Called order in, picked up with no issues. Food was great, serving size was plentiful! Clean place!

3 stars? 4 stars? Somewhere between I guess. BLUF - good food with terrible order taking system and terrible timing. Food is pretty good but the timing of the kitchen is so bad it's laughable. Everything is pick up, there are tables and chairs inside but I've never once seen anyone eat it it's always to go and the tables and chairs are for hanging out as you wait.... and wait.... and wait.... for the order you called to place some time ago. The "system" in place is archaic - just orders scribbled on random scribbled pieces of paper which I'm sure leads to missing items if you aren't diligent about specifying what you are there to pick up and what is in your order. Most recent visit I was told it'd be 40-45 minutes. Turned out to be more like 80 minutes, 40 of which were spent sitting in one of the aforementioned chairs at one of the aforementioned tables with a bunch of other people waiting for their orders. Small snarky side note - I was the only person waiting reading an actual honest to God real paper book - everyone else was on their phone watching Tik Tok or Instagram or some other crap. Anyway rant over - good food for sure but the time it takes to be made is crazy and I don't know if you can ever trust it at all. read more

Sometimes takes a while, but everything is always great, my go-to is kung pao chicken and egg rolls with some wontons

Let's start with the call, woman who I spoke with was short and rushed me off the phone, hung up on me even. Was disappointed when they said they no longer do boneless spare ribs. Crab rangoons, dry with little filling. Hot and sour soup, only had mushrooms and tofu. No carrots bean sprouts etc. Mongolian beef, ZERO spice or flavor, more veg and hardly any meat at all. In a brown flavorless gravy. Fried rice? ZERO veggies. We found one piece of egg in two orders of it. Sad. Pork and snow peas, again, same brown sauce no flavor and TONS of snow peas hardly any meat. I would highly advise against eating here. It appears they are trying to save nickels and dimes and cut out as much as they can. Stingy for what they make you pay. Very disappointed. read more

The cook, who I assume is also the owner is preparing the food. I have not seen any gloves worn and he has handled all different types of ingredients and food items. Have not properly washing of hands either. Nobody is within the restaurant, so that probably says something too. read more

Good local take out. I do wish they would put vegetables in my sweet-and-sour chicken. However, not too many people care about the vegetables on that. I'm spoiled because I'm a foodie and I love Asian food so venture out in Memphis. I definitely will still go there though because I feel like I need to support them so one of them will smile. Owners are definitely hard-working, maybe they are tired. read more

The orange chicken was Very Good but that was it. Shrimp was almost mushy and the meat in the house fried rice had no seasoning. The house chow mein didn't have noodles in it. The worst hot and sour soup I've ever had. Left a disgusting after taste in your mouth. It was neither hot nor sour just gross. The shrimp fried rice was mushy. The food was just not good. Which is sad bc the cooks seems so nice. But this is a hard pass. read more

My family has been eating here for years. We even frequented when they owned New China buffet. I have tried so many other Chinese places and nothing compares! Shanghai House is the best in Desoto County. I moved to Hernando and still drive there for my Chinese takeout!! read more

I think they're understaffed because the wait was 30+ minutes for takeout but the food was good, didn't care too much for the chicken in the fried rice. Overall I'd visit again, I prefer their orange chicken to Panda Express. read more

Don't stop if you think this is going to be any sort of "fast food" because Christmas will come and go before you actually get your order. I've seen snails move at a faster pace. Quite a few of my friends live in this neighborhood. So I figure I stopped by their neighborhood Chinese takeout place that my friend John P said, "Was decent," and Amanda B said, "Good for a Tuesday night." I ordered a Spicy Shredded Beef and my friend ordered Sesame Chicken special combinations (including pork fried rice and eggrolls). I also order dumplings because, whenever I think of Shanghainese, I think dumplings. So what we winded up getting is tasteless fried rice with no pork, doughy eggrolls filled with very little of anything else, extremely chewy chicken, and "how the heck is this supposed to be shredded" beef with 95% more onions than there are beef (which is definitely not shredded). I wasn't looking for soup dumplings, I'm just looking for some jiaozi; but what I got was mini wontons with a super watered down dipping sauce, that they probably purchased from Costco - Bibigo wontons perhaps. I would not recommend this place for any time of any day. I eat often at Chinese take-out places like Green China, Wok N Roll, Rice Bowl, and even Yum's. How the heck could Shanghai House be so bad, I have no idea. As for service, the guy was kind of rude. But the lady is nice enough I suppose. We order here at least a couple times a month. We have learned that weekends and Fridays are there busiest time and that to expect to wait 45min or more. There is only two people working. The food is consistently good and we have a lot of different things in the menu. We usual get general Tao, white rice, egg roll, wontons, egg drop soup, chicken wings, and pork dumplings. We have tried pretty much all of the other Asian places in the area and this is the only place for us that is constantly good. The Red Koi in Hernando is our second favorite, but that's Habachi. read more

We live near here and usually get our Chinese here. Food is very reliable. My kids will only get food from here. Portions are not as generous as some other places where you can get 3 meals out of them, but are still good. Family run place and genuine. They DO NOT deliver or have online ordering. This is done with an outside company. Just a warning as I stood with unhappy people who had ordered online, but the restaurant wasn't paid. read more

There is a 25 minute wait time for a simple order. When I finally got my food (which was the Mongolian chicken) didn't taste anything like Mongolian chicken it tasted like grilled chicken. I am disappointed at the fact that for so long of time the food wasn't good at all. read more

I've gotten used to a specific type of Chinese food. It wasn't terrible but just not as flavorful as I prefer. I tried the sweet and sour chicken and cheese wonton. Different flavor of sweet and sour that I didn't like but the chicken was thankfully not too much breaking. Cheese wonton I would've preferred more filling but was good for what was there. read more

I was visiting my parents in Nesbit, Ms just a stone throw from this eatery. The only so called Chinese takeout in the area. Well, don't order the Sweet and Sour Pork, all you receive is a hunk of pork and sweet and sour sauce! Really? What part of China are these owners from????? I called to question the order, where's the pineapple, carrots, green peppers and onions? The answer was this is an American Chinese eatery and this is how the locals like it.....when I mentioned I cook Chinese at home and the recipe calls for vegetables the young man on the phone didn't care and basically advised me to stay in the area that I live in, which is north of this city by 20miles.
