How are you going to take a break and leave my child practicing by himself while you're outside smoking ! Not happy ! Also be careful when signing your child up I called and spoke with Josh and he informed me the price of $140.00 a month never mentioned a $50.00 registration fee that was the first issue I had then never told us that we needed to buy gloves and wraps! So on his first day we had no choice but to pay more and purchase wraps from the place and then I was told the gloves would be $60 when in fact it was $75.00 ! I would have expected all of this info to be provided when I called and inquired about the class and I asked what was needed like what does he wear etc . That would have been a good time for them to say also on top of the $140 there is a registration fee and he needs to have gloves and wraps to participate! Also the way they go about things like combining multiple age groups into one class is a bit intimidating to a 8 year old. This place treats you like a number and not a person in my opinion. You also have to hound the owner to provide you with an invoice . Otherwise you will get billed all together if not. Another parent mentioned how he had to constantly remind the owner to bill him and then out of nowhere got billed for a total of three months worth of classes . I'm sorry but if I'm paying business I should not have to remind them to bill me on time.

The core group of guys that train regularly can and will roll with anyone without being meat heads smashing the new comers its an etiquette that some places need to adopt, in order to make the experience more enjoyable. Its an unwritten rule to not be harsh to the point of being brutish on any newcomer that is reinforced by everyone who trains here. The primary instructor Fernando does an excellent job teaching the basics to master the building blocks in this discipline, and is regularly sweating it out on the mats with all his students every single day that to me proves two facts which are hard to find in most martial art schools: humility and dedication to ones craft. All are welcome as the door is always open to any and all children, teenagers, women, men. Whether you want to simply train to benefit from the exercise to achieve a healthy lifestyle or your serious about the sport and desire to compete as you begin to acquire the basics its worth a try to give it a shot. There are no gimmicks or contracts just straight Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Everyone there is so knowledgeable, friendly and eager to teach and keep learning. Being a 100% beginner at self-defense and Jiu Jitsu, speaking for myself, I was so scared to feel like I was keeping the class behind or that the other students were going to get impatient because I would need extra help but I haven't felt like that not one bit! Both instructor and students that are ahead in the class happily help you in your journey of learning Jiu Jitsu and even give you tips if they have any to give! Speaking about my son, I couldn't be more grateful of how this kid is changing his behavior and I have to thank Team Hargett for helping with this! The Jiu Jitsu for kids it's one of the greatest classes that my son has ever taken and that I've actually seen results. As an on again off again martial arts practitioner myself, I wanted to find a gym that offered great instruction and a profound level of patience for more analytical, and sometimes hesitant, practitioners like myself. Thus far, I can say that Gino's teachings, and the atmosphere all his students provide, has kept me coming back for more. The training is definitely challenging and grueling at times, as does any great martial arts studio provides, but well worth it when you can walk out of there knowing that your fitness level and self defense confidence increased that much more. For those of you trying him out, I highly suggest coming to the open mat sessions too. It will really help you tighten the holes in your fight game. Also, the monthly tuitions are by far the most affordable compared to other gyms in the valley.

I have about 6 years of prior martial arts training, so I know what a properly run school looks like. That's why I recognized very quickly that something was off here. I signed up and prepaid for a 3-month Kendo program. At enrollment, I was told it would be 4-6 months before needing a uniform and longer before investing in gear. That changed almost immediately. By week two, I was told to buy a uniform, and by week three I was asked to prepay for a full year. At that point, I stopped training after about three weeks. Months later, after repeated follow-ups and having to go in person to push the issue, I finally got the uniform ordered. When it arrived, I was told it had been given to someone else--even though I had already paid for it. I was also told I would receive a partial refund in March. That never happened. I returned once more to try to finish what I had already paid for, but the class itself reflected the same issues--disorganized instruction, students unsure of forms, and basic oversights (such as forgetting required gear mid-class). I walked out. For me, this wasn't just about money--it was the consistent gap between what was said and what actually happened, along with ongoing pressure to pay more early on. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this dojo. I would strongly advise anyone considering training here to ask very direct questions up front and think carefully before committing financially.
