Stopped at Chappys for lunch on the way to Aspen. Oh my! Fits the bill for a mountain dive bar in Westcliffe. The burgers are pure beef never frozen and grilled at the bar grill. The grill itself is special with flames. I had the onion burger and it was out of this world. This burger is served with fried and grilled onions. Delicious! Fries were fantastic. Wife had the mushroom burger and it too was very tasty. Nice selection of beers served cold. Will stop there again on every trip to Aspen. read more

Came for dinner and had a good experience. The food and beers are very good here. Some of our favorites are the burgers, Mac n Cheese and side salads which we had this visit. We also tried the cheesecake since they were out of the peach cobbler. First of all we are a group of motorcyclists. 18 of us. This was seventh year. We call ourselves "The Steak Run", our 7th year doing this. Guess what we eat? Yep steaks! When we arrive at pre-arranged places we expect poor service and cold horrible steaks. So I don't review on Yelp, because well we are a large needy group. Poor service is expected. Well Chappy's was fantastic. In fact better than anyone expected. A few hours before we arrived the owner called our designated leader and asked for our steak type! The reason was he was going hand cut them before we arrived. I had the ribeye. Fantastic! Everybody was happy with the cuts, temperature, and cooked wants. The drinks were affordable, the dinners were too! After dinner the owner came and spoke to all is and he was appreciative of us coming. A nice touch. We love this quaint little restaurant in the heart of downtown Westcliffe. The wood fired grill is the star of the show! The burgers, grilled chicken sandwiches and salads are all really great! The hand-cut fries are the icing on the cake - very crisp, not soggy at all. The service is excellent once you realize there is a single person answering the phone for takeout orders, making cocktails and waiting on all the tables. It's actually impressive! The food is great: the portions are immense and everything is seasoned perfectly. When I was there, the service wasn't horrible, but it was very slow because there seemed to only be one waitress for the entire restaurant (I think I overhead they were short-staffed). If you don't mind hanging out for a while, Chappy's is a great place for a really good burger. I personally recommend the BLT. read more

Came down off the mountain for a lunch specifically AT CHAPPYS with a couple family members from out of town.. There were PLENTY of tables open. The waitress (owner?) said 'I have nothing for you'.... & literally turned us away. Totally felt discriminated against for bringing in a couple kids? Not sure what her problem was. She looked pissed the minute we walked in. I could imagine if she's the owner and is also short staffed/one of the only waitresses, it's because I for sure wouldn't work for a bitch like her. I love a good burger, and Chappy's has that, but depending on who's serving you either get some of the best service in town or the worst in Colorado. My husband and I stopped at Chappy's on a visit to Westcliffe. We were promptly seated on a Friday night and had great service throughout the evening. The burgers and fries are freshly made so they take 15-20 minutes. I imagine if it has been busy night, this could have taken longer. However, it was worth the wait! Burgers were juicy and fresh. We were really disappointed by our experience, especially because we truly love the food here. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed it. When we walked in, our server (Jersey) immediately told us -- in a very abrupt tone -- that the only available table was a high-top in the back corner. There were several open tables in the front, so we politely asked if we could sit at one of those instead. She told us those were being "saved for bigger groups" because we were only two people. When we mentioned the table we normally sit at, she responded with, "What are you disabled? Is that why you can't sit at a high top?" That comment was shocking, inappropriate, and completely unprofessional. It made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome from the moment we walked in. It's really unfortunate because the difference between the wonderful service we've had from other servers and this experience was night and day. We've always enjoyed the food, but being treated like an inconvenience simply for walking through the door is unacceptable. We know the owners will do nothing as they are selling their restaurant, which is a good thing because if you are in the hospitality industry, you should at least be hospitable to those that frequent you're establishment The food deserves better representation than the service we received. read more

She took order and seems she likes to repeat 'alrighty' with everyone she helped Told her and bartender that drink was disgusting and rather than offer me another beer I ended paying $10.79 for 12 oz which I drank half.
