The stay was fine, near necessities for supplies (Walmart) and a great Midwest nostalgic diner (Tommy's Family Restaurant). Check in was a little disconcerting with a desk clerk correcting another staff member. I needed quarters the next morning for laundry and could only get one roll of quarters from the same desk clerk....I know they have buckets of quarters from the washing machines ...so that seemed pretty unaccommodating. This is a very nice KOA. I arrived at 1:15 and Lowanda (?) moved me from a full sun site to a shaded one and I didn't even ask her to. She said "Early bird gets the worm". It's a nice park with decent sized sites. There is nice playground for littles, a pool if that is what floats your boat, and a cute little dog playground for the puppers. read more

This was our second RV/KOA camping experience and it was exactly what I was hoping for when I came up with the idea of staying at KOA sites along our cross-country move. When we arrived, it was windy and peaceful outside, and we were greeted with friendly assistance from the crew inside. Because we had a cruise America RV, we got 10% off on our stay so it was about 40 bucks. Our slot at this campground was a pull through which was really nice because our rig was 30 ft. Our area just had water and electricity, and we used the dump site on the other end of the campground for dumping purposes on our way out. Overall, this campsite was well maintained, quiet, peaceful, and had a gorgeous sunset and sunrise during our one night stay there. Even though this is out in the middle of nowhere, if I were RVing through this area again, I would absolutely make the effort to stop here and stay again. read more

Gorgeous location and very friendly hosts! We opted for their recently renovated patio site. Bbq, fire pit, swing, canopy over table and chairs and a gorgeous view of a huge tree and perfect sunset over the cornfield! John and Julie go out of their way to make you feel welcome. When we said we were tired from the drive in from Wyoming and asked where to eat... they said on our patio! I ordered pizza in the office, picked up cold beer and in just a few minutes, John hand delivered our pizza to our patio! Check out the photos... new dog park was getting a lot of attention today. Ours is too old to fully enjoy the size of third area but enjoyed barking at all who came by. They have several tent areas. Many are on grass! Water and electric available. Most of the sites are around several mature trees and grassed areas. KOA continues to be our preferred camping choice as we cross the country. This Journey went way above the norm! My family and I were traveling and decided to stop in Nebraska. We made the reservations the morning of and had no problems. The staff at this KOA was amazing. My dad forgot to get firewood when we were coming back from town and he called the campsite right before they closed and John was so kind and had the firewood set up at our site for when we got back. We've stayed at a few KOA's and this one is now our favorite. Everyone is so kind and the town is so beautiful. Site is very clean and well maintained! read more

I know a lot of people like KOA's but I was absolutely unimpressed. We paid $70 or 80 for the night yet our steps folded down almost on top of our neighbor's sewer. The gravel pads were so narrow, we had no choice or ability to maneuver to avoid this and still fit the truck and camper (its a 28' box- not huge!) in our site. There was a bathhouse very close which we thought would be a plus. However, each time my husband or I tried to use it, it was occupied. It turned out to have only one seat total for men and women and this was a fairly large campground. I'm sure there was another one somewhere but we didn't see it and decided to just use our own facilities. The dog area had piles in it- the whole campground just felt unkept. We paid $24-41 for every other campground on our 10 day trip and everyone of those campgrounds was so much better than this one. read more

2 mi off I-80 NO traffic noise HOORAY Most recent stay was 6/17/16 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop" style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. 1st impression this is nice - a welcomed site after hours on the road next to cornfield with sites amongst the trees for shade & green grass. But then close up this is a typical KOA with very narrow close together sites packed together like a can of sardines RV park style with gravel pads and roadways. We had a picnic table but strip of grass was very narrow sandwiched between neighbor RV's. There are many cabins for rent and a nice separate grassy area for tenter's; all close to the restroom/showers ~ as were we. So placement of that building was ideally situated. Nice swimming pool area too. The building held 6 individual unisex restroom/shower rooms. Down the hall on one side were 3 ea private shower rooms, opposite side were 3 ea private restrooms with a toilet and sink. At one end was an ADA shower/restroom combined. All were modern and clean. Shower rooms had hooks for clothes/towels, wall bench, and rubber floor mat for wet feet. Missing was a shelf for your toiletries stuff. Only NEGATIVE was Lack Of Adequate Ventilation; nonexistent and it got very stuffy in there. Trying to towel off dry was a joke! If you open the door a crack to get air, you're exposed to next person in hallway waiting in line. Restrooms had paper towels so you could clean up your area after and a shelf for toiletries - very thoughtful, but no hooks for towel and clothes. Same ventilation problem. Note: there is a 2nd restroom/shower facility connected to the office building; the ventilation is so much better. 3 star is because of tight rv spaces and bad ventilation in shower building read more

Traveling back and forth to Yellowstone from the east coast and have stayed at several KOA campgrounds while on the road. They are Perfect for an overnight stop --most have been OK. However this KOA is the best we have been to. Great sites, trees and more spacious than most. Surrounded by cornfields Great owners and staff - friendly and helpful. Grounds are Clean and well maintained Wish more KOAs lived up to this one! I have found many campground descriptions to be heavily embellished-- this campground is spot on and even nicer than described! read more

No shower curtain in our cabin and no cable tv as advertised as channels were froze. Dillon switched us to another cabin. Same issue with no cable tv and no hot water in cabin or off of office. Other restrooms there were closed. Reserved month in advance. Blinds broken and uncomfortable futon. Pizza was good but Dillon said he had no change to give back.. Heidi said would give discount, but still waiting month later. This place is going downhill. Would not recommend and not staying here again. read more

My friend and I traveling from Portland, Oregon thought it would be a good idea to stay here for a night. We were about 20 minutes away when we got a warning on our phones of a Severe Thunder and Lightning storm. With it storming so horribly and pouring down rain we as young college students were afraid to sleep in a tent. Because the weather is completely out of our control we called hoping to get a refund. We were met with a rude employee who insisted horrible weather conditions were not good enough reason to issue a refund. She then suggested we just sleep in the car in our reserved spot. This is one of the nicest KOA's we've stayed at. The girls in the office are super sweet and then we were escorted to our spot by a nice man in a golf cart. The sites are level, decently shaded and the people were quiet. They recycle which I appreciate. The best part though is the pool. It's just a pool but its super clean and we had it to ourselves. Highlight of our time in Nebraska. Definitely great for our stop over. read more

Had a long day on the road RVing East on I 80 in heavy winds 35 to 50+ miles an hour. Made reservation by mistake at another KOA and pulled into Grand Island KOA without reservation. The staff and owner were just amazing!! They fixed my reservation at the other KOA and had it credited back to my card and got me a spot for the night. Amazing customer service and a credit to this beautiful KOA Journey Campground! Pride of ownership all around! If you need a great place to stay, pull in here for sure. read more

Everything was great - clean, comfortable, nice area outside our cabin to relax ... BUT the hot water smelled strongly of sulfur. Not good for coffee, bath/shower or even brushing teeth. This would have been a 5-star, except for that, which kinda ruined it for us. Time for them to get a new water heater for KS2! read more

Decided to stay here for the state trap shooting event in Doniphan, Nebraska. We parked our cars in the stall next to us intending to move if someone has to park their camper there. Eventually someone came and the owner came driving in front of them. He walks over to us all mad and stuff, and yells at us, he yelled that "we need to move these dumba** vehicles out NOW!" Trying to stay calm we just said ok and begin to move our vehicles. Than he just starts flipping out. we ask where to park our cars and he just yells at us even more. Extremely bad place, recommend never coming here tell the owner retires. He should not be able to work here. The place is nice but the owner is terrible. Not even worth one star. read more

I am not much of a camper I would say. However, this past summer I had the chance to spend time camping in KOA's across the west on the way to Minnesota and get acclimated to that lifestyle again. We stayed at five KOA's overall and I would have to say this one was the best. We actually stayed here twice. Going to and returning from the Twin Cities. The staff were professional and courteous. We just had a tent and the tent sites were located conveniently next to the pool and restrooms on a patch of grass. This was especially comforting on the return trip where the daytime temperature was 106 degrees F for most of the day and the temperature did not dip below 90 degrees until after 8pm. It almost felt like we weren't camping not having to hike to take a shower or use the restroom. We just had to walk twenty feet or less. The restrooms were very clean along with the showers. They were individual use, that is not gender specific which was interesting but was also a good arrangement knowing you would have privacy. The only issue was that taking a shower it was clear that the water was drawn from a well and I think some people were taking long showers before us which made us a bit anxious. The general store was fully stocked with snacks, drinks and souvenirs. They even had a kitchen where they cooked and then would deliver pizzas on their golf cart. It was a cheap thrill to order pizza and have it delivered to the campsite. Although this KOA was within a mile of Interstate 80 it was the most quiet of any of the KOAs we stayed at this summer. Perhaps the corn fields absorbed some of the noise. The locals did seem to drive very fast down a gravel road on the other side of the campground. Don't know what influenced them to do this but I only observed a few instances of this. If you are making the drive along Interstate 80 in Central Nebraska I would highly recommend you give this KOA a try. It was a fun summer camping experience for a California road tripper like myself. read more

This campground has a new area that has absolutely no shade! When we arrived it was 97 degrees! Our motor home was in the full sun. Stayed that way until the sun set at 9:00. Inside we could not get the temperature below 87 degrees! Amazingly they hadn't even planted any trees in the new area! Not even trying! Just want to charge for an unacceptable campsite! This is a fantastic campground! The staff makes you feel very welcome and if there are any questions they are more then happy to assist you. The campground itself is very well kept, clean and organized. They have pizza delivery right to your campsites! There is a nice playground for the kids, a fenced in area for the dogs to 'run off steam', a swimming pool , a restaurant, it is a nice place to kick back and relax with the family. This is just a great place to stay! read more

The man on the golf cart is very rude. we payed to rent a cabin with a grill and then a friend had a camper pull in slot reserved where our vehicles were parked and then demanded to move by the man in the golf cart. Don't get me wrong ladies in the office were very nice and so polite. But very disrespectful man on the golf cart. read more

I had a tent site right next to the bathrooms--literally about 15 feet away. I loved it! It was so nice to just step over and have the showers right there. I had my dog with me and I kept him in the car while I was in the shower. It was great being able to be so close to him. Nice people who work there. Lots of grass! read more

This place is over priced for the tiny bit of space you get. They pack you in like sardines. I think there may be 4-6 feet between pads & tents are right on top of each other. The website says free cable & wi-fi but the wi-if is too week to work & all the cable boxes are locked down to prevent access. The staff is rude, driving around on their little golf cart yelling at you for the tiniest infraction. You can't put out a mat because it may kill the grass, there are no fire pits at each pad, you can't pick your spot, they close the bathrooms for 3 hours each day, & the regulate your guests so they can't just come by to hang out for a couple hours. We won't be back. At $60 a night which is twice what we normally pay I would expect more. read more

We reserved space at this KIA for four days many months ago, which was the right thing to do since they had full occupancy for the entire two weeks of the Nebraska State Fair. The office was clean and offered a variety of local wine, which was decent. The staff was friendly as well. The RV spaces are relatively close. Most spaces had shade trees that added shade but that also deposited a huge amount of sap on our truck and RV. There are doves everywhere in the trees, which adds to the relaxing atmosphere. And in the evening, the frogs come out just enough that you can enjoy them. The rural surroundings are very nice and appreciated as sonny KOA locations have become surrounded by industrial parks and sites over the years. Easy access to I-80 is also a plus. The pool was clean except on the Sunday we visited it. The night before was heavy use and even on Sunday afternoon, no one had been in the area to check on or clean it. Remnants from the night before, including hair clips, trash, and what looked like smash fruit on the deck were still present. I wondered if the chemical levels had even been checked after such high usage. There exists a cafe in site that was definitely not being used although a sign on the back soot had hours of dinner operations and menus. Likewise, the game room in the same building was also not open. The staff was friendly and capable read more

We have been to several KOAs and this is hands down the worse one. Incredibly small sites even by KOA standards. We couldn't even get our awning out without it hitting the motorhome next to us. The staff was rude. You walk out your camper door and have to step over your neighbors. The pool was was cold on July 4! Will definately not be back. read more

Ok, so... I don't usually complain, but this place stinks. LITERALLY. We showed up kind of late, at 9:30 pm. Everything was perfect, the place is clean and well kept, great place to set up your tent. The down side is, as soon as it turned 11:00 pm (we were cooking dinner and just had dinner), it suddenly smelled like a slaughter house for cows. It was unbearable! We threw on More wood but can still smell it. It stopped, but it comes in increments. If you cannot stand the smell of rotting cow flesh in waves- this is not the place for you. I recommend getting a room or something. I doubt the cabins here would filter the smell out unless you were drunk passed out to where you couldn't smell a cow's carcass. read more

As we arrived to the campground we pulled up behind one RV who was already inside checking in. The check-in process got a snag when they owed us a refund which caused an issue at the register. (Had to wait for the owner). This was fine as things happen and we patiently waited as unit after unit (5) checked in and moved on. We were also met by a man on a golf cart who insisted multiple times we had to be going to site 15 because site 16 was a supremo site and was much more expensive....even though I told him multiple times our reservation (made a month before) was confirmed for site 16. His comments seemed to me to be based on the fact that we were in a rental RV. However, he was incorrect and we were kindly lead to our "supremo" site once the register situation was resolved. Having traveled for 13 days we had 6 loads of laundry we were anxious to do right away so as soon as we arrived at the site we loaded up the laundry and headed to the 24/7 advertised laundry facility. We arrived to empty washers which was great and the loads washed within 27 mins each! There was no change machine so I took 2 trips into the store to get change. Then everything took a turn. We used...or tried to use all the available dryers. After putting in $3 each in 2 of the 4 dryers we noticed that they weren't working at all! At first we assumed that the clothes being towels and jeans they would take 2-3 cycles to dry due to the heavy fabrics however, after putting all that $ in and then opening the units you could see they never even turned! So I went into the office to get help. The very nice cashier was not able to start the units either so she then got a guy to come help (same guy who commented about the site prior). His first comment in front of us was, "we've never had issues before". I'm sorry but you do now! Finally, a woman with keys to the units and painted quarters was called to try to help us. She came in and put her quarters in and the units started! Why? I have no clue. Did they work for me NO, did they work for her cashier? NO, did they work for the guy, NO! Did she offer to refund my now $9 wasted! NO!!! Finally, it was working so although frustrated I thought ok at least they work now and we can move on. Well, I was wrong! We were in that laundry room for 4.5 hours because the dryer closest to the washer stopped working after the office closed and to keep it running we had to stand there holding in the start button and the dryer closest to the facility door after 5 cycles still had soaking wet clothes in it and we ended up moving those the the one really good Maytag dryer. I spent $27 on 6 loads of laundry!!!!! Appalling! Frustrated because it cost so much because the units weren't working properly, because it took 4.5 hours, and because now we missed our whole nice fireside evening on our supremo site doing laundry we went back to our camper and went to bed deciding we would just get up and cook breakfast on the grill provided on our site and then leave (because we only were there one night). We all got up the next morning and took our showers in very nice facilities. Really the campground and the showers/bathrooms were really great! And honestly the girls in the office were so nice! I prepared to make breakfast.....tried to light the grill provided and guess what!!! NO PROPANE!!! If I was going to be there longer or had I had an opportunity to be on my site the night before I would have just went down to the store and told them (even though this amenity was offered with the site and should be checked prior to the arrival of a guest), but at this point I was so frustrated by our entire experience! Later, the male owner stopped by and talked to my mom asking how our visit was and she explained all the issues. He said to go to the office and talk to Jill. However, I believe she was the one who helped me with the dryers and didn't even offer to rectify $ spent on the non working units! So needless to say we didn't bother! He did take the propane tank and fill it, but it was too late because we had already moved onto a different plan as we were leaving soon and didn't have the time to wait. He did explain that they haven't owned the KOA long however, my opinion is that having a nice facility with amenities is great but, if you don't correct service issues for customers better than you are doing currently then it won't matter! My experience overall was not great! read more

The owners of this KOA are awesome! We had an awning on our RV tear do to the high winds. Ron helped us take the awning down in the pouring rain so we could continue our journey. They have a nice little shop in the office and offer yummy Hunt Bros pizza. Their staff delivers your pizza to your RV on a golf cart in all weather :) This place sets a new standard for family friendly RV parks! Thank you so much for all your help! read more

As far as road trip pit stops go this one was great. I feel like you an always tell what the camp will be like by the store/check-in (and this store was cute and clean with useful items). Cabin was super clean (much cleaner than the one we stayed in at Gothenburg). Good playground and close to a town for things you might need. Glad we stayed. read more

This campground was just off a paved road and although convenient to the highway, it was not on a busy traffic route. The evening we arrived, they were offering a home cooked meal in the snack bar which was a welcome diversion for us. The bathrooms were clean and water temperature adjustable. We arrived in rainy weather so I didn't try the pool but the dog park was nice. I also appreciated the fact that there were emergency procedures in place to warn campers of a need to take shelter. read more

Not in Grand Island! It's in Doniphan. Would be a better place to stay if anyone would deliver to here. Nice and clean. Not very welcoming. Was reprimanded when we arrived by not filling out a overnight sheet that I could not find. There was NO one there and she was trying to make me park as far as possible to the dog park and the kids playground when I have three small kids and 4 dogs. We had to beg her to park near there.
