A Taste of Hallandale Beach Florida…read more My wife and I were visiting my brother in Hollywood, Florida, all the way from California. Since we had only a short time there, we wanted to experience as much of the local food culture as possible. As we met and talked with locals, one place kept coming up: Fresh and Wild. So, naturally, we had to check it out. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by a gentleman who I believe was the owner. We then met the chef, a young woman who clearly knows her way around the kitchen, and her brother, who seemed to be the true "Jack of all trades," making sure everything was running smoothly. The chef took our order: Peruvian fish, black beans and rice, along with a sushi roll. And let me tell you... WOW! The food was sooooo good fresh, flavorful and absolutely delicious. My wife and I literally sat there shaking our heads in amazement at how good everything was. To the entire Fresh and Wild family, thank you for making two visitors from California feel right at home while serving up some incredible food. Your hospitality and the love you put into what you do definitely didn't go unnoticed. If you're in Hallandale Beach area do yourself a favor and check out Fresh and Wild. You won't be disappointed!

Captain Jim's has the freshest seafood in North Miami…read more We often dine in, but occasionally we've also taken fish or lobsters to grill when tailgating etc., and it's always way better and fresher than what we would have picked up anywhere else. Choosing which lobster or yellowtail from the ice counter you want them to prepare, and how you want it prepared, is a fun part of the dining experience for us. Occasionally they have hog snapper or another fresh catch available. The fried lobster tail was fantastically seasoned with a little kick, and I've never had it prepared this way, chopped up into bite-sized pieces. Very filling and we could have shared one, but we still managed to devour both tails and left very full and satisfied. Each tail, including one side, was about $40 - but market price items vary based on size and weight of what's available that day. There are also plenty of less expensive options on the menu. One of my favorites is the yellowtail sandwich. And if you get there before 7:00pm you can order some oysters and lobster croquettes from the happy hour menu. Captain Jim's is a casual and comfortable restaurant with marine decor where the food is the star. Service is always friendly, helpful, and attentive.

This is truly a one-stop shop…read morewhere you can find just about everything from fresh produce, a variety of seafood, and quality cuts of meat to beer and wine, groceries, deli items, and freshly prepared hot food. The meat department is especially impressive, with a huge selection of beef, pork, chicken, goat, lamb, sausage, ribs, whole cuts, and more. The full-service counter can also prepare meat the way you want it. The seafood selection offers many varieties of fresh fish, including snapper, kingfish, catfish, mullet, and other options, along with additional frozen and salted seafood choices. You can also grab ready-to-eat hot food like fried fish, roast pork, chicken, beef short ribs, oxtail, and more, or buy different pork cuts including ribs for cooking at home. The store also carries a variety of beer and wine. The store was clean, spacious, well organized, and packed with variety. Definitely a great place to shop for fresh food and international products all in one place. I'll definitely be back!

The employees keep the store clean and well organized. The shining star here though are the prices! Today I picked up enough groceries for the week and beyond and it cost $97. That's including 4lbs of chicken, 2lbs of pork and 2lbs of ground beef. Now here's the downside, coming here on a weekend is INSANE. Coming early in the morning or during the week is best. I would never step foot in here on a weekend again because it's absolutely ridiculous. Otherwise, I'm a fan!

Located along Pembroke Rd. in Miramar; S & A Caribbean Market is a small business, part market/restaurant, that carries various Caribbean items such as snacks, vitamins, beverages, grocery and baking items, seasonings, canned goods; and many more at very reasonable prices from Jamaica, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, etc. There's also a section where you can get meat by the pound. There was only one person running the market and he was very pleasant. When I told him about the items I was looking for, which was split pea flour, and tumeric powder, he was kind enough to show me where the items was located. We even had a small conversation. As he was giving me tips to make the pholourie, he thought I was from Trinidad because of the way I spoke. I get that from people sometimes, but when I speak to Caribbean people, the island accent does come out. I didn't get the chance to venture through the restaurant because I had less than an hour before the business closed, but my Trini friend told me they make good roti so I got to come back to try some. I will also return to purchase other island items.
