Ok so I really don't like to do this ... I rarely give out low ratings ... but I have to remain authentic and true to my experience. I really wanted to love this place... I saw it on IG... photos of the food looks amazing and my friend felt the same...so we decided to come here for a birthday brunch with my friend. I thought coming on a weekday would be so much better - not too busy like a weekend- usually you get better service etc. Anyway - a disclaimer - so I already had a bad taste in my mouth before walking in because of parking... BEWARE on parking in front of place . You cannot park unless there is a meter and you pay. Right in front - I know there is no signs for "NO parking" nor a yellow curb to indicate no parking . I saw all the cars getting tickets in front and I asked the parking enforcement officer about the parking situation and he was nasty with me for no reason. I had to tell him about himself and point out there are NO signs saying you can't park in those areas. I didn't get a ticket but that interaction was un- necessary. I am hoping that others will see this and be aware so to avoid getting a ticket. Anyway I know that this establishment had no control of this and that this issue does not have any weight in my rating. So we walk in. Two girls were there - one said hello and said we could sit in any table we wanted. Cool. There were only two other tables occupied and I was thrilled. I did notify the staff about the parking issue so they were aware - and they obviously didn't know because the one girl found out she got a ticket. ~~~~~~~~~ Reasons for my rating... It was a tad chilly in the place. Not very comfortable. No menus on the table. Had to get up and grab them from other tables plus no online menu. No one came to our table to orient us, ask us if we had any questions etc. For a moment - I wondered if we had to go to counter , order , pay then sit down . I had to finally ask the staff ( nicely Of course) " excuse me do we have to come to counter to order 1st" but they said no and then came to us. The girls were friendly and nice- don't get me wrong. But good service is more than being friendly and nice. It's being efficient and mindful and waiting on your customers and I am one of the easiest customers as they come. And the place was NOT busy- it was Monday am and there were only two other tables who already had their meals. We ordered cappuccinos. Cool. Then we tried to ordered our meals. I had my eye on the shrimp and grits because that is what got my eye on the sponsored ads on IG. Nope - they were out of them . My friend asked about something else but needed more time because she didn't really see anything that really had her eye- except to share the banana bread pudding that I also eyed to try as well. We decided to get that to share and then we would decide what to get as our main meal. Guess what- they were out of that too. LOL. We asked what did they have and the list was super limited. Not how I wanted to have a birthday brunch with my gal pal. We ended up having our cappuccinos then leaving to find another brunch spot. According to Yelp- the oldest review is 4 months. New place but not that new. Management should address the parking out front and make sure their customers are made aware , put their menu online, make sure service is improved and make sure they have stock of what is on their menu. I am aware that new businesses sometimes need some tweaking but this experience had too many issues . I really don't see myself coming back unless I know for certain that it is managed more efficiently . Very disappointed. So my friend and I came here to use a Groupon that I had purchased and kind of glad we had it. We were promptly greeted as there was no one in the restaurant but the workers and a guy at the counter speaking to the girl. She told us to sit anywhere we wanted to so we opted for a 1/2 booth 1/2 table. She informed us that they didn't have any fried chicken or pizzas. Some of their menu is only available me for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays so we were very limited in what we could actually order. We were left with paninis, salads, fries, and quesadillas. To drink we were informed that they had Coke, Sprite, and something else which my friend thought was Pepsi but I'm not sure. I asked for a Diet Coke and she said they didn't have it. She was serious when she said they only had those 3 kinds. We found out that they were canned as we heard her open them from behind the bar. Not really sure why a place wouldn't invest in some Diet cans as well but who am I, right? We shared an order of curly fries which we were informed weren't curly but straight and seasoned. They were okay but definitely not worth the $5 we were charged for them. My friend had the pesto chicken panini and I had the shrimp quesadilla. My friend's meal was good but he soad it was a little greasy. My quesadilla was okay but it could have had more shrimp in it. The decor is very chic and is in a new development. I never would have known about this place without the Groupon. All in all it was just weird that we couldn't get 1/2 the menu and we will probably not go back with or without a Groupon. read more

At first I thought this place was closed due to Yelp, but I took a chance and ventured out anyway. Came on a sunny Sunday afternoon around 2pm or so. There were three other parties seated at the time and a gentleman singing and playing the keyboard. My waitress seated me and took my order. Food- had the Tex mex bowl and it was delicious and very very filling. Seasoned to perfection. My only complaint was that the potatoes were cut too big. I had to cut one piece two to three size for them to become bite sized. And...I wish it came with two fried eggs. The potato portion are in abundance and another egg would have made it just right. Service- needs a but improving. Received my cappuccino but never asked if I wanted sugar. Requested sugar, got it but no spoon or stirrer. Ambiance - cute spot, parking available on the street. I never noticed this was an actual restaurant until I was invited for a birthday brunch. I came a little late but was served as soon as the staff noticed. I ordered a French toast & joined the group with mimosas. The food didn't take long to come out & honestly, was alot better than I expected lol. I ate all of it tbh and would probably go back to brunch to try the other items on the menu as the party deemed it worth coming back for. The griot pizza is really the main star of this review! I noticed they were making pizzas while dining in & I asked Billy, one of the staff, how much were they as a whole & a slice. He told me they don't really sell them separately but he'll see what he can do. He came back with a personal pie & I was so excited & appreciative! By this point, I knew I was stuffed & couldn't fit much more in my stomach but I was determined to try it out. The first bite was so good, I ended up finishing my slice to really make my mind up on it. It was just the right amount of everything on the pizza & I really liked the crust too. I think it would definitely top the notch if it was also served with pikliz, a spicy Haitian relish, & had different options for meats. A beef & chicken option would go crazy! We took my mom here for grandparents day last year. I just came across the receipt and realized I never submitted a review. Contrary to other reviewers we found parking immediately and right out front. I guess it depends on the time you go, we went around 130p on a Sunday and parking was free. We had a reservation so we only waited about 10 minutes to be seated. We received complimentary mimosas for the wait The seasoned fries and French toast were delicious! This place is newly opened & it was pretty good! I saw another yelper's review about parking out front & you needed to pay for parking. I asked the employees where I can pay, but they gave me a menu and said if I put it on the window, no one will give me a ticket. The service was good here. She was very kind and very attentive. We ordered an iced americano and hot chocolate. My sister who works at a cafe said this was a very good americano. The hot chocolate I had was also really good. I got regular milk with brown sugar on it. There are alternative options for milk for people who prefer other kinds. I ordered the chicken buttermilk waffles. It was pretty good. The only thing I didn't like was having to deal with the bones in the chicken, but the seasoning was good & waffle was spongey. Overall, I would come back for sure. The food is really good. I had the shrimp and grits- very flavorful. The grits alone were good and with the added seasoned shrimp made it a delicious dish. I also ordered the waffle quad (that has the cornbread waffle, red velvet, Oreo, and banana walnut). The presentation was nice and I'm happy I got to try a bit of each one. The cornbread and oreo were my fav. The ambiance is nice and very social media pic worthy. It was slow when I went (I was basically the only one there) and the waitress was nice. I'll be back. Parking can/will be an issue but that's on the city and not on the business since it's street parking. I would suggest making sure you have quarters on hand (a quarter gives you 10 mins and the meter has a 3 hour time limit) if you're at a self standing metered spot. The parking on Murray is paid off a parking machine so cards/cash should work there. I'll be back for sure! read more

I came with my family on a Sunday and it wasn't busy at all but it took about 10 mins for us to be seated. Once seated it took 20 mins for someone to bring us our drinks, they also ran out of straws. Once the waitress came over to serve us she let us know basically they were out of 90% of their menu and it was only noon. I ordered waffles and had to wait 15 mins for syrup, my sister ordered a breakfast bowl and they forgot to add the sausage that come with it, when they finally brought it out we had finished eating. I don't usually write reviews but this restaurant needs to get better at organizations if it wants to stay in business. read more
