The shrimp lo mein was actually really good but the chicken subgum had raw carrots that about broke your teeth! The biggest disappointment was the the wonton soup. It has been interesting since there seems to be a change in owners. I have had orders made completely wrong and items not made with consistency. Recently I ordered a beef and broccoli lunch special with a vegetable egg roll and wonton soup. The egg roll was NOTA vegetable and was cold and soggy, the soup was room temperature but the beef and broccoli was hot. The entrees are not consistent. I had a beef and broccoli that was done excellently and have gone back over three weeks and have yet to get the same flavor, including this last order. Not to mention that prices have a increased 24% over the last six weeks and quality has diminished. Its time to try other nearby restaurants that have better ratings and lower prices. read more

I have given this same restaurant 5 stars before.I'm so disappointed: I have ordered from here the last 6 months. Due to COVID, it closed for two weeks.After re-opening, I went back for sweet and sour chicken and egg foo young. The chicken had been refried and fried rice was not fresh. I could not eat it.They eliminated the lunch combos so it was $2 more for the regular combo. Well, there used to be 3 patties now with the more expensive order, there were two thin patties that were overcooked. I live 10 miles from the restaurant so it takes effort and intent to go there. If I could give zero stars I would due the the lack of customer service! Ordered beef lo mein for lunch was craving it so bad. When I opened it up to start eating it the meat was not beef but pork. Called in to the restaurant basically arguing with the lady about the color of the meat. I know beef looks like that wasn't it. She tried to tell me to eat the wrong dish and get a free meal next time. I informed her that I don't eat pork for religious reasons and needed it replaced. Due to her giving me a hard time about the color of the meat I brought the wrong dish back. She kept saying that it was beef. I never seen light pink beef before. She handed me the new one and took the old to throw away. I told her to give it back for the inconvenience of driving back and wasting my lunch break. She took it from my hands we were basically fighting over it. This use to be my favorite Chinese spot but after the way they handled this concern. Another awesome dinner thanks to Grand China! Tonight we had Combo #9 (General Tso chicken) and Combo #10 (orange chicken), along with Hot and Sour soup. Everything was absolutely delicious! Proportions were very generous and tasted great. The soup was especially delicious, thick and filled with tofu, mushroom, sprouts and egg. One of the better Hot and Sours I've had. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but a pleasant surprise when it comes to the food. I haven't had a bad meal and it seems very authentic. No! I cannot recommend Grand China anymore! I must have just been being optimistic the other times. It is not clean in there! They had food sitting in cardboard boxes like that would have held cereal boxes at aldi - they had egg rolls just sitting in old boxes like that. Even a worse sin than unsanitary conditions is the slowness. I order while at work and then go to pick it up. No matter when I order the food they don't seem to start it until I get there! I waited 35 minutes until I even left to pick it up - still had to wait 15 minutes. They overcooked the egg foo yung while spending forever on the phone - taking money doing whatever - all the while not washing hands. No thanks Grand China! read more

I've been going to Grand China ever since I moved to Mayfield my sophomore year of high school. Though I don't live close there now, I'd still make the drive to get their food. The woman knows me so well she knows what I want the second I step in the door. The sesame chicken combination! She says. Damn straight. I love their rice as well, and a chinese place needs to have good rice. Overall, its not just one of those shoddy backlit sign places. Its not redundant. It has character, and so do the people working there. Give it a try, and give them some well deserved business. read more

If I could give it no stars I would. The staff is perfectly nice here, and that's fine, but the place is filthy. I'm thinking of calling the health department. I ordered thirty dollars worth of food, so when I got there I didn't expect them to be done making my order, again also fine. However, where I drew the line was when the cook wiped her nose, touched my shrimp with her bare hands, and continued making my order like I wasn't watching her at the counter. Horrible. The same old, everything-flavored oil was used to fry the tempura, egg roles and wontons. As a result it all looked and tasted the same (dark from the oil and a horrible mixed flavor that probably came from the hundreds or thousands of meals fried in that exact same frier without changing it) and so needless to say was super gross. The breading on the honey walnut shrimp was not crispy and the sauce wasn't appetizing either - it was sort of slimy and bland. No sweet sauce was provided for the fried stuff which I thought was just weird - I might have been able to choke down the food instead of throwing it away if I'd had some better sauce. Even the rice was poor quality - short grain and not sticky. Don't eat here. I only ordered from here because the hotel gave me a menu... After reading all of these reviews I'm highly disappointed in what people call good food. This food was beyond below average. I ordered shrimp Kung pao and 8 winglets. The shrimp Kung pao was upsetting because I only received about 3 shrimp. Then to add insult to injury the food was just nasty. I have ordered this dish from DC to ohio to Atlanta to San Antonio to Houston. And this was the worst one ever. The wings were so small I thought I would die from still being hungry. This place was a big let down. You all need to reevaluate what you consider good food. read more

This used to be my absolute favorite Chinese take out store. I still order there from time to time because they deliver to my location and it's convenient. The food is not the same as it used to be in my opinion. Their food used to have that addictive Chinese food taste you guys know what I'm talking about I can't describe it in any words that make sense besides the addictive factor lol. It no longer is up to the standards it used to be at. The delivery time now takes atleast and hour and a half which I would say has only been a thing for the past year. The lady on the phone can be hard to understand at times and sometimes doesn't listen which might just be a language barrier thing, I'm not sure, she seems to know me and my family members when we call by our order which is kinda cool and used to be convenient back in the day but now can be inconvenient at times because we change often what we order. She used to be more friendly if that makes sense but I don't like judging if I like a place by superficial characteristics like that. What it comes down to for me is that the food is not great like it used to be. It's ok if you're in a pinch and are really craving some Chinese it can kind of suppress that craving. Just make sure you order like 1-2 hours before you'd want the food if you're ordering delivery. read more

Unfortunately, this place has a monopoly on Chinese food take-out in this area....There used to be a few others around but this place has actually swooped up all of their phone numbers as well..so be careful about where you think you are calling. I called to order from the chinese place in Golden Gate and apparently the call got redirected to here. Was a bit of a surprise..the other place had closed. ANYWAY, the food is meh...nothing special. Even though I called in my order ahead of time, I still waited for a while in the gross lobby. Also watched the "cooks" microwave several large slabs of raw beef...that was interesting. Lastly, I'm not trying to be mean but the woman who answers the phone is literally incomprehensible. She got out order completely wrong and never asks for a name or phone number...I could not understand a word she was saying...and I'm pretty well versed in accents (science community). I will not say I won't order from here again because out of desperation, I probably will...but it really isn't very good. read more

Terrible !! I ordered food online and this is the first & last time I'll order food from this restaurant. I had paid online for this order. The delivery guy came and started asking for cash. When I mentioned I paid online, he said "that's not possible?". Then we spent another 15 mins resolving the issue with the owner. Finally, I thought I'll enjoy my food. I ordered "Chicken Egg Foo Yung". It's a Chinese omelet. The egg was burnt and dark brown in color. There was hardly any chicken in it. Despite how much I absolutely hate dealing with the woman who answers the phone, we order from this place once every 1-2 weeks. It's not that the food is out of this world or anything. I mean it's good but it's not to die for. My main complaint is the woman who always answers the phone. I agree with the other reviews, she is completely unintelligible and so rude! I actually called yesterday to place an order and she hung up on me as soon as I finished stating what I wanted. I had to call back to say that I wouldn't be picking my order up for half an hour. She never gives me a total for my order, the estimated delivery time, or payment method. There was one week when they had a very pleasant girl working the front. She was awesome! If I could give this place zero stars, I would do so. The first time I went there, the woman at the counter was very unfriendly and I was given someone else's order. After paying and getting in my car, she chased me outside to give me the correct food. When I got home, I noticed it was still wrong. I went there again recently and the same woman didn't look up for 5 minutes after I walked in. I finally was able to give her my name for the order I called in and she was unbelievably curt with me. Ordered a SMALL ORANGE CHICKEN and she charges me $7, it came in a tiny white styrofoam container , it was enough for THREE BITES .
