Well stocked campstore, lots of games and things for kids to do outdoors or borrow a game from the desk for your campsite, plenty of safe space for kids to ride bikes and explore. Nice shower house. This campground is probably great for a self-contained camper that only needs hookups. People are…read morefriendly. Restooms are clean. Most sites are large, flat, and surrounded by trees. Restroom facilities are sparce. There are two restroom facilities and one of them has two shower stalls per gender for the entire campground. Tent sites are far from all facilities. I wonder why so many campgrounds, including this one, puts Class A, long-term campsites near the restrooms and leaves the rest of us, who need restrooms, to struggle with the long walk.

We found White Birches, it was still open to our surprise. The spot we were at was pretty close to the other RV's but we weren't complaining. All the fall leaves and the river were breathtaking! I definitely recommend this campground. The hook up were great and we were able to fill our propane tank as well.

We got together here with most of our grown kids and their families this year. There are sites ranging from basic tent sites up to spaces for very large RVs, as well as cabins that go from "4 walls" rustic to a few that are almost a hotel room with a full bathroom, shower, air conditioning, and kitchenette. There is a playground for the young kids, access to a nice field in the back, kayaking, picnic and fishing areas along the river. There's railroad tracks that run through the back of the campground and a train often goes through at night. It's close and very loud and impressive, and while it may bother some people we looked forward to it coming through. The cabins we visited were very clean and well maintained as were all the bathrooms and the showers. The little campground store seemed to have everything you are likely to forget when you leave home. The real highlight of this place is the owners, who are some of the nicest people you can come across. They are pleasant and welcoming and went to great lengths to make our visits enjoyable. If you're looking for a deep wilderness-like experience this is probably not the place for you, but it doesn't pretend to be that. It's a really nice family friendly spot to spend some time, with plenty of stuff to keep the kids entertained.

Both visits, I camped out in a tent the night before hiking in Grafton Notch - $28 for a tent site pretty close to the trailhead? Not bad! The $28 includes free mini golf, use of their pool, and a rustic camping experience. Wins: - The owners are super friendly. Very genuine people. They have helped me last-minute book both times and are patient and great. - They recently added a little dining area to their general store, which is great! When I camped here a few weeks ago, I ordered their mozzarella sticks, a beer, and a pizza (what can I say, I was carbo-loading) and it was super affordable. - Their store has beer. Lots of it. And donuts. So, essentially all you need before hiking a four thousander. - Their pool is amazing. Though I was SO SAD to be informed that we arrived literally the day it closed for the season. I wish that had been communicated better. - Fire pits - they give guests the freedom to have fun and safe fires - love this. - Flushing toilets/running water to brush teeth/wash hands. This is a luxury for us camping regulars! - Quiet, peaceful, beautiful Maine. Ehs: - The campsites are pretty close together - there's very little privacy in terms of trees separating the sites. We were lucky to go near the end of the season and be essentially alone and isolated in our spot. - I wish the general store was open just a teeny bit later! This lazya** needs her water bottles and beer after 8pm usually, especially after driving out to the site all evening. Their breakfast sandwiches are affordable and a delicious meal for before a hike - be sure to grab one. This is a real Maine experience. It's so fun to watch the sun set over the mountain you're going to be summiting the next day, and Stony Brook gives you that view!

We rented the…read moreBalsam Fir cabin which is located right next to First Connecticut Lake (see picture) and were not disappointed. The view was amazing. The cabin was very clean with a spacious kitchen and living room with cable TV. There were two bedrooms, one with queen size mattress and the other with two full size beds. There was also an extra full bed in the living room. The bathroom was small but functional. The cabins come with pots, pans, mugs, plates, bowls, utensils, coffee machine, microwave and fridge . Just be sure to bring your own salt, pepper, and other condiments. On Saturday we spent the whole day outside riding ATVS and water skiing. Then grabbed dinner at the Rainbow Grill on Beach Rd. It was the best food we have had in a long time. We will definitely be back Ramblewood Cabins next year and hopefully spend more than just a few days.

My wife and I stayed at this campground for our first trip to the White Mountains. We were very…read moreimpressed with the different options for each campsite, we chose one closer to the river. It is very easy to get to and is right off the Kancamagus Highway. Full disclaimer: our stay was late June, right before Memorial Day so it we had the place to ourselves. We chose campsite #10, it had plenty of space for our vehicle and made it very easy for load in/out. I believe it was $22/night (bring cash or check for the honor system envelope drop by the entrance of the campground).The campsite is close to the river but not close enough to hear it. However, there was a little trail from our campsite to the water and it took only a minute to get there. If you want a campsite really close to the Swift River, you'll need to get a campsite #21-24. Our campsite had a picnic table and a large fire ring with a grill grate that will lower over the fire. There were even some large tree stumps left there for seating. We didn't have anyone camping around us, but I'd imagine each campsite has a good amount of privacy and space during peak season. Id recommend buying firewood before you arrive at Passaconoway. The year-round campground host sells firewood (which is very convenient) but you can get double your money's worth if you buy them from little wood stands on the side of the road. If you're passing through Lincoln (via 93 exit on Kancamagus) you will see some self serve wood piles by some gas stations.

Passaconnaway is a great (relatively) primitive campground right off the Kanc. It's got drinking…read morewater and outhouses, but no showers, sinks, or RV hookups. It has a couple of nicely secluded spots and tends to stay pretty quiet (in part because of the lack of amenities). There's a series of trailheads from the lot just across the street that acess some beautiful hikes, and since it's close to the center of the Kanc you're pretty close to whatever else you want to go see in that neck of the woods. Bring cash because it's an "iron ranger" system (currently $20 per night for one car) and the firewood there is $6 a bundle.

The plots allowed for privacy and space, which made relaxation easily achievable. We were really late arriving and the staff was kind and understanding.
