This place doesn't look like much from the outside but it's surprisingly nice on the inside! There's not too many choices for food in this stretch of road (near Sand Dunes National Park) but thankfully this spot was a good option! We had a burger, a brisket salad, some fries, and a milkshake. Burger was alright, hefty size and decent flavor, but nothing that'll blow you away. Brisket salad was pretty yummy and all the veggies were very fresh and good quality! Fries were very crispy, but to the point of being overdone. That milkshake though.... Whoa. So good! Pretty sure they put an actual pie in it and blended it up. Super thick and delicious with nice chunks of fruit and pie crust mixed in! Biggest downside was that our food took 20-25ish minutes to come out, but still a nice find in a rather empty spot of this part of Colorado with a focus on local produce :) read more

Headed to Joyful Journey and stopped for lunch after reading reviews. Stop! Don't judge a book by its cover. Friendly staff and great food ! I had the Waygu burger medium and it was perfect. Fresh bun and onion rings were delicious. We also had the chicken Flauntas that were the special and they were delicious as well ! They were out of pie today or we would have had a piece. This was the perfect cozy place to stop for a hot meal after we visited the Sand Dunes! The ladies running it were absolutely delightful and such a breath of fresh air. I haven't been to every place in the SLV yet but I've been to most and this is my number 1! I try to come here a couple times each week and I'm never disappointed. Daily specials are always amazing. The fried fish was by far the best I've ever had anywhere! If you're going to Sand Dunes or down hwy 17 definitely stop for at least a loaf of fresh bread or milkshake or old fashioned soda. The best! If you're not around then get around here and support an American treasure and enjoy what good food actually tastes like! read more

A difficult review - mainly due to the location - it is really out in the middle of nowhere, so expectations should be lowered a bit by that - but so many 5 star reviews on yelp that I guess I was expecting better. Coffee seems to be serve yourself? Not sure if is supposed to be or not - but that was the only way to get more. I had a chicken fried steak and it was OK. Nothing special. My wife had the Relleno breakfast and it was pretty bad. Seemed overcooked - likely in the microwave. Honestly, I wish we had just had some pie. They looked incredible. Got the fried mushrooms (big and legit, not greasy), rib special (moist&yummy), raspberry and rhubarb pie with homemade vanilla ice cream. A must stop between denver and Santa Fe! read more

Upon seeing a shabby looking exterior in a small town, you might be tempted to continue driving up the highway. You'd be missing out. The inside is well kept and the decor adds to the charm of the place. As they like to keep saying, everything is made from scratch, though they don't milk the cow. The ingredients and portions do seem to match a homemade kind of feel. It absolutely tastes wonderful and like something might expect from a talented self taught chef. This probably means that the food is not light on the calories. As they don't list the calories, it's hard to know. The staff were very friendly and attentive - though not to the point that you might think them weird. They definitely care about your opinion of the restaurant and it shows! There is even a little bit of humor added into some signs in the bathroom (though nothing remotely obscene). The menu is broad enough to appeal to a variety of tastes and food requirements. This includes children, gluten free customers, vegetarians, and meat lovers. As others have mentioned, the pies are a must try. With some irregular flavors, such as a Jack Daniels Pecan Pie, you don't want to miss out. read more

Had a great lunch at Grammy's Kitchen while traveling. My husband and I both ordered the Patty Melt and did the loaded baked potato soup as our side. The sandwich was very good but the soup was fantastic! Good size portions, friendly staff and a cute little restaurant. If you are in Moffat Colorado in route to Crested Butte stop in! Happy Find on our route to the great sand dunes. Signs reading "don't come in if you're sick" greeted us as we entered into the unexpected super quaint interior! We were glad to see the COVID-19 precautions in place; limited socially distanced seating, and obvious cleaning procedures before and after customers were maintained. Our server was very nice. Burgers, Patty Melt, and French Dips (fries and onion rings looked to be hand cut and batter dipped) ordered, happily consumed - were super satisfying! I had the patty melt...the rye bread was toasty and super yummy with the "spread" that was on it. Beef was juicy and tasty. The meal was a bit greasy...but in the best road side kitchen way possible. Very pleased with the entire experience. Love mom and pop places! Would love to have breakfast there too. Looks like homemade bread was being kneaded in the kitchen. Worth the stop! read more

I've been on a retreat in Crestone for more than a week. While there I've been on what is a nutritious but bland diet. Saturday I wanted to hear others, to experience a local place. Crestone, while having wonderful food choices doesn't have that feel of authenticity I craved. People were coming and going regularly during breakfast. A group was gathered in the rear quietly talking (it's been dry here, but just this week there were several storms. That at least alleviates some of the fire that.). Tina welcomed me and guided me through the menu. I told Tina the review from the pregnant suburban-Denver woman on opening day sold me. I had to try this restaurant. I ordered the first item on the menu, subbing a pancake for the eggs. The homemade sour-dough bread was dense and wonderful. I spent so much time chatting with Tina that I let my breakfast get cold, my fault. Tina laughed and warmed it for me. This is a local dive in the middle of an arid country. Don't compare it to your anticeptic suburban yuppie suburban coffee shop. It is what it is and it is lovely and friendly. read more

I was incredibly disappointed with my meal at Grammys Kitchen on Grand Opening Saturday. All four of our meals came out at different times. The two mickey mouse pancakes for my kids were awesome! The biscuits and gravy my mom ordered were cold and my chicken fried steak was not meat, it was muscle. I'm pretty sure it was a frozen piece of meat and seriously disgusting. Of what I was able to eat ( 1/2 an egg and some hash browns) has made me sick for the past 4 days. I am pregnant and this has been extremely scary for me. I also was very unimpressed with one employee working on a "grand opening Saturday". I will not return... and as a local, this is a sad reality. read more

Stopped because of reviews. The waitress was friendly but didn't know the menu, the cook was loud and complains about everything. Food was Luke warm. Took 40 minutes to get breakfast.
