What an amazing hidden gem! Driving into the city from Newburyport, my family and I stopped here craving a quick afternoon pick-me-up and we were more than pleasantly surprised by the quality of taste and vibes this place serves up. We were welcomed in and helped super quickly despite being almost closing time, and still got to enjoy some fresh-made, delicious drinks. Their menu offers a variety of traditional options plus a couple fun, unique twists from their flavor syrups to their seasonal specials. (Even if the particular matcha i had wasn't super strong, the caramel banana syrup was INCREDIBLE and made the drink completely worthwhile, so I would highly recommend!) Needless to say, everything we tried was a big hit. Not only would I be more than happy to make the trip to enjoy another of their matcha combos, but I'd come back also for clean, spacious, and calm working atmosphere (luckily there's another location closer to me in Boston too)! This place is a whole vibe. Sleek and coastal and somehow also whimsical, Little Wolf is a great space to have your morning recharge. They make their own variety of flavored syrups, ranging from the standard vanilla to a botanical blend called Bouquet. Most importantly, their beans are incredible. The Finca that they served in my drink was a tasty lighter roast, which enticed me to buy a bag (similar roast, not the same). This price is not very clear but it is $28 (out of sight out of mind, I guess). Of course great coffee requires great baristas. Looking forward to coming back! read more

As a coffee lover, I like to check out local cafes everywhere I go. I fall in love with the blues and the interior as soon as I walk in. The cafe is spacious and has a lot of seatings. I can see myself working there on weekdays. The baristas are also all very friendly and were patiently recommending me different options. They have quite a few range of beans for a small local roaster. I got a hot latte with one of their homemade syrups (toasted coconut) since I was in the mood for something light and sweet. The foam was smooth and light. You can get an equal part espresso and milk in every sip with a subtle hint of coconut flavor. This is when my regrets came in - I should have ordered a pour over or drip to enjoy their flavors. This is another reason for me to come back. They also have good looking pastries that I did not get to try. I wish it was closer or really hoping they open another branch in the city! -10/10 for the space - 9.2/10 for the latte read more

Overall review: 8.2 Ordered two ice coffees, one with vanilla and the other with caramel cold foam (made w/coconut milk). Coffee had great flavor and a smooth after taste. The cold foam tasted more like coconut than it did the flavor. It added a nice touch to the coffee, I wouldn't get it again since I prefer my coffee not as sweet. Price was average, Paid $11 for two large ice coffees. The service was great! They were friendly and welcoming, answered all our questions very kindly. I knew the coffee shop would serve the quality of coffee I crave because they are followed by both Sprudge and my trusted speciality coffee shop in Indianapolis (Amberson Coffee) on Instagram. The baristas are friendly and help an indecisive person make a decision on which beans to use for her pour over. The pour over I had was perfectly dialed in. They do have some pastry selection; however, nothing of true substance (like a breakfast sandwich or avocado toast). I did buy a bag of beans to take home to use for my pour overs. I want to like this place more than I do. I see the owners lived in Seattle as did I so I expected really great coffee. However, I just don't like the taste of their coffee - it has an acidic taste to me and I prefer a darker roast. Maybe it's just me. The cafe has a minimalist and almost sterile, cold environment which may or may not suit you. But there's a feeling of space in there with enough seating including a large common table and bar seating as well as some banquet seating. And they don't have blaring music playing which is a plus for me. I do love their chive scone and I'll go back for that anyway. I can't speak to the actual cafe, but I've heard wonderful things. As a mail order roaster, this one had been on my radar and a top of the list option for a long time. The drawbacks that kept me from choosing them for my ever rotating monthly coffee haul from different roasters across the country was two fold: smaller counts of beans and no pricing promotions. They finally rose to the top of my list, and I'm glad they did. Their beans were amazing, and although the bags were a shorter count than I was used to, the unit price was comparable. I loved each single origin I tried, and will certainly be back. My only wish and suggestion would be for them to offer more frequent discounts to mail order customers. First time here off a recommendation from a friend who's a local (her favorite coffee shop in Ipswich). I got an iced vanilla latte with oat milk, and it was everything I want in an espresso, and conveniently the same price as a lot of Dunkin espresso drinks! The vanilla is homemade and the latte had just the right amount of syrup so that it I could taste the vanilla but the (delicious) espresso was still at center stage. The staff were incredibly friendly and the shop looks like a great place to sit and do work. Walk into Little Wolf and you will be smacked in the face with the spartan, intimidating feel of every third wave cafe; but fear not! The staff is kind and warm, the menu is sparse and tight, the pastries are elevated and delicious, and the coffee is glorious. A place where you can find awesome coffee, serene surroundings, delightful design, and cool owners? Plus a side of coffee-tea geek out? Little Wolf has it all. The Tall Man and I were heading up to Crane Beach over a recent holiday, and as per my habit, I wanted to find a coffee shop along the way. And it ends up Ipswich has the best coffee roaster in the state (according to Food & Wine)! They were going to be closed on the holiday in question, so we drove up the day before to check them out. It was such a worthy trip. The cafe is on the outskirts of downtown Ipswich, in a small strip of repurposed garages-turned-businesses. They've done an incredible job making their space bright and spacious, with a good amount of seating without feeling cramped. It wasn't too busy, so we had a chance to chat a bit with the sweet owners and pick their brains about coffee, tea, and life beyond Boston. It's a new-ish business and it's just the two of them, yet they've managed to create some of the best coffee I've had in their 2+ years. Over the course of a couple hours, we got two cappuccinos (whole milk and almond milk), a cortado (I think -- it was hard to keep track), and an iced chai latte (made with Dona Chai concentrate). Maybe even something else. It was that tempting. We learned the way they pull their espresso is different than other coffee shops, so the cappuccinos were not as strong as other places, but were both flavorful and subtle. The chai was not too sweet and more spiced (but not spicy, if that makes sense), which struck a nice balance. I didn't try their tea (from Spirit Tea), but there's always next time. And there will be a next time, for sure. Even when I'm not planning on a beach trip. If you can't make it up to the North Shore, Clover sells their beans (excellent, if a bit pricey for the 8 oz quantity) and also brews their coffee. P.S. Little Wolf is one of my top spots on the North Shore. They offer some of the lightest roasts you'll experience (note: if you're not a light roast lover, LW might not be your jam). So glad they opened the cafe location next to the roasting building, as the cafe is now so spacious with amazing natural light. My only critique is that the baristas are sometimes not the friendliest. There are other cafes in the area where you feel like the workers are glad to be there; smiles and hello's go a long way :) That said, I love Little Wolf and it is always on my list of cafes to take friends and family too. I liked the blue mugs that our lattes were served in. They offer pastries and cute merchandise with their little wolf logo. This is actually one of the greatest gems of the North Shore. The owners are friendly, kind and always remember your name. It is kinda of far from much else, but 100% worth the drive. Not only is the coffee quality, but the venue is beautifully decorated, with a variety of seating and even a garage door that gets opened in nice weather. We stopped by Little Wolf because we are coffee lovers and enjoy trying local roasters when we travel. They have a nice simple menu where the coffee is the star of the show, not fancy drinks. We got a hot latte and a cappuccino to go. Despite being in the paper to-go cup, the presentation of the cappuccino was perfect. The coffee flavor was rich and chocolatey with a bit of brightness, making it a perfectly balanced coffee for me. We decided to grab some whole beans to take home as well! The inside of the building is industrial with lots of natural light coming in. I could see this being a great place to sit and read a book or even chat with friends over coffee. read more

If the apocalypse was near and I had to pick one last coffee establishment to remain among the ruins, it would probably be Little Wolf (although Heart in Portland, OR would be in serious contention). It's just perfect! The space is so welcoming from the moment you step in, which I'm pretty sure is a Feng Shui thing. And don't think there aren't some serious roasting chops behind the cute exterior, because Little Wolf's coffee is an excellent example of the New England Third Wave. I loved my cup of coffee (and my friend's Guava Lime Latte was delicious--and not nearly as extreme as it sounds). Their beans receive some real accolades from people who take their coffee a lot more seriously than I do, and I think it's well deserved. read more

This is a great little coffee shop. The coffee is spectacular. For any coffee lovers who have been to Seattle in the last decade or so you will recognize the style and the flavor of the beans -- very distinct earthy flavors. There are more and more shops like this popping up on the East Coast. Kind of like speckled ax if you've been there. Very minimalist, limited menu --- it's all about the coffee and that's a good thing but unfortunately, little wolf (like some of the other coffee shops on the East Coast in the same style) seems to think healthy dose of attitude and condescension is required to serve good coffee. So be prepared to be treated like an idiot If you ask questions or anything. I recommend ordering the coffee and limiting interactions to just the transaction. Otherwise you'll leave feeling yucky. Been occasionally ordering their beans for about a year and FINALLY made it up to visit the Ipswich location (from JP) recently. Set in an unassuming building, Little Wolf has a nice (but small) seating area and would be a great spot to meet friends. The real star of the show is their coffee. I feel so lucky to have Little Wolf as an option for coffee. It is amazing! The owners are so kind, the coffee they roast is amazing. I can enjoy a delicious latte or cappuccino with quality local GRASS FED milk or a great quality sugar free almond milk. Very hard options to find. Also two very important things in our household. Little Wolf is one of the few third-wave coffee places I've found on the North Shore. It's a great experience. The place is designed very beautifully, with a modern minimalist feel and music flowing through an old record player. I talked to Chris who was very friendly and went into great detail about their ethos and process of choosing coffees to roast and blends to serve. I had their iced coffee and it was delicious. There's something about Little Wolf: the white walls, the inoffensive music from that deep cuts Spotify playlist you made and forgot about, the variety of seating, the fact that it's basically a hip garage, the various freelancers hanging about looking productive, the coffee...I could (and do) spend hours working here. HIPSTER JOKE SHOP! Coffee isn't very good either, neither is the espresso. If u want a nice espresso, or regular coffee that's consistently delicious go to Zumis downtown. They also have live music, local art, ice cream, a huge deck with a view of the Ipswich river, lots of in house special blends u can buy and they will grind for you. The owners are usually working there and are super friendly and all the baristas are super friendly! Also they are fair trade with everything possible.
