I caked to ask if I could drop in the 3hrs evening open mat. The Prof answered the call & welcomed me to join his students. Both Gi & NoGi were welcome and there's no Gi color requirement. Those were my only concerns. I was able to roll for most of the 3hrs until people started resting. Only about 7 people showed up but as a Purple Belt I was glad to roll with their Brown Belt a few times, both Gi & NoGi, as well as a few tough Blue & White Belts. Everyone was friendly and considerate rolling partners. I definitely recommend that you drop in if you can.

I was tired of the gym with overly aggressive classmates that would crush my ribs, being confused with a non-systematic approach to working from the fundamental techniques, and a culture that did not feel welcoming. It was hard for me to commute to the previous martial arts gym, so I had been referred from a friend to take a trial the class. Inside I met the head instructor Youness, he's a great guy who's very welcoming and has very strong values for a healthy martial arts community. He guided me towards steps to achieve the goals I wanted to tackle, answered any question without any BS, built an environment where people don't crush your ribs in your first few classes, and worked on the core fundamentals. It's a reasonable price to start since they just opened last year and are basically like private lessons (I'll take full advantage while it's like this). I highly recommend Youness's gym and for it to be a Caio Terra Affiliate because it's a regarded gym that doesn't just promote anyone.

For context, I am 40 years old with almost no combat sports experience, so I was a bit anxious/intimidated before starting the classes. That didn't last long though as the coaches and other athletes here are all extremely friendly and welcoming. The training is top notch and the coaches are exceptional at what they do. You will not only learn the skills but also get an awesome workout. They also offer a wide range of disciplines (ju-jitsu, wrestling, boxing, muay thai) and usually have around 10 different classes daily from early morning to later in the evening to accommodate for different schedules.
