Like others have said, these guys are crooks (or incompetent). Also like others, we had this company sent our by our home warranty. We had a clog in one of the toilets, and the plumber that came to our house pretty quickly came to the conclusion that we had a break in our sewer line that would require us to dig up our lawn and replace the entire line (which he estimated would cost thousands of dollars). Thankfully, we ended up calling a different plumber ourselves, who plunged the outside clean-out drain. This immediately fixed the problem with our toilet. I'm not sure why the plumber from Grade A Plumbing did not try this, nor how/why he immediately concluded there was a break in our sewer line. I have to assume that either (i) he is not a very good plumber or (ii) he was trying to extract as much money from us as possible. Either way, we were stuck paying the $75 fee to American Home Shield for him to come out, only to have to pay a full price to a second plumber to come out and actually fix the problem. If American Home Shield sends these guys your way, ask them for another plumbing company if you want an honest (or competent) assessment of your problem. read more

Update: I discovered this morning that these so-called "master plumbers" left the supply line to my ice maker unconnected when they left without finishing the repair to my faucet. I now have water everywhere in my base cabinet and onto my hard wood floors. This will probably cost me thousands of dollars to repair. These guys are the worst plumbers I have ever seen! This is not the first time I've dealt with Grade A Plumbing...honestly if it wasn't because American Home Shield keeps sending them...ugh. The first time they came to my house it was due to a leak and the plumber could not find it. We didn't find out until the house flooded. Yet the plumber decided it was a good idea to make holes in the wall to try to find a pipe when it was in his face the whole time. They will not arrive on time and will change appointment times without speaking personally to you. They left me a voicemail on a SATURDAY to change an appointment for a Monday morning. Very unprofessional to change an appointment without verifying with someone. When I called to ask where they were the lady I spoke to was rude and condescending. Hands down the worse plumbing company I have worked with, the company is extremely unreliable and will give you the runaround for months and charge you unnecessary service fees. American Home Shield uses them, ask them for another plumbing company if you actually want your problem fixed without having to keep paying service fees. The customer service is terrible, they are extremely rude and even though the technicians aren't bad the communication between them and the company is lacking hence it ends up becoming your problem and they expect you to pay for their internal mess ups. They barely pick up, once they do they will tell you they will get back to you with information you requested but they never do. Took my three months to get my faucet replaced. This company did work in the condo directly above mine. They apparently did not tighten properly a nut which allowed for a slow leak. On July 4,2017 I awoke to water leaking through my bathroom ceiling. I contacted my upstairs neighbor who refused to take responsibility for this. On July 8th my plumber was able to come out. He cut a hole in my ceiling to see where the leak was from. My plumber and I went upstairs. My neighbor allowed my plumber to tighten the nut which stopped the leak. When I contacted them they claimed that because my plumber performed work it voided their warranty. They have refused to pay for my repairs. Grade A Plumbing is not reliable if they need to return to fix an issue. The first appointment I made on April 28, 2020, Ken came out and was great. He came out and repaired the one leak under my kitchen sink and said that the second leak and faucet issue will be fixed when they replace the faucet. I asked if they could let me see the one that they would be ordering so that I didn't have them show up and say after the fact that I did not like it. The one that was shown to me was not the right faucet type. I called and left more messages than one should ever have to for a contractor to come out to finish the repair. I called my home warranty, AHS (they are equally terrible), who also reached out to Grade A Plumbing who said they were going to reach out to me, that never happened. Then in the beginning of May, I finally spoke to someone, Crystal, from Grade A Plumbing but she was absolutely horrible and rude. She said that the notes said that they were waiting to hear from me to order the faucet when I went to explain to her that is not correct and no one has returned my call and the faucet that they showed me wasn't the right one, she started yelling at me, telling me that she just returned from being out of work, something about her boss, and a pregnancy. How is any of that my problem?! On top of which it is absolutely unprofessional. I ended the call because it was completely uncalled for! I also couldn't help but think given what is going on around the world right now, you should be happy and grateful that you were asked to return to work, myself and million of Americans have not been that lucky but you're right you returning back to work and issues with your boss is definitely more important than my leak when you are a plumbing company. No one ever reached out to schedule the appointment. It is May 19, 2020 and I still have the leak and issue with my faucet. They then called to confirm they were on the way. Once they reviewed my situation they gave me a price and and estimate of the time it would take to replace my water heater. I have American home shield and they sent out grade a plumbing to fix a broken faucet in my kitchen. Grade A told them it broke from excessive force. That is so not true. We turn the faucet on and off this faucet has been here before we moved in. It is thin and it broke. Also there was a leak in my bathroom sink they told my insurance company that they would have to take the whole sink apart to fix the faucet and leak. Really. I don't trust them or AHS insurance. Grade A is an F in my book. I bought a house a year ago and immediately had an issue with the toilet. Thankfully I negotiated a home warranty. Unfortunately for me, my home warranty company uses Grade A. They fixed the toilet after multiple visits. Fast forward 9 months and the toilet isn't working again. Again I call my home warranty and again they employ Grade A. From the minute the technician entered my house he started trying to sell me a warranty and new toilet through them, knowing full well I have a home warranty contract with someone else. He determines the issue and tells me he is going to order the items to fix the toilet. I call about a week later to check the status of my order and am told to call the technician. He then proceeds to try to convince me to buy a warranty and toilet through them, again. I tell him I would rather move forward with the repairs for now as that is what the home warranty is for. He tells me he will go ahead and order the parts, why haven't they been ordered yet?!?! It's now been 3 weeks since I created the ticket with my home warranty company. I then proceed to attempt to contact the company for over a week to check the status of the order. They do not answer any of my phone calls or my voicemails. I finally decide to test them and I block my number and try to call them. THEY ANSWER! Suckers. I then have an extremely heated argument with the receptionist, Johanna, who tells me that they have not ordered the parts and were under the impression I wasn't moving forward with the repair. I'm about in tears now as it's been over a month without a working toilet. She was extremely unprofessional and lacked empathy for the complete negligence their company has displayed. She informs me they will order the parts. I call back (blocked number so they answer on the first attempt) after the holiday and still the parts haven't been ordered. Finally it sinks in I want a working toilet, novel idea I know, and order the parts but have them delivered to my house. This takes another week and a half. Needless to say, it took almost 7 weeks of back and forth with this shithole company to finally have a working toilet (true test will be how long it works before needing to be repaired again). This company came to install a water heater on 1/26/17 and charged us $190.00 for a supposed modification to install a new water heater. The modification was actually a 18 inch piece of flexible gas line and a 44 inch piece of PVC tubing that was screwed into the pressure release valve. We called the company about this "modification " and was told "that sounded about right". Plus they charged us $75.00 to take away the old water heater. We told them we would dispose of it on our own. The service person said it was company policy to take away the old one and can not leave it with us. Then said to us "do you want me to do the job or not". We had to have the new water heater installed. So we had them do the job. This company over charges for work that they know needs to be done. To top it off, the service person dated my paperwork 2016. I called about this also and was told "it's ok, my work order was dated 1/25/17. I asked for a new invoice with the correct date and was told they don't do that and there would not be any problem with the warranty. Sounds shady to me. We had an issue with the outside hose bib at our home. We called our home warranty company and set up for a plumber to come assess the situation. They sent Grade A Plumbing. There was some damage related to a previous owner not disconnecting the hose from the bib at the beginning of winter and so there was damage from freezing. Luke was our technician. He was very polite and professional. He fixed the damage as best he could, but ultimately recommended replacement which would cost 225. While he was in our basement, he also pointed out a few other things and recommended some solutions which was very helpful. Overall, I felt very comfortable with the interaction and how professional Luke was. I would use Grade A Plumbing in the future. read more

I would give a 0 star if I could. Grade A Plumbing were sent with me through my American Home Shield to replace a water heater. The techs that came out to the house were wonderful. The water heater was covered and some part that goes on top of the water heater was not covered. Grade A charged us $210 for a part that they admitted would be purchased from Home Depot for $60. We were not allowed to buy it ourselves. Then they bought a water heater that didn't fit the pan that we already had and was not damaged. They charged us a $125 for a $21 pan from Home Depot. The lady that we spoke through from customer service was rude. She got loud with me over the phone (twice on 2 different days) after waiting on hold for over 30 minutes and over 2 hours for her to return my phone call. Then she hung up on me. I had been without hot water for days, which is why I went ahead and had the work done. I will NEVER have any work done from them again. read more

My warranty company (American Home Shield) sent Grade A Plumbing to my house to fix a drain line leak in my 2nd floor bathroom. After they accessed the problem they told me that they would have to rip up my ceramic tile bathroom floor to get to the leak and that AHS does not cover the cost for the demolition. The technician told me that they could do the demo for an additional $700 and that when they were finished the floor would be "ready for tile". I agreed to their terms and let them proceed with the work. The day they started the work (October 6th, 2017), they were 5 hours late and never called to let us know they were running behind. We called them several times to see what they delay was and they told us their guys were picking up supplies from Home Depot. I am not sure if they went to a Home Depot in Ohio but my job was in a suburb of Philadelphia. When I got to the house that afternoon, I found out that didn't turn off the water before starting their work and flooded out my kitchen. When I checked the bathroom, I saw that they cut a trench in my bathroom floor to fix the problem and that they were only going to fill in that section with concrete. When I asked how I would replace my tile, since they cut a trench through it, they told me that's how they were going to leave it. After expressing my displeasure for several minutes and reminding them that they told me that it would be "ready for tile" they agreed to demo the entire floor and prepare it to be re-tiled. They apparently has no idea what they were doing because the floor was not fully demolished and the concrete work looked like a child had done it. They left me no room to lay new tile (it's as high as the threshold) and its as rougher than an old sidewalk. After they left for the night, we found that the leak was not fixed and that we had to put another work order in with AHS for them to come back out. When they came back out, they told me that they would have to remove some of my kitchen cabinets and cut some drywall to get to the problem. Unfortunately for me, they ripped out the cabinets instead of unscrewing them and removing them so we could re-hang them, When I spoke to the owner Adam about this he told me that "we would figure things out with the cabinets when they finished the plumbing work". In addition to the cabinet and drywall removal in the kitchen, they had to cut an access hole in my living room ceiling and two holes in a bedroom wall on the 2nd floor adjacent to the bathroom. The hole in the living room ceiling was cut ok but they used a hammer to knock the 2 holes in the bedroom walls. After speaking to Adam again about all of the holes in the walls he told me that AHS would be sending someone out to patch them up. Today is November 28th and we still have holes all over the house, my cabinets are in pieces in the dining room and my bathroom floor is still a mess. I have been trying to get a hold of Adam at Grade A Plumbing for more than a month now and when I finally got through to someone last week (I had to call from a different phone number) they left me on hold for 10 minutes before I hung up. I called several more times over the last 6 days with no answer. When I called today using *67 a woman answered........after I told her who I was and that I was looking for Adam she told me that he had nothing to talk to me about and hung up on me. AHS has done nothing to help us as they told us that they "Do not guarantee their sub-contractors work" and they also told us that Grade A Plumbing never called them to let them know that the holes in our walls needed to be patched. Needless to say, my wife and I are extremely unhappy with Grade A Plumbing as the work they performed was the worst work I have ever seen by a contractor and they should be embarrassed to have left someone's home in that condition. I wish I could link pictures to this review to show you the damage done to my house. We will also be cancelling our home warranty with AHS and looking for a new company. Echoing many of the previous reviews. The technician who came to service our hot water heater was very good - early to the appointment, knew his stuff, answered all our questions. He left saying that the part would be ordered that day. Fast forward three days and was told that the part was in and scheduled the next available service (after leaving a glowing review of the technician that I was told would be passed to him). Took the day off of work to be there...and nobody shows. I called to ask why and was told that no part was ordered until the day before (5 days AFTER the initial visit and a day after I was told it was already there) and that there was no record of my service appointment. There was zero interest in getting to the bottom of what could have happened, not even a token customer service fake apology for the mixup. No insight into when the part would be in or what next steps would be. Unfortunately I didn't make note of who confirmed my appointment so I could reference it later but the fact remains - I was promised a service on a specific day / time, confirmed verbally twice over the phone, took a day off of work to be here, and was shafted when attempting to get to the bottom of the issue. Look elsewhere, as I have already suggested to my warranty company and my home insurer. read more

THE worst experience! No 'one of'. Indeed they guys are crooks! I wish I had read all these reviews before hand. My water heater was leaking and I placed an order via AHS where I purchased insurance. They assigned to Grade A Plumbing and the next day two guys came. One guy named Roy told me it is rustic so will need to be replaced, which will be covered by insurance. But there are two items under new code cannot be covered and the total charge will be around $450 or so. I said yes.Then I was asked to call their office to pay. A guy probably named Joe picked up the phone and told me I will be charged $450 plus $75 service fee, AND, if I pay by credit card, there will be 3.5% more charge on top of all these because the credit card company charges them! AND they don't accept personal check. All these are new to me. I was pissed off so I called to stop their work. What really got me mad was that these guys left not only left the hot water pipe cut and capped, but also let the water fill back in to the upper part of the cut pipe so when I found a new technician to connect back the hot water pipe, it was extremely difficult. And the worst part is, the water heater was still on. Had I have not called another technician to take a look, no one would have knew this and the heater could explode! My home warranty called them out to see why my sewer line was clogged on Monday. The plumber came out and unclogged my sewer line ,but destroyed my vent box because he claimed he could not get access to the sewer. I understood he had to get access but he should have told us that it would cost us 100's of dollars to replace the vent box since someone would have to cut through the concrete to replace it. He told us to just take a plug to fill in the hole....smh He also did not fix all the toilets we had issues with. Word of advice. Do not ever use this company. American Homeshield sent this company to my house because I had an issue with my hot water heater. For starters, they were late. The heater started having issues within minutes after the technician left. I tried calling him but he did not answer. They came back out several days later (late again). This technician was different. He kept checking my water pressure. Then told me my water pressure was too high and I would have to pay them 500 dollars to fix and they will not repair my water heater until I pay them the 500 dollars for the "water pressure" issue. Immediately, I knew this was a scam. I called another plumber and got a second opinion, turns out my water pressure had nothing to do with the part that had to be replaced. I explained this to my warranty company and they stood by Grade A's opinion (I wll be cancelling my contract with them next) . On top of that I asked Grade A plumbing for a quote on a brand new water heater. The first technician told me 1100 dollars, the 2nd Technician told me 1200 for the water heater and an additional 240 dollars for ("pipe modifications") He also kept trying to sell me some bull sh## warranty for 150 dollars. This guy was throwing all types of prices at me. They were trying to force me to pay them 500 dollars out of pocket for something that had nothing to do with my repairs. The plumber who gave me a second opinion gave me a quote for a new water heater in the amount of 975 dollars including all parts and labor!. I truly am agitated and angry that these guys would try to rip me off. It's been weeks and I am finally getting the issue resolved by just getting a new water heater (on my own, no help from the warranty company). If American Homeshield or whatever warranty company tries to send these clowns out to your house for a repair call the warranty company and ask for someone else. I was assigned this plumber through my home warranty company, when I needed a hot water heater replacement. I received the company's contact information and called them to schedule service. You are calling their main office in PA, and deal mostly with them when scheduling. If there is anything positive to say about this company, it's that their office staff (schedulers/receptionists/etc) are very nice and professional. A service call was scheduled I stayed home to meet the service reps on the day the evaluation was scheduled. A man met me in the garage and bent over to only feel the bottom of the water heater. His diagnosis: "Yep, you need a new one". 5 minutes later they were gone. Paperwork was submitted to the home warranty company for replacement and we scheduled a date for the work. We were given a window of time that they would show up (I believe it was between 1 and 5pm). A few minutes before 5, I received a phone call from Matt, who explained that he and his partner were running behind and they were headed our way, but it would definitely be after 5 when they arrived. I appreciated the communication, but we had taken off of work to meet them and finding out less than 10 minutes before the deadline wasn't exactly a good use of our time. At any rate, they did show up between 630pm-7pm to start the installation of the new water heater. For that, I am thankful, because the work didn't need to be rescheduled. They finished well after 8pm, paperwork was signed and they left. The next day (when it was daylight), it was noticed that the torch that was used to weld the pipes had accidentally been held against my garage door casing/threshold and was burnt. The hot water heater was also significantly dented during installation. I submitted a complaint to the warranty company, and was informed that they wouldn't cover the cost of repairs for the burns. I next contacted the main office in PA and was told a message would be sent to the service manager (Matt) who was on the job the night prior. Hours pass and I don't hear from him. I call back and another message is left. More hours pass. Nothing. Finally, just a few minutes before 5pm, I get a call from Matt. I text pictures of the burns to him. His response, "I just don't see how we did this." Not an Im sorry. Not an ounce of remorse or customer service. Instead...I get a "I just don't see how we did this". He passes the photos on to the company's owner, Adam and then calls me back to say that he was instructed by Adam for us to obtain a quote for repairs, "and if it doesn't cost like anything crazy, they'll take care of it". Well, no. That's not how this works. So I contact a garage door guy who does doors on the side. He doesn't have a storefront or a website. He does doors on the SIDE. When they receive his quote for labor, they question EVERYTHING. The email of the garage door guy. Why doesn't he have a business address? Why doesn't he have a website? After WEEKS of going back and forth with this company, I finally contact a local vinyl company with a business address and website. I speak to Grade A's owner and tell him a new quote will be coming soon. I advise him that the next quote will most likely be considerably more, since the 2nd company has an "internet presence"....apparently that's a big deal to them and shows that a business is legitimate. Immediately during this call, I'm offered a release of liability contract and that the check for the original quoted work be mailed directly to me. SIX WEEKS it took to get this. It seems like the thought of paying MORE helped move them along. SIX WEEKS of leaving messages with the NC Sales and Customer Service manager Matt or the main office in PA with no returned calls. SIX WEEKS of waiting for my door to be repaired from water heater work. Finally, I received payment for the repairs and all is right with the world. For anyone's reference....the website for this company in NC is to a residence. Matt works from home for a company based out of PA. Similar to my garage door guy who didn't have an internet presence. My rating is actually no stars but I have to select at least 1 star in order to post this review. Grade A Plumbing performed plumbing work on my bathtub in August 2018. The hardware the plumber installed did not match the existing hardware. When I brought the issue to his attention, he acknowledged that was something he should have checked prior to coming. He searched for the appropriate hardware and affirmed he would be back to switch it out once the product was received. Today is December 18, 2018 and the erroneous hardware is still in my bathtub! I contacted Grade A Plumbing several times to have this issue rectified. I've been told the plumber will follow up with me. No follow up. I've been told to send an email with pictures of the bathtub. I sent the email. No response. I've been told a manager would call me. No call. The last contact I initiated ended in the person who answered the phone hanging up on me. I have dealt with numerous service providers but have never experienced an entity as unprofessional, unethical and incompetent as Grade A Plumbing. read more

Grade A was sent to my home in June 2016, through my home warranty company, for a dripping faucet in my bathroom. The faucet handle was in one piece when Ken, their employee came to my home. Now I have a broken faucet handle and was told to use the hot water by turning the handle stem. Ken had a hard time with the screw in the handle so he pried it off and broke it now they refuse to fix it. American shield sent Grade A out to fix a stoppage in our laundry room. The tech Randy came, went into the bathroom and snaked out the bathroom sink for over an hour. He put some kind of chemical down the sink. He said he could not help with the block we would have to go back to American Shield. After he left my husband went into the bathroom and the sink was leaking. He went to wipe it up and the chemical burned his fingers. He saw little holes now in pipe that were not there before. I called American Home Shield, they sent another company out to fix the stoppage the next day he was very good. He went into the laundry room cleared my stoppage. My bathroom sink is still leaking due to the Grade A . I have been on the phone with American Shield almost everyday trying to get this resolved. I have sent 4 emails between Randy's email and also American Shield. Finally today I called Grade A plumbing spoke to Lauren today and she said they were not coming back out and they will not take responsibility for this. Do not use this company. I even called back to get an address to send a letter to them and was told we do not give the address out. What company does not give an address out ? I asked for an email address then, and they hung up on me. That is not very good customer service. I should have just looked up the address on line. read more

Oh well, we'll order another one and re-schedule you for Monday. 10th day without hot water? Oh well. The dispatcher was rude - didn't want to hear about the details of the job. The "technician" (Larry) showed up late. Multiple body piercings. Tracked mud all over the house. He failed to complete the job - just offered a quick fix. Stay far away from this company! read more

I used Grade A pluming through my Home Warranty company American Home Shield, who I give a 0 star rating for this particular service call.I had Grade A on a few occasions, they installed a water heater and and back-up for my sump pump. The work was very good and I was completely satisfied. However, I recently had them out to investigate a problem (we thought it had something to do with the sump pump). The plumber came out and my husband showed him the sump pump, engaged the pump, but didn't investigate any further,( ie by taking the cover off and looking more closely at the pump). He then checked all the toilets and found a very slow leak which he repaired. He also recommended that we have our meter checked. Which we did. (its never the meter). Bottom line, the sump pump was bad and they had to come back and replace the pump. My problem is that I had to pay 2 service fees, when both issues should have been addressed that day. I also called the office several times on the first day after he left and got no response or a call back to my messages. I also did not receive a written bill until I requested it (via email) and there was no description of the new pump installation. (just a 1/2 hp pump as installed). March 2018 read more

Worst plumbing company I ever dealt with-no communication-no show and cannot even seem to get the plumbing parts they need. They do not respond to you unless you write a review about them and then they respond very quickly to your comment with lies. You will regret ever contacting this company and I do not know how they even stay in business. read more
