My kids go here for aftercare, lessons, and summer camp. They absolutely love this place! The staff is great with kids and really cares about them and their development. The entire team takes great care of them. They love the lessons and are learning amazing skills. We have also done Saturday morning family classes, which are an outstanding way to connect with your kids. They tried 6 different camps, and this was by far their favorite. There are many bjj gyms out there. Gb Boca has the most diverse schedule for kids and adults in this area, they are on top of it when it comes to billing, organization or any issues. They have morning, daytime and evening classes. Everyone here is positive, all of the young kids are very good and the teens are disciplined. I did bjj ages ago but injuries forced me to stop for 15 plus years. But i wanted to get my children into it to learn discipline through hard work. What i absolutely love about this place is there are always several instructors there to help when you arent doing something right. Compared to old gyms ive trained at where you get lost in a sea of too many people. You get that extra special attention needed and its worth it to me. Im remembering techniques and actively doing them. I started my son on the kids/parents class once a week. It helped me rehab enough to do bjj again. I herniated two spinal discs 3 years ago. Spinal guy said i cant do bjj anymore. And im just now able to be able to do pushups again. And i been in there 2 months and feel awesome! These guys have worked with me to rehab back into being able to do this again. At the same time they are the best school in the area with the kids. I also have 3-4 different professors a week which helps develop different methods that work for you with different sizes and body types. This is the newer larger location and coming from training at a big school. I feel right at home. They are disciplined and firm, they want to teach your kids respect, honor and always be positive and train hard. My kids now both love the classes and are starting to find their way. They have already shown they want to learn, be positive, have discipline and work hard. My son loves it and i feel it pushes him to try his best. There are also some really good people who work the front, the instructor's are all awesome in their own way. One of the most amazing things is, when its raining out there the main instructor is the guy with the umbrella helping you and your children get in the car. There cant be a more humble amazing guy out there while also being an amazing world champion professor. Sergio, Andre, Gui, Jr. Lucas, Maria and all who help are just amazing! I love this place! Amazing school with amazing people. I met some wonderful friends during my time training at GB Boca Raton: Only reason I'm giving 2 stars and not 5 is because the contract should be read carefully. If you pay month to month, you have to give 60 days notice if you want to leave. This was something I was not aware of and I likely would not have signed up if I had known. I already deal with garden leave and long notice periods due to working in a highly competitive/regulated industry. I should not be held hostage by my local jiu jitsu school if I want to go train somewhere else, nobody should. With this said, I think it's a corporate policy not local GB Boca Raton policy. I wanted to take a break because my child was in pain and exhausted, but despite not attending at all in March, they informed me that I would still be charged. The management is extremely poor--they even threatened me to take the payment. A 7-year-old child can change their mind or need a break, but they spoke to me in a highly disrespectful and aggressive manner over the phone. I have nothing bad to say about the coaches, but the management and their policies are unreasonably strict and rude. They threatened me, and I absolutely do not recommend this place. The rules are excessive! They charge a registration fee, additional fees for uniforms, and automatically withdraw money every month. On top of that, they are demanding payment for a month we didn't even attend. read more

What an awesome and welcoming community! I possessed only a little bit of knowledge of martial arts after a career in public safety. As a beginner I have been so impressed by the supportive learning environment. It is so challenging yet so rewarding. GOOD: Nice sized mats; temperature is usually well stabilized; the Head Instructor has placed in most competitions he's attended (if that matters to you) and he's usually pretty welcoming and does a good job of motivating people to reach higher, go further, and push harder. BAD: High turnover rate equates to changes in schedule, instructors, and coaches leading to inconsistency. With the exception of one black belt, pricing is not congruent with the level of instruction. Schedule can be great for a month or two, offering plenty of opportunities for all levels, GI, and no GI; the converse is true-- for months at a time the schedule will offer higher level training and no GI very sparingly. No kickboxing. Favoritism. The mat, while big, can be dirty. Additionally, the summer program for children is a disaster-- I won't go into detail, but please make sure you're doing your homework as a parent. Ultimately, the successes and failures lie with management who have not been able to maintain stability of instruction, staff, or schedule. Running a gym is certainly no easy feat and I commend their efforts. Truthfully, I find this gym falls flat and is why we have recently left. It gives me no satisfaction to write this, but I do it in the interest of transparency for those spending their time and money on a prospective bjj gym. read more

Do not use this studio!! I called and canceled our membership at the start of COVID in 2020 and they have continued to charge me since then. If they check their rosters they will see that my kids have not been there since 2020. I have left multiple voicemails (they never answer their phone) and emailed numerous times and yet have not received a response. I am working with my credit card company but BEWARE!! OMG, I can't believe it! Gracie Barra Abandoned My Child at School and never picked him up for the after school program. We started with aftercare this year and have had a poor experience. My child never had homework completed and complained that the after care coordinator would never help. I gave instructions that my child should finish homework prior to doing any class and that was not respected. I sent a message to Gracie explaining the situation and that we did not care to stay in the program. Two days past and they did not respond to my email. On the third day, 30 minutes before the time for child pick up for aftercare they respond by email that they are canceling the care. No phone call, no text, nothing. Only a message in my inbox. Of course I work which is why I have aftercare so I didn't see the message right away. My Child was waiting there for 1 hour wondering where Gracie was. After that hour the school secretary called to see what was happening. How dare they do that to a elementary school child. Leave them abandoned and scared without ensuring the parent had been communicated with. I DO NOT recommend them. Stay away from this place. They are expensive, inconsiderate and do not care about kids. read more

I can't say enough positive things about Professor Sergio and the whole environment at Gracie Barra Boca Raton. From the perspective of a 38 year old without a background in martial arts or wrestling: this is a very good workout with extremely supportive people around you.
