Always good food I have visited this fine establishment many times over the years very nice place busy at times but works well

We buy take-out at this business atleast twice a month so our cost is usually predictable. We noticed whenever this cashier-Manger, listed on our receipt, is not working, our price is lower. He is an asian man and always there on Sundays. Twice we challenged him on our total because it seemed high. When we got our phone to do the math, he immediately lowered it by 10%. On the receipt during our last visit, he first said it was $53.74. After the challenge, he lowered it to $49.22. The receipt read total of $53.74 if tip of $4.52 offered. This has happened twice, that we know of. Be careful when you order take-out. We should be allowed to see the weight of the food. Deceptive business practices seem to be occuring here. That 10% tip could greatly add up. Who leaves a tip for take-out? read more

We had a really good experience at Grand Buffet! I feel like this buffet can be hit or miss, but today was very fresh! I think I would have given them a 3.5 stars if you could give half stars. Monday-Friday they have a lunch buffet for adults from 11 am-3:30 pm for $14.70! This seems to be the cheapest price, but can also come on other days and times (photo attached with updated prices). You can also get a takeout box which they weigh to see how much it would cost you. We immediately got a seat and were able to get our food no problem! The restaurant was very busy and people really seemed to be enjoying coming. They do have a "wall of shame" when you first come in with people that have left the restaurant without paying for their food. I have never seen this before and find it interesting they screenshot their security cameras and print off photos of people to put on the wall! I hate they have had so many people leave without paying...just wanted to mention it since it was a shock to me the first time! The restrooms are very dark and not super clean. The water does get hot though! Overall the food was really good! The sushi wasn't super fresh tasting but other than that liked the other food. read more

Grand Buffet is a hit or miss. I want to like it every time I visit, but something is always off. The sushi is not always fresh. Some have been sitting for a while and it makes them dry. You can also tell this with the rest of the buffet tables. Some things are dry from sitting under the heat lamps. I also wish they would change things up. It's always the same when we've gone. The best part is the Mongolian and I feel it's not worth the buffet price to just get that. read more

3.5 stars: Large selection including southern fare - collard greens, black eyed peas, crawfish, etc. Ample fresh cut fruit, salad bar, and a hibachi grill. Not everything was hot and fresh, but enough items were. Floors are sticky and slippery, furniture is run down, and the decor is a mish-mash. The offerings were ample enough that I can see coming back when traveling through. read more

The food wasn't great quality. What got me the most upset was watching our server at her station rub her eyes, then put drops in and continued working at tables. She served our glasses with those hands afterwards. I saw another food handler drop a serving spoon at the buffet and pick it up for people to continue using. Just horrified. The food was delicious! I had everything from soul to seafood to traditional Chinese food and it was all delicious! Our wait time was not long at all. The line was pretty long, but we were seated within 5 minutes. The hostess and the waitress were friendly and helpful. As for food, the sushi was amazing! I tried several kinds and was pleased with them all. I also tried the Crab & Cheese Wonton bites and loved them. The price is extremely reasonable for the amount and taste of the food! First time visiting Memphis, craving for some soul foods; found this restaurant from Yelp. To our surprise, this restaurant has everything we wanted and plus more! We are seafood lovers, they have all kinds of seafoods here, including Whole fried Tilapia, fried Catfish fillets, so fresh and crunchy! Plus, all kinds of shrimps, fish, salmon, clams, craw fish,etc. they were all delicious! Plenty of chicken, beef, ribs, pork and vegetables. Plus, Sushi, and Mongolian bbq. and all kinds of soul foods. The whole buffet sections were huge! And they kept replenishing more foods. It really need guts to practice Self Control! We have been to many buffets in different Cities and States; we have encountered many buffet's food replenishments seemed always slow, and seemed afraid people eating too much, or trying cut corners. Personally not a fan of buffets - Chinese or American - yet was taken here on someone else's dime. I normally don't go to buffets just due to the food sitting out and getting old and stale. Not to mention normally buffet food isn't as good as food that is prepared directly for you. Yet - Grand Buffett was surprisingly good. Honestly the place had a huge enough volume of people that everything was fresh and it didn't seem anything sat for an extended amount of time. Also based on the entrees that I had - the Chinese food was just as good as some delivery places that I had eaten at. Not to mention, if you didn't want what was in the buffet, they also offer hibachi services. From the fish to the interesting bathroom doors to a fully functional chocolate fountain, this place definitely invests in their business and I was pleasantly surprised by the end of my meal. read more

A great buffet with a large selection of Asian food! Their sushi section is very good, it may not be the same level as a sushi restaurant, but still good quality and amazing value. Great seafood selection, from fish fillets, to mussels and crawfish. They also have a Mongolian grill, which I haven't tried, in addition to many Chinese cuisine classics, all delicious, there wasn't a single dish that I didn't like! This was my first time here and I was pleasantly surprised at the variety and quality of the food. The dining area is clean and comfortable and the staff were very attentive. This place is awful. The food was okay.. There's so many people in there, you're literally standing on top of people the whole time. What really done it for me tho was our server. She filled up our drinks one time. My husband gave her his card to pay, and he does not like tipping on his card as he likes to give cash. After running his card, he writes 0$ on the tip part & she stands over top of him and says "Are you not gonna tip me?!" We were to stunned to even speak!! He begins to tell her how he was going to leave cash for the tip. Then she proceeds to say "Okay we'll go ahead and put the tip on here then"... I don't think any of the buffet warmers actually work, or maybe they just don't turn them on. I couldn't find one thing on the buffet that was hot. Even the soup didn't require blowing on it. It was only warm. Finally I noticed them bringing out a new dish that was steaming. That dish was hot, but I imagine it quickly cooled down. I realize this is buffet and that's one of the trade offs. The plus side is the variety and selection. They did fairly well in this department but the food temperature was well below average. I don't know how much of it was actually cooked but much was just opened, thawed out, or heated from frozen. Nothing impressed me, even by buffet standards. The store front is kind of bland. Without the sign, you couldn't tell it from a shoe store. It's a big place. It's really nice too until you go to the bathroom. Nothing terribly wrong but they decided not to keep in scale with the "grandness" of the place. Also I hate it when they use the hallway to the bathroom as storage for all their restaurant junk. Absolutely terrible, I don't understand how people eat here. We saw a worker in the drink station WIPE HER SHOES (including the bottom) and proceed to wipe the drink machine. And after that was wiping down tables with the SAME TOWEL. Our drinks were on the late side, for reference I had eaten my whole meal. So my dad was watching the lady making drinks he witnessed that and it was safe to say our (party of 6) ate free and we did not drink in that establishment. read more

When I asked for the check, I was preparing to make a payment, the server was hovering over me pointing at the tipping suggestions. I thought that was rude. I never got any refills. Arrived 10 minutes past 3 and waited for my guest to arrive. Just before 3:30 I asked the hostess what time lunch hours over. She said 3:30 so I wanted to be seated and mentioned that I was waiting for another person who was at that time parking. She had observed me sitting in front of her the entire time and said no problem you'll get the lunch price. I said ok. Within minutes my guest arrived and we were seated. When I was presented with the check I noticed it said dinner buffet so I pointed it out but the server said I was seated in the dinner section(news to me). I elected to pay at the register so I could speak with the hostess who seated us. She completely denied the entire conversation saying I arrived after the lunch hours. We are senior citizens and make a point of getting in and out before it gets crowded. The older guy who I also pointed this out to also said 'you ate dinner, not lunch. The food is the same, it's not changed or different! Be careful not to get blindsided by their pretense at speaking broken English. I normally don't prefer going to any type of Buffets Restaurant; however my sister insisted I give Grand Buffet a chance. When we walked through the door we received a genial warm welcome . My sister asked the hostess could we view the buffet first and she stated sure with a welcoming smile. Well let me tell you the variety and cleanliness was exceptional. I have to admit everything I tried was seasoned and cooked to perfection. I tried the chicken teriyaki. baked chicken, fried chicken, fried shrimp , raw shrimp, grill shrimp, fried catfish, greens , black eyed peas and the most amazing delicious chocolate cheesecake with chocolate icing. Everything was exceptional with not one complaint from myself or my two sisters . If you know my sisters you would truly be pleasantly surprised also lol. The price for the buffet was $14.99 plus tax which came out to $16.94 plus tip ( and yes please type because the staff is extremely attentive, friendly and helpful). I normally tip 25-30%.. If you are hungry and just can't decide what to eat give the Grand Buffet a try and I promise you will not be disappointed. They were ok. This is our go to Chinese buffet in the area. The restaurant is clean. Tables bussed quickly. Ladies room was clean and well stocked. Staff/service was friendly and attentive.
