I love this place!! Owners are friendly and very helpful. it is well maintained and rules are enforced for everyone's pleasure and safety. The view is amazing and so relaxing!! Loved watching the campers children having fun at the play area and riding bikes...was nice to see parents getting their kids out in the fresh air and safe environment! it is a great place to get away from technology and back to nature! Wifi is not what I go there for, so not getting connected isn't a big issue, it is a nice way to connect with mother nature! Thank you Bob and Janet!

We got together here with most of our grown kids and their families this year. There are sites ranging from basic tent sites up to spaces for very large RVs, as well as cabins that go from "4 walls" rustic to a few that are almost a hotel room with a full bathroom, shower, air conditioning, and kitchenette. There is a playground for the young kids, access to a nice field in the back, kayaking, picnic and fishing areas along the river. There's railroad tracks that run through the back of the campground and a train often goes through at night. It's close and very loud and impressive, and while it may bother some people we looked forward to it coming through. The cabins we visited were very clean and well maintained as were all the bathrooms and the showers. The little campground store seemed to have everything you are likely to forget when you leave home. The real highlight of this place is the owners, who are some of the nicest people you can come across. They are pleasant and welcoming and went to great lengths to make our visits enjoyable. If you're looking for a deep wilderness-like experience this is probably not the place for you, but it doesn't pretend to be that. It's a really nice family friendly spot to spend some time, with plenty of stuff to keep the kids entertained.

Every morning we'd wake up to them doing their rounds and maintaining the sites. They were all very kind to us and our dog. Overall the KOA is impressive. Lovely tent camping sites, a beautiful well maintained field for kids to play and clean facilities all around. When it comes to our site, we were disappointed. We were in site 18 which when parking to give ourselves a place to hangout next to the fire pit put us basically right on top of our neighbor. (Check out the pictures - the only view we had from our window was their camper) Our hangout spot near the fire pit was right next to our other neighbors so it basically felt like we were all hanging out together. The worst part for us was the highway right through the trees is highly trafficked at all hours of the day and night. Yes we heard tractor trailers at 3 am. It was so loud from traffic at times we couldn't hear each other speaking. This area of the KOA made us feel like we were at a rest stop on the side of the highway instead of in the beautiful wilderness camping. We would certainly return but without a doubt would need to upgrade to the much more beautiful spacious sites in the back. If you plan to camp in an RV spot we recommend you do the same!

We rented one of the larger campers and it worked out great for us. They have a small general store where you check-in that has hot coffee, icees, different drinks and alchoholic drinks and some swag to buy. They have lots of activities for kids to do in the late afternoon/early evening, a nice playground, volley ball nets, basketball court, arcade and hay rides. The place felt very safe and all of the kids were riding their bikes and scooters all around the camp area and laughing and playing together. Our particular camper was OK. I would not call it a luxury unless you are comparing it to an actual tent. The reason being that the AC did not work - it barely cooled off the small space and did not reach to the upper bedroom and the beds were like sleeping on plywood. I did speak to the desk about the beds and was told they hadn't gotten into that particular unit yet to add in mattress toppers. Having the outdoor kitchen area was great and the small fridge is perfect to store any sodas or beverages you bring that don't need to take up room in the inside small fridge. The major complaint about the camper is that they had scented plugins in every single outlet and even some free standing ones all over the place - it made the fake smell unbearable for the first day. While we were there it was water weekend and we were able to go to Santa's Village one night with just the others from the campground which was so much fun! We will definitely be back.

The employees in the store were nice and helpful. No issues the first time. 4.5 stars. Our second time was in 2024. One pool was out of service due to recent flooding so the other pool was packed all the time. The store employees were again nice and helpful. Our site's septic was uphill making emptying near impossible. There was an odor in the area. Almost like a wet stale smell. We also had a mouse or mice running around our site. Around 8pm the employees were driving these motorized golf cart. There were three of them, all appeared to be doing laps for no apparent reason. The cart being driven but the female employee was operated in a safe slow manner. The other two, operated by two younger males, were being driven a lot faster. Felt like they racing each other. One would drive down the road weaving back and forth. I think he was trying to miss the uneven ruts in the road but slowing down would have achieved the same thing. The slamming of the dumpster lids after 8pm by the employees was annoying. Everyone was sitting around their fires and the slamming noise was just uncalled for. Probably will try a different place next year.

It is very easy to get to and is right off the Kancamagus Highway. Full disclaimer: our stay was late June, right before Memorial Day so it we had the place to ourselves. We chose campsite #10, it had plenty of space for our vehicle and made it very easy for load in/out. I believe it was $22/night (bring cash or check for the honor system envelope drop by the entrance of the campground). The campsite is close to the river but not close enough to hear it. However, there was a little trail from our campsite to the water and it took only a minute to get there. If you want a campsite really close to the Swift River, you'll need to get a campsite #21-24. Our campsite had a picnic table and a large fire ring with a grill grate that will lower over the fire. There were even some large tree stumps left there for seating. We didn't have anyone camping around us, but I'd imagine each campsite has a good amount of privacy and space during peak season. Id recommend buying firewood before you arrive at Passaconoway. The year-round campground host sells firewood (which is very convenient) but you can get double your money's worth if you buy them from little wood stands on the side of the road. If you're passing through Lincoln (via 93 exit on Kancamagus) you will see some self serve wood piles by some gas stations.

It has a couple of nicely secluded spots and tends to stay pretty quiet (in part because of the lack of amenities). There's a series of trailheads from the lot just across the street that acess some beautiful hikes, and since it's close to the center of the Kanc you're pretty close to whatever else you want to go see in that neck of the woods. Bring cash because it's an "iron ranger" system (currently $20 per night for one car) and the firewood there is $6 a bundle.

This year I was convinced to join another couple families for their yearly trip to On the Saco Campground and I'm glad I did. It's not a huge place, but it's very well kept and VERY clean. No smelly outhouses or grimy bathrooms, both were maybe a little rustic but in good working order and again, very clean. My site was tree lined giving plenty of privacy, nicely mowed and had a fire ring. I don't know if they employ some kind of mosquito management but for a wooded site about 80ft from water, I didn't get one bite over my 3 night stay. There's a little store with pretty much any essential you may have forgotten for sale, small game room, washer/dryer, and dishwashing area. You can rent tubes and canoes, (I did both) and the staff is super friendly and helpful, (especially when we got caught in the rain and they came to pick us up earlier and at a different location than intended). They had some kind of activity everyday, I saw face painting one afternoon by the office, there was a glow stick parade one night, corn-hole tournament the next, and a movie night the third. A lot of Saco campground are shitshows, (I'm talking about you Fiddlehead!) full of wasted college kids, this place IS NOT THAT. If that's what you want, keep moving. However, if you're looking for a clean, friendly place that is definitely family friendly and a more peaceful but still fun experience I'd recommend On the Saco Family Campground for sure.

First off, we have been patronizing this campground several…read moretimes a year since the new owners (John and Lisa) took it over a few years ago and made countless upgrades and additions to make this campground one of the best in NH. We stayed here for our usual (3) nights in late August 2023 at our usual (brook front) site (no I won't say the site number... its ours LOL) with my wifey and our "son" (dog). I am constantly amazed how dog friendly this place is. Most notably the welcome he receives upon check-in and the obvious love of animals from the staff. Most notable, this past trip a male employee (maintenance) I believe (sorry I don't recall your name) went above and beyond by showing our dog so much love, making it a point to stop and say hello to him in passing and even bring him his own bag of dog treats on our last night (which he devoured before we got home). The campground has (3) amazing dog (ambassadors) which make the stay even more enjoyable. First there is Lacey, a quiet yet reserved doggo with an obvious sense of class and sophistication. Then there is Tyson and energetic lab who will be your best friend if he sees you with a ball. Last but not least there is Rocky the rottweiler who has been the "framed" by some bad reviews as intimidating (LOOOL) he is an amazing, well trained, kind, asset to this campground and it is your loss if you find him to "Intimidating" to say hello to as he is passing by sitting shotgun on the chrome wheeled chariot (golfcart) that he frequently "patrols" the campground in. Most notable in some negative reviews this campground has rules! and has security! for a reason! The rules are simple (DRIVE 5 MPH!) It's common sense! You wouldn't speed through a school zone so why a campground with countless kids and animals! And yes, if you speed you may get told to "slow down" please don't take offense to this like your being personally attacked. It's the employees and owners taking a stand to ensure their guests are safe! The second rule is "Quiet ours are 10pm to 8am". If you are making excessive noise during this time, yes, you most likely will be spoken to by security. Again, don't take offense to this "outrageous" rule. This campground is surrounded by (2) beautiful brooks and the last thing that needs to be heard is excessive noise in such a great location. We can honestly say in the several years we have been coming here we have never had a noise issue. However, if you do have an issue there is a convenient phone number you can text where your issue will be addressed promptly. Everyone here is either guests or friends which shows by the extent the owners (John and Lisa) go to ensure you are having a great time. The few negative reviews I have seen are mostly because you didn't give them a chance to go the extra mile for you, or were just plain rude or entitled. We have personally seen the owners and staff go the extra mile multiple times! As far as the campground itself its situated in the heart of the white mountains close to many major attractions (Clarks Trading Post, Kancamagus Highway, Storyland, Santas Village, Flume Gorge, Polar Caves, Lost River Gorge) to name a few. This campground is wooded! Yes, there are no wide open spaces it's a wooded campground in the heart of NH and there are trees, winding roads and each site is unique. The owners made it simple to plan your visit by having posted photos of many sites online as well as provide information while booking explaining what the features are to each site and what type of equipment it can accommodate. There are rustic (primitive) sites, full hookups (water, elec, sewer) as well as gorgeous "Glamping" cabins and more rustic simple wooded cabins! The (3) restroom/bathhouses are always clean and welcoming. The onsite laundry room served us well after we were ill prepared during a NH summer downpour! During the day (especially weekends) there are activities such as games (Human bumper ball!!!) as well as "Fairy walks!" Ice cream socials, arts and crafts and our personal favorite the "dance parties!" featuring the fairy lights (see attached photos) during the evening the area around the bridge is lit up by countless laser lights which reflect off the trees to create a truly unique experience. Each time we arrive our site has been immaculate and ready for us which is another kudos to the amazing staff. After writing this review, I feel like I have not touched the surface of topics I could talk about regarding this campground. We will continue to patronize this campground and consider it "our campground" and our "home away from home!". 10.5 out of 5 stars! -Lavoie family!

The bathrooms are old and dirty, with walls and doors that clearly need to be scrubbed of built-up grime and feces. The showers are quarter-operated, but unreliable and some without temperature control. The amenities listed online are also misleading. The "playground" is really just a small baby jungle gym, and the area that should be a playground is a complete waste of space. Across the street, they have a so-called swimming beach but it is nothing more than a mosquito-filled pond with a sunken paddle boat. The train is nice and freshly painted, but the swing set is in terrible shape and really needs to be removed before someone gets hurt. The water wheel advertised on the website doesn't work and doesn't look like it has in quite some time. On top of that, there's no WiFi service. With some updates and proper upkeep, this place could be wonderful--but as it stands, it's disappointing compared to what's advertised.
