We love this quaint little restaurant in the heart of downtown Westcliffe. The wood fired grill is the star of the show! The burgers, grilled chicken sandwiches and salads are all really great! The hand-cut fries are the icing on the cake - very crisp, not soggy at all. The service is excellent once you realize there is a single person answering the phone for takeout orders, making cocktails and waiting on all the tables. It's actually impressive! The food is great: the portions are immense and everything is seasoned perfectly. When I was there, the service wasn't horrible, but it was very slow because there seemed to only be one waitress for the entire restaurant (I think I overhead they were short-staffed). If you don't mind hanging out for a while, Chappy's is a great place for a really good burger. I personally recommend the BLT. read more

We were really disappointed by our experience, especially because we truly love the food here. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed it. When we walked in, our server (Jersey) immediately told us -- in a very abrupt tone -- that the only available table was a high-top in the back corner. There were several open tables in the front, so we politely asked if we could sit at one of those instead. She told us those were being "saved for bigger groups" because we were only two people. When we mentioned the table we normally sit at, she responded with, "What are you disabled? Is that why you can't sit at a high top?" That comment was shocking, inappropriate, and completely unprofessional. It made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome from the moment we walked in. It's really unfortunate because the difference between the wonderful service we've had from other servers and this experience was night and day. We've always enjoyed the food, but being treated like an inconvenience simply for walking through the door is unacceptable. We know the owners will do nothing as they are selling their restaurant, which is a good thing because if you are in the hospitality industry, you should at least be hospitable to those that frequent you're establishment The food deserves better representation than the service we received. read more

My husband and I stopped at Chappy's on a visit to Westcliffe. We were promptly seated on a Friday night and had great service throughout the evening. The burgers and fries are freshly made so they take 15-20 minutes. I imagine if it has been busy night, this could have taken longer. However, it was worth the wait! Burgers were juicy and fresh. We had a great meal tonight at Chappy's. My husband and I split a ribeye which they cut in half for us; so thoughtful! She took order and seems she likes to repeat 'alrighty' with everyone she helped Told her and bartender that drink was disgusting and rather than offer me another beer I ended paying $10.79 for 12 oz which I drank half. I have visited Chappy's twice now and wow, this is one of the best burgers I have ever eaten. The meat is pure clean beef that tase like beef, go figure. The buns are lightly sweet which really adds to the tase and experience. The 2nd visit I had the burger with egg and bacon and every thing was cooked to perfection. My beyond burger was fantastic but also took two requests to get the seared mushrooms. The manager and our server were super accommodating and everything turned out great! Noisy, unorganized, busy bar...it was Friday late afternoon. Either they were understaffed or unexpectedly slow...they were busy...I ordered my burger medium rare...it came barely medium. We had just climbed Bishop's Castle and we were hungry...so sending it back was not an option. The French fries are hand cut fresh...I asked for them extra crispy and was essentially no because they were "hand cut"...not sure why they would not be able to put them down twice to make them extra Krispy. To top it off...I left my table to flag down our server as it was time to start heading back to Denver...I accidently left my jacket on the back of chair 5...forgot to go back to the table as my friends got up and were walking out...When we called the next day to inquire...the lady who answered the phone when we called to ask if it had been found?... I have been around the area for about 32 years and have never been treated so rudely. Went in today Friday September 5th 2025. The owner/ server greeted us by saying take the far table. She came back to drop menus on the table. Then another table came in and she came to get our drink order and halfway through left to pay attention to another table. She did come back to get food order and drink order as two more tables came in my friend and I Waited for our beers and watched all the tables that came in after us receive their beer. After roughly 10 minutes, my friend went to ask her why and she yelled at him and so we left. I found her extremely rude, and unless you're a local, I recommend that you avoid Chappys unless you have all day and like to be treated like shit. We will not go back. read more
