Somewhat new to Texas, I have struggled over the last year with finding someone I can put my absolute trust in. From the very first appointment, we had an immediate action plan. I have made more progress in the last 3 months than I've had in 6 years. Living in pain is scary, frustrating, and debilitating. I have seen exactly 4 pain management doctors here in Texas and Dr. B is the one I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone struggling with pain. He is one of the kindest and most intelligent doctors I have ever met. He is patient, understanding, and is a very attentive listener. Always smiling, never judging, I feel safe with Dr. B. I can't say I've ever felt as safe as I do or trusted a pain management doctor the way I do with Dr. B. He is open and honest and doesn't dance around anything. His bed side manner truly is a class act. It is always a pleasant experience from check in to check out. Ashley is always smiling and ridiculously pleasant. His MA Tony, is phenomenal. He is very easy to speak with, get a hold of, is very thorough, and quite frankly makes me smile even when I'm wanting to cry. Both of them do- Dr. B and Tony. They make a really great team. In my 40 years, I've never met a more competent & efficient MA. I'm no longer scared to leave an appointment feeling like I'm missing something and will have to wait until my next appointment to address it. I have struggled greatly in the past with MAs who have lacked knowledge, a sense of urgency, understanding, or had very poor follow up. Not Tony. No Sir. He is on it!! Best MA award goes to Tony. Dr. B has come to us from Chicago as a highly respected doctor. And the mere fact that Tony has joined Dr. Broadnax and Dr. Anderson on their journey here to Texas is not only a testament to the depth of their teamwork but is also a testament of their trust in each other. Which is then genuinely felt by myself, the patient. So if you are a patient like a was; feeling lost, not quite sure what to do, feeling like your pain is your destiny, convinced this is how you're going to have to live the rest of your life, running into oddball pain management doctors who don't seem to listen, want to try experimental injections on you, or just bandaid the pain with medication, please stop and make an appointment. There IS hope and there truly are good doctors in this state. Dr. Broadnax & his partner, Dr. Eric Anderson have blessed Texas by coming here from Chicago. I feel bad for the patients they had to leave behind. But they are both highly educated and intelligent individuals who know how to treat their patients like humans and with kindness.

With little improvement I made an appointment with Advanced Pain and Dr. Broddnax. After discussion he decided to try a Caudal Epidural Steroid Injection. The next day I felt relief, and today which is day 2, I feel even better. It usually takes a few days to a week for the medication to help, if it does at all. Remember I've had other Epidural's that didn't help. So I'm very hopeful right now, and want to thank Dr Broddnax for all his help.

I went to her for EIGHT years. We never talked about pain...we talked about our daughters, mostly…read moremy animals. She implanted a Nevro spine stimulator that is now an absolutely nightmare. Made me have a psych evaluation to do it. I had been seeing the NP Gale & she was surprised I had it & said who did that, not doc right?! I said yes it was doc & I was told it was obsolete & to turn it off. They did not want to remove it, just wanted to put the newest implant in with it. It gives me discomfort to lie on my back, bc I was a back sleeper, it has scar tissue & it hurts me. The MINUTE I told the NP Gale that I was afraid my body had become addicted to hydrocodone bc I had been taking 3 a day for 8 years, all he!! broke loose. I had previously been on antidepressants & I am 100% sure it's bc of my back pain plus I did have a very hard 2024...Bhandari listened to the events in 2024 & said, I need a drink after hearing all this & then asked me if I knew of the place Sip & Savor in Highland Village...her NP gave me an anti depressant, I took it for 30 days, came back & Gale said did it help, I said no & that was the end of it UNTIL I told them the hydrocodone wasn't working. They found Xanax in my drug test & I no longer had a rx, took one of my husband's. Gale told me to get a rx but Bhandari insisted that I go to a psychiatrist to get the rx...I went to my pcp & got the rx & Bhandari was ENRAGED. Her medical assistant taunted me saying "you didn't go where you were supposed to" & I calmly said I did have a rx. I was very confused bc Bhandari's office had given me the anti depressant I had been on. Gale saw me that day & started crying, my husband is a witness, bc I didn't understand why Bhandari was being this way. Gale calked me a week later & said as long as I had Xanax, I could not have hydrocodone...this is simply a LIE. EIGHT years & this is how I was treated. Dr. Bhandari is not a nice person & does not care about pain management, at least not 8 years of mine. I hope Gale gets away from her asap while she still cares, listens & wants to help her patients. Do not go to Dr Bhandari.

Post-op care is inadequate from this business. My husband had back surgery by Dr. Tolhurst one…read moremonth ago. Met this surgeon on the day of surgery only. Not a talkative person but since I am a nurse with OR experience I was well informed so I just expected his lack of communication and no red flags were raised. When my husband developed a surgical site infection one month after the surgery, I found the whole office had a lack of communication. I had already started treating the superficial infection with sterile betadine and sterile dressings because phone calls were not returned nor text messages answered. When I did get in touch with some one three days after the first phone call, they were uninformed and uncaring. We are in the emergency room now getting blood cultures and another CT of his back. He is sicker after surgical intervention than before...still haven't talked to Dr. Tolhurst since the day of surgery ...I will be investigating his post op infection rate and complications rate. I will also let our primary care physician and other doctors know of our experience and displeasure with Dr. Tolhurst. Very disappointed with Texas Back Institute also.

I left multiple phone messages and emails without any return calls. Went to their office and picked up the order on 9/30/22. Receptionist acknowledged that their system shows I left them messages. No explanation for why no one called me or why they didn't send the orders to my requested imaging location. I hand delivered the orders to Touchstone Imaging only to find out the orders were written incorrectly. Touchstone called TBI to get corrected orders and was told that I must schedule another appointment to get them corrected. I sent multiple messages to them through the portal about this. Again..... no response. Experience here couldn't have been worse.

Run away from this place! Scam. $8,000 for treatment, appliance and laser therapy. What treatment?…read more? Appliance works. Laser therapy is a joke and lasts for a month. Their main sales pitch is that they looked over my insurance and $5,000 for appliance is covered. Confirmed with them twice. But, not covered !! Pay us and wait for check from ins company. Boy was I duped. They will reschedule multiple times because the dentist decided to go out of town. This is a dentist office that decided they could work less and make more money by selling you an appliance. No other anti-snoring option available. Appliance or nothing. Front office is chaos and incompetent. The technicians that actually do the work are nice and well trained.

Initially, I was very excited to begin treatment here. I'd like to start by saying the issue is not…read morewith any of the medical staff or even the office staff- everyone is polite and I don't wish to slander employees that were just doing their best. In December, I was told the price would be a whopping $6256. I could not afford that in my wildest dreams. But- they told me that insurance would cover a large portion, especially after doing a sleep test (which apparently I didn't score high enough for insurance to care), bla bla bla. I spent the next few months trying over and over to figure out the insurance stuff. Phone calls, emails, claims filed and denied, scanning through my Explanation of benefits on both my medical and dental insurance. Mind you- I had been told both by my insurance provider back in December (UHC in case you're curious) and this place a large amount would be covered. Insurance originally said 90% coverage due to the nature of my treatment, but then went down to 70% since it was out of network. "OK, Fine" I thought. It make still take me forever to pay off that additional 70%, but OK. Well surprise, once the claim actually went through, they didn't offer any at all. It is now the end of April. I have had what seems like endless back and forth conversations with the billing department, my insurance, and the medical provider and I feel like I'm walking in circles. I am stressed out. Honestly- as a young adult taking care of such a big medical expense for the first time, I feel taken advantage of and mislead. Have I been swindled? I don't know. All I know is that I am desperately trying to take steps to get my money back and dispute the charge with care credit. If I can't get this solved, this mistake is going to take me years to pay off. As for the treatment- I believe they would have had more success with a different device, which they admitted in their last appointment with me. There's a lot of positive reviews and I don't doubt that the people that can afford a 6K expense are getting their moneys worth. I appreciate the medical staff and office staff trying to be helpful. Maybe it comes down to just being a young adult making a poor-informed decision because I was in pain and looking for relief.
