more

As a first time parent, I was (and still am) extremely cautious and overprotective. My son is a toddler, and has never had a babysitter (besides his grandmother). His entire first year he was taken care of by his grandmother, but on his first birthday she had to go back East and so it was time for him to attend daycare. I was so emotional and worried, but the staff at BrightStar made it such an easy transition for me, and it was so much fun that my son looked forward to going. For the first week they let me take my time dropping him off, and I could pop in anytime (and call several times a day) to check on him. Of course he was doing great, but it helped me make it through the day without worry. Now he has been at BrightStar for almost a year and he loves it. He loves his teachers and he has made some great friends. When he meets other toddlers who are not in daycare, you can definitely see how advanced his social skills are (especially sharing) and he is always surprising us each day with something new he learned at school (Head Shoulders Knees and Toes song is the most recent surprise, and he knows all of his shapes and colors!). The BrightStar teachers are also very engaged in the children's different personalities and developmental challenges. As a one year old coming into the terrible twos, toddlers start challenging authority and pushing the limits. As a first time parent, I am not used to this and just want to give him everything he wants (spoiled!). The teachers help give me advice on effective methods to make sure he learns the boundaries and will become a model citizen :) It's hard to hear sometimes, but it is much appreciated, and he is learning life skills that will help prepare him for Kindergarten and the real world! read more

Excellent place to trust your child with! My son is my best buddy and I'm extremely protective of him. Speaking as a Police Officer, I can say without a doubt, that the teachers, staff, and management have been amazing with my little 14 month old guy. He's been there since he was 6 months old. As a new parent, the staff and management have consistently worked with us to help and guide with his developmental skills. I'm extremely impressed with how much they care about each individual child, as well as the communication with parents. As a Police Officer, I see a lot of things that make me an untrusting individual in my personal life. I can say with 100 percent, BrightStar has earned my trust with my son through the past 9 months. My son has been coming here since he was an infant. The level of care and attention paid to him has been outstanding from the beginning. The staff here are caring and it shows on all levels. My little one is ready for kindergarten now will be leaving this place very soon and it will be a sad day for us. i started my daughter here about 4 years ago after an extensive preschool search (as well as sat in on all the classes at different schools). I LOVE brightstar, they have been nothing less than amazing with my child. She started at 2.5 and still goes now for summer school and after school care. Their curriculum helped her be top of her class at a prestigious private school when entering Kindergarten. My toddler son was here for about 2 months. I would not recommend them. A couple of the teachers are really great but a couple of them are very negative that clouds over the place. (Picture the lunch lady barking at the kids.) They act like they do not want to be there and are bothered by any questions. There is a lack of communication and follow-through here and most of the time what I had asked never happened. They spend the last 30 minutes cleaning - sorry but we're paying a good price here for care the children should be cared for not pushed aside while cleaning. Additionally the administration was very unprofessional. They still owe me my deposit after quickly disenrolling my son after we gave our notice. The director called and yelled at me and told me to come and pick up my son. I was utterly shocked at their behaviour. We gave notice because after 6 weeks my son's personality had really changed. He starting hitting, saying bad words and getting into time outs at school. At home he was also acting up. I started to worry if he was ok. I had to trust my gut and get him out of here. I would never recommend this school to anyone! My son has been to two previous schools with very positive experiences but this place is scary. We've changed schools now and are both happier. read more

I have been sending my little one (now 15 months) to Bright Star LC for almost a year, and I have been very happy with the level of professionalism and care that they provide. The staff is very friendly and they are very "by the book" when it comes to safety, following liscencing rules, and child/adult ratios. I always feel like I'm leaving my little one in good hands, that she is safe, and that she is being given good mental and social stimulation while I'm at work. There are no TVs anywhere like at a home day care, so I know that she won't be sat infront of the "TV baby sitter" or ignored. If she every falls and gets a boo-boo, I always get a call and an "ouch report." The only down side, which would be true of any day care as opposed to a nanny, is that more kiddos equals more germs/colds. But, I think the cognitive and social benefits of being around infants/toddles her age outwieghs the occasional cold, and the cost is less than a nanny, of course. read more

I picked this center about 7 years ago (after looking at many places) and I am so glad I did. My youngest is now in pre-school and my oldest go for after school and summer school. The staff taking care of my youngest are the same who were there when I enrolled my oldest so many years ago. Their lack of staff turn-over says a lot about why it is such a great place. The directors and the teachers have been wonderful and nurturing and we always know that our kids are happy, safe, and being well cared for. After so many years, we have gotten to know them all well and appreciate them so very much. They also do a great job preparing kids for kindergarten, have wonderful play areas, and have lots of fun summer activities as well as spring and holiday shows. Best daycare around! We relocated and so we sadly had to switch. I had one child in infant care and I knew he was loved and safe. My middle school aged came to BrightStar for after school care and always enjoyed his time there. They truly care about you and treat you like family.
