We had an outstanding experience with Graham Hallissey Construction (GHC) and could not recommend Graham and his team more highly. Following the Eaton and Palisades fires, we decided to strengthen our home's defenses against wildfire by replacing all of our existing vents with ember-resistant Vulcan Vents. As we knew we were vulnerable to windblown embers entering our home through existing openings -- including foundation, crawlspace, gable, and eave vents -- upgrading them felt like an especially important part of our home-hardening efforts. I obtained quotes from three contractors and felt most comfortable with GHC - and most confident in their ability to deliver. They absolutely did. In addition to installing Vulcan Vents throughout our home, GHC replaced the 30-40 year old door between our laundry room and garage with a new steel door. The workmanship was exceptional from start to finish. Graham and his crew are skilled, meticulous, and clearly take great pride in their work. They were courteous, conscientious, and dependable: they arrived when promised, worked diligently throughout the day, treated our home with care, and left the work site clean and orderly every evening. Communication was excellent throughout the entire process. Graham kept us informed, patiently answered our questions, clearly explained the work, and was always approachable and responsive. He is honest, trustworthy, and true to his word - everything from the initial estimate through final completion was handled professionally and thoughtfully. Most importantly, Graham genuinely cared about the finished result and wanted to be certain that we were completely satisfied. His attention to detail was remarkable, and he promptly addressed even the smallest items. He and his team went above and beyond, and we had no issues whatsoever. We needed to have our house painted inside and out and I found the best painters in the area which is Precision Painting. I told the manager Brittany that our golf course deck and stairs were in shambles due to wood rot and needed to be replaced before their painters arrived. This included all new porcelain tile floors, custom cabinetry, added and updated electrical, 2 completely new bathrooms, paint throughout, a newly-constructed fireplace, 2 new sliding glass doors, skylights, windows, and more. How many people can say they MISS their construction crew when they've finished? I can! All four of Graham's regular crew, himself included, are the most pleasant guys to work with! As we worked our way through the project, we created the plans together, Graham and his crew providing just the right amount of advice and guidance. They were always on time, always happy to get to work, and communicated with me throughout the day as to what they were doing. Three of us, plus a dog and a cat, were living here during the entire project, and they could not have been more considerate. We worked together to manage the logistics, and they always gave me plenty of warning when a particular space was going to be unavailable. Their work ethic is like none I have ever seen, and the quality of their work is beyond compare! All of them are very detail-oriented, and they take a lot of pride--and joy--in their work. They cared as much about the project as I did. They were so patient with my questions and requests and did everything they could to make me feel confident and happy. Probably the most important thing is their level of integrity--I had absolute trust in them to do the job to perfection and to be fair with me. What more could you ask? I really can't say enough great things about Graham and his crew. When I called Graham, I was fully expecting to have to re-side my entire house, as I was told that by two other contractors. Graham showed up and quickly determined that I wouldn't need to re-side the entire house and that I would be fine just to repair the damaged portions. We brought Graham and Robert Hallissey in to complete a patio cabana that was a nightmare from the time it was designed by our engineering company. There were other contractors that gave us bids that were in range of the bid from Hallissey Construction, so cost was not the deciding factor. Graham was the only contractor that recognized issues with the approved design plans, from materials that were meant for indoor construction to relocating the tongue and groove panels under the roof in order to hide the nails, bolts, and metal connections. Graham sent email invoices for all materials and costs in a very timely manner. He also provided detailed explanations for any costs that were not included in the initial bid prior to purchasing any new materials. Not only did Graham do everything he could to introduce the appropriate materials while keeping costs down, he also went to the county with us on more than one occasion to explain the material issues with the approved plans and help get the new materials approved. Graham is very busy and he won't get to you every day because of that. If he is unable to be on the job every day, he stops by each day before work begins or ensures that Robert is available to oversee construction. His team is very professional and courteous. Our cabana was completed in a very timely manner and we are more than satisfied with an esthetically pleasing cabana that would otherwise have looked like a warehouse (or worse). Graham Hallissey is not only a great contractor - he's an amazing human being! I was referred to Graham by Precision Painting (a fantastic painting company - see my earlier review). I wanted to have some doors removed and new ones installed before painting the house. I also had a few other things that needed work around the house. Graham was able to do it quickly and at a great price. I've since needed Graham to come back for a couple other small jobs and he's been there for me every time I needed him. He's very particular about his work and pays close attention to the details. He watched over his crew to make sure that the job was done right and that the clean up was thorough as well. If you're like me, you get a bit nervous when you have to go to Yelp and cold call someone who you've never used fearing that things might go horribly wrong. Take my word for it, this guy will work hard to do the job right. He's one of the friendliest people you'll meet in LA and you'll learn pretty quickly that he has your best interest at heart. His brother, Robert, works with him and is a master when it comes to masonry work. He repaired my broken stucco wall in three hours. It looks as good as new!!
