The Park is situated in an oceanfront maritime forest with a beautiful beach and stunning oceans views from its free fishing pier. The park offers boardwalks to easily reach the beach as well as outdoor showers to rinse off, there are plenty of bathrooms and changing facilities just a short walk from the beach. With a mile of beach it has six cabins available to rent just several hundred yards from the beach, for those that enjoy camping there are 278 campsites nestled under the towering trees, 138 of them have full-hookups (water, electricity & sewer), there are also 30 designated, seasonal tent sites. There are 2 hiking trails available in the park, both the Sculptured Oak and Yaupon trails lead to the beach. There are 2 gift shops to do all your souvenir shopping or pick up last minute supplies for camping or fishing. There are seven picnic shelters for group gatherings, reunions, etc. The Park has an incredible nature center with programs for kids of all ages. Programs and Guided Tours include fun, engaging and educational programs on a variety of topics and are offered year round to raise awareness about the natural resources of the park. Pets are not allowed on the beaches from 10am until 5pm (7 days a week) May 1 through Labor Day, Bikes are also not allowed on the beach during the same time periods as pets.

This visit we've seen lots of alligators, including a baby, yellow, bellied slider turtles, lots of osprey, starting to raise their young and some beautiful plant life as well as the lore that goes with both the ICW, the rivers and all that goes on there. We always take visitors here. However, it's a place for locals to go over and over again. It's one of my favorite ways to relax and spend some time on the water. We decided on the yellow and blue trail in waccamaw wildlife refuge. Reviews i had read from other sources stated that they had seen lots of wildlife over off this trail. The trail was pretty secluded and felt set back away from everything. There were so many trees! Absolutely loved it! We walked on a blanket of pine needles for a good chunk of the trail and then on a boardwalk for part of the trail. Saw lots of spider webs, some caterpillars, lots of lizards, some birds, and then a squirrel. The trail was quiet on a friday morning, we only saw a handful of people. It was a lovely stroll in nature and one of the highlights of the trip. It definitely made me want to come back to south carolina to come and explore with some friends and really go and see more of the beauty!

It is being held November 23-December 30 from 5:30-9:30 except on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Unfortunately, there was a dreadful crawl, one hour to be exact, to get through two traffic lights before reaching the park. The admittance fee is $20 per vehicle. The lights were pretty decent, the best one were the ones that were synced to music such as the trees. At the end, you have the option to exit the park or visit Santa's Village. My nieces wanted to do the latter. We purchased smores and hot chocolate which they enjoyed. There was also a toy shop, petting zoo, and Santa Express train ride. A fun and enjoyable experience for young children. If the park could better manage the bottleneck, it would make a more enjoyable experience for adults too.

It's truly an Americana town with so much history dating as far back to the 1732 British settlement. We took a lovely stroll on the Riverwalk and soaked in the scenery. Saw many different types of boats coming thru on the water as the trailhead is right there. Boaters can even dock, do lunch or simply just walk around town. Few people were fishing, and many families were enjoying the fully fenced in playground. A local hot spot right on the edge of the riverwalk is a place called Chanti's Pizza, it's a popular local restaurant that caters to many homeowners, as well as great reviews by numerous visitors that come to town too! Would be a perfect place to dine if spending some time here and wanting to have lunch or dinner on the water. It's truly an iconic boardwalk trail (approximately 1.5-mile of a scenic pathway) along Waccamaw River that goes under the US-501 bridge and over some extremely old railroad tracks. Stunning views of the river and an abundance of Spanish moss draping the trees. Definitely a must do if you are near this community or while traveling on vacation just as we were.

Best of all, it's free. In October, definitely come back for the Halloween town when the trees are decorated with hanging pumpkins and there are spooky displays everywhere. The calendar features events like movie nights, food trucks, and the scare factory.
