Gracenote is a cute coffee shop at the edge of Chinatown with high quality brews. We got two lattes to try and watched the barista brew the espresso fresh and the whole process done right in front of us. The baristas behind the counter are knowledge about their craft and were willing to answer any questions/accommodate requests to the best of their ability. The flavors were incredible. We got two of the seasonal specials with almond milk and are obsessed. Wishing they offered bigger sizes, BUT you really can't beat their quality. Price wise, they're on par with other specialty coffee shops in the area. For a seasonal special latte with almond milk and an extra shot of espresso, I paid around $8.50 - which is steep yes but considering how amazing it was, I think I could justify the cost every now and then. This is more of a grab and go cafe as opposed to a sit down situation, so don't expect to bring work and get it done here. I think that actually works out in their favor because it keeps the environment less cluttered and allows the baristas to actually do their job rather than having to worry about cleaning tables or dishes. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a specialty shop! read more

I really, really like this small coffee roaster that's on the outskirts of Boston's Chinatown. Their beans are amazing...all three of the ones I've tried have been almost perfectly roasted to bring out the natural flavors of the coffee. They always have two pour-over options, and they do a great job making them. The baristas are super knowledgable; I always enjoy standing and talking to them while they make my drink. Also, I never thought I would say this, but they make a really good instant coffee...10000X times better than nescafe or any other instant brand, and worth picking up one or two single-serving packets for the road. This will likely become my "go-to" coffee shop in Boston, and hopefully it will be yours too! read more

Kinda surprised how small this place was given how much hype there is for Gracenote, but the hype is well worth! I got a ginger chai latte (ginger, cardamom, star anise) and it was perfect! It was super aromatic and the taste of it amazing if you like spices. Perfect for the fall weather. Gracenote is a cute coffee shop tucked in the Leather District (between Chinatown and South Station). They are very small and only have standing room with some beautiful wood counters. While they have a solid selection of beans (for their drinks and for sales), they are extremely inconsistent with their coffees. Sometimes their Americanos are very well made, other times, you end up with a ton of grinds in the bottom of your cup. It seems to really vary and this detracts from its allure if you don't know if you are going to enjoy your coffee that day, or if it is just "coffee". read more

This was the most bizarre coffee shop experience I've ever had. Their menu is pretty limited with only cane sugar syrup as a sweetener option, which wasn't the issue. On their seasonal menu they had a ginger chai available hot or iced. Sounded great, so I asked for an iced ginger chai and asked them to make it a dirty chai (chai with an espresso shot added) and the barista looked at me with a straight deadpan face and said no I can't do that. I said, "....what?" She said that the ginger doesn't pair well with espresso so she "can't"make that drink. I didn't know the barista was the one drinking the drink I ordered...a dirty chai isn't a strange or difficult request, and I LIKE the taste of ginger in espresso, but she refused to make it for me. It would've been different if she was like "hey I don't think that will taste good, but we'll make it if you really want it" instead of just saying no I can't make that. I should've ordered an iced ginger chai with a shot of espresso on the side and just put it together myself, but I walked out instead. So strange, and I probably won't be back after the barista's weird attitude. read more

Hidden in plain sight on Lincoln St., Gracenote is a coffee shop with a limited menu. I've been seeing recommendations to Gracenote as it is one of the better coffee shops in the Boston area. Since we were in the area, I decided to make the recommendation to my friends to try this place together. I ordered the hot miso caramel latte. It came with a cute latte art in a 12 oz cup. I prefer to take my latte more on the side of being able to taste the espresso and I think that the staff at Gracenote did a fine job on finding that balance with the miso caramel. $6 for a small cup of latte is a bit too much, but I know that it's the quality of the coffee that I'm paying for. read more

I hate to be the dissenting reviewer, but I didn't much care for Gracenote. The staff member was courteous but not that friendly. The espresso machine setup is indeed pretty cool (as other reviewers have noted). The latte tasted fairly good, but I have definitely had better elsewhere. There's also no seating at all. Terrible terrible greasy wayy too giant donut with stale cereal on it (?) this morning. I first visited Gracenote 2 years ago because a friend recommended their canelé and chocolate almond croissants and it did not disappoint with their perfectly made mocha. Sometimes they would also do affogatos and the barista April was very knowledgeable on all the coffee. I even went to a Christmas market they had downstairs one year that had beautiful vintage goods you could peruse while sipping a nice roast. Today was just bad coffee and bad donuts, they've gone wayyy downhill. read more

I ordered the hibiscus ginger tea, but I'd recommend you ask for less ice because the beverage is already fairly watered down. It has a stronger hint of ginger rather than the other tea flavors and was a refreshing afternoon drink. Delicious cappuccino! The milk was steamed to perfection and integrated really well. we also tried the Hojicha Latte. Thy described this as the stem of the green tea plant. Similar to matcha, but very earthy. Definitely a more mature taste but less butter, still refreshing and very unique. I can essentially echo my review of The Coffee Trike, but this brick-and-mortar version of the Trike brings all of the same qualities of the their mobile operation without the need for customers or baristas to brave the elements. The same friendly employees, and the same great coffee, simply housed in a cozy little, seatless shop. It's only been a few days, so I'm looking forward to seeing the space come together, but Gracenote's current semi-complete space has absolutely no bearing on my review.
