One of my favorite parts of the service is the greeting time: most churches give you 3 minutes before you have to rush back to your seat, but here the greeting time extends through almost the entire worship, which I think really helps build connections among members and visitors. Do be prepared for a possible culture shock if you're used to evangelical or fundamentalist Baptist churches. Redeemer comes from a charismatic background. If you prefer a charismatic church don't be deterred by the "Baptist" in the title (which they actually dropped from their name years ago, I don't know why it's still listed as "Redeemer Fellowship Baptist Church" on Yelp), you will feel at home here. The worship is contemporary, with their head pastor, John Piippo, as the lead guitarist. The pastor has a doctorate in philosophy and it shows in the emphasis on discipleship here. All the messages I have heard have been solid. I know not every layperson represents the church as a whole, but I have heard some irresponsible teaching on the charismatic gifts by some of the laypeople--never from the leadership, however.

Denominations don't matter to me, and neither do lofty theological discussions about this or that. What matters to me is whether or not the Gospel is being taught. We love architecture, we love art, and we are people of faith. We find a peace in going to these beautiful structures dedicated to the divine. Cathedral Queen of the Holy Rosary is truly exquisite. It is a large cathedral done in Spanish Plateresque style and was done with Toledo, Spain in mind. In order to tour the church, we got permission from the church offices which are located in the adjoining Rosary Cathedral Catholic School. We were truly grateful to tour this awe-inspiring church! It was a wonderful experience!

I haven't been to services here, but we happened to come to this church by accident. Our car engine…read moreblew on a very cold Saturday afternoon. We pulled over to this church parking lot to survey the damage. We called AAA and waited...the engine was not working so there was no heat. Our van was stalled in the middle of the parking lot, so while we waited, I put the car in neutral and my family and I pushed the van into a parking space. A short while later a man living next to the church, who was also a church member, came out to where we were and saw we had my children with us and told us that we could wait in the church where it was warm and the furnace was running. He said to make ourselves feel at home inside the church while we were waiting. We were very grateful because the temperature was getting cold in the van. The church was very clean and warm and inviting. The man said that the children could play with the toys in the children's room which kept my kids occupied until we got help later on. This church was a blessing for our time of need and the one member represented kindness and care for us while we were stranded. It's a good reflection of their church, I would say. Blessings to them.
