I fell in love with Pastor Tony's preaching from the first minute I wandered into a service and his heart for the lost and for evangelizing is very refreshing. The worship music is contemporary and always leads me to praise God. I can expect to hear a solid message every time I visit, and it's also extremely engaging. The church does an excellent job of connecting with your family and getting you involved. There is a four-part new members class designed to teach the basics of the faith as well as what the church believes. The new members class is also a great chance to get to know people.

I have had an opportunity to work with them on several outreach projects and I've worked closely with one of their ordained men. In a time when Americans and churches are turning inward, Monroe Outreach Assembly of God is reaching out to make a difference for the kingdom. I recently attended their pastor appreciation week service. I picked the right week to visit: there was a luncheon afterward with great food, and I got to mingle and get to know some people, including the guest preacher. The church building is a beautiful old church with stained glass windows and old (but comfortable) pews. This is a small congregation: about 50 members a week attend this service, so if you're looking for a small church to settle down in, this one may be worth checking out.

Truly a disappointing and sad experience with this church. I have never felt so ostracized in my…read morelife than while I attended a service last week at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church. The sanctuary was beautiful and I was excited to try out this church with the intention of finding my new church home after moving from Arizona. As a first timer I was only greeted once before service by the greeters at the front door who seemed occupied with a conversation with someone else. I walked in with my toddler in my arms and a broken heart. I walked into the sanctuary with my child and took a seat in one of the middle sections and waited for the service to start. The message itself was great, they had a different pastor than their usual one. They stated at the beginning that he was taking time off with his family. During the worship songs and before the message had even started I was approached by an older women asking for me and my son to leave due to my sons crying being " a distraction" and "disruptive" to the service and the people in the congregation that came to learn. Long story short... I chose to stay the whole message/service and did not take my child out. Although I wanted to leave multiple times and wanted to cry my eyes out whenever my baby started to make any type of sound.. I stayed. I can't even properly describe the way the interaction with that older woman made me feel. Humiliation, sadness, anger for my child and heartbreak for the way we were treated as first time visitors might be the only way to describe my utter disbelief.

Monroe Missionary Baptist is the best church I have ever attended. They work hard to handle the word of God properly and there is so much love here. The staff is great and the facilities are topnotch. One of my favorite things is that there are always opportunities to serve God here.

This church has a high view of Scripture, which is so important. I've only had a preliminary view of their congregation and I like what I see, but I'm sure I'll have more good things to write about as I get to know them better.
