Well, Grand point did it, Early this spring I bought big ass trolling Moter, The Garmin Kraken it's a beast and its new to the market, I live in Howell, after a month or 2 of fucking around with my local Yamaha dealer I came to realize they were incompetent. Soo, I tied another dealer, and they were afraid of it because they had never mounted such a Moter, and they weren't a Yamaha dealer. I expanded my search and found Grand Point marina, let me tell you what, these guys are phenomenal, absolutely wonderful They ordered a bracket with no questions asked, when it came in, they shared photos with me to confirm it was the correct one. I took the boat in, and they didn't lie they had never seen this trolling motor before, but they were confident they could meet the challenge, and man did they. I could not have asked for cleaner install; it is pretty damn perfect. I live 40 minutes away I won't take my boat Anyware else these guys are stuck with me. Put a $500 deposit on a boat pending wife approval, she vetoed the sale and they kept my "100% refundable" deposit. After numerous attempts and broken promises I'm still out $500. Call it bait and switch or plain old theft the result is the same; my $500 is in someone else's pocket. There is no shortage of other marinas that deserve your patronage. read more

I would strongly recommend steering clear of this company mostly because they have a 'tail lights' warranty. I bought a new Ranger & have had nothing but issues with Grand Pointe Marina standing behind their workmanship & mistakes. It has been 2 years & things have are still not working properly & I cannot even get people to respond. Employees were nice & tried to help but they are not supported by the higher ups to stand by their work/product. I called and called & emailed & emailed and got no response from the 'family' members / ownership. I recently ended up having to take the boat to a completely different shop & pay thousands for repairs of items they did incorrectly. Another issue was that they gave me the wrong transducer than what we discussed & agreed to which cost me nearly $2k to replace or I just deal with the inferior product they gave me. I am not one to complain about companies unless it is 100% warranted... and most importantly I don't want anybody else to have to get screwed again like this. BUYER BEWARE read more

Our 1 star is based on sales and being shady not the service department. We just bought a boat from Grand Pointe. We drove 12 hours to get it as this was the closest available. The service guys were super nice at pick up, however Scott my sales guy seems to be behind on knowing what is needed. Scott also "forgot" to include some charges on our buyers agreement and then made us pay them after. (This was even after giving the $5000 deposit.) I was livid with this. It's their mistake they should have comped it. At pick up we did notice a few gashes in the motor cover and they did swap them out for us. Now after driving back home we realize that the motor should be an XS Pro which is the lowest standard one on a 210s and and they gave us a regular one. So when we called Scott to inquire about it they said that they had to swap it out because the other one is back ordered but they never bothered to tell us about it and they gave us a lower level motor for the same price. Scott said "well this is as low of price we can go with this motor" but the price is the standard XS price not regular 150. Now we're trying to work it out with Tahoe to see if anything can be done because as of this point right now this is shitty service and a disgrace. read more

Don't trust this place. I gave a deposit on a boat that was supposedly coming in but later they told me that the order was cancel with the factory. Been working to get our deposit back for months. The sales guy said that our folder is sitting on the Chris, supposedly the owners, desk waiting for him to to approve the return of the deposit. read more

I'm giving GPM 5 stars based on the 2 times I've taken boats to them for repairs. First experience concerned the the 150 hp Merc on a pleasure boat that needed a new water pump. The repair took less time than i thought it would and the cost was reasonable, based on such a repair i had done on a similar motor. The mechanic, who had done the repair came out as i was paying for the work and told me of a couple other things he had checked out. I appreciated that. Second job i needed done was a steering cable on a bass boat. Again, even though it was spring time, and there were many boats in there needing work, the job was done as promptly as i think possible. Again, i found the price reasonable. Both times the boats were given back to me in good condition. read more

We have been using GPR for maintenance, repair and storage on seven different watercraft, from jet ski to 24' Yamaha twin-jet for the last six or seven years. Our experience has been exceptional: Good service, great communication, friendly staff, useful advice, and more. We have used both indoor and outdoor winter storage, with no issues what-so-ever. I brought my boat here for a one day repair. I was told prior to bringing my boat in that it would take two weeks which I thought was reasonable. I have now been waiting 5 weeks for my boat. Each time I call I am told that "New boats are priority over used repairs", "I cant tell you when we will get to it", "You can come get your boat if you want", "That is just the way it is". Look I am sorry, but if someone tells me that anywhere, I am frustrated. I want to go fishing as much as the next guy, and all I can be told is "That is just the way it is". These guys did horrible work on my boat. Came to pick it up and the inside of the boat was disgusting. Dirt everywhere, a boot print on the seat, leaves, twigs.... it had a cover when it came in!! When I called the management, I was essentially told to take a long walk off a short cliff. All I wanted was the cost covered to get it cleaned. Currently in the process of filing complaints with the state and BBB. I would recommend going elsewhere. read more

My cleaning was awful (had to clean again myself). Boat wasn't ready when I drove 1.5 hours to pick it up (they brought the wrong boat back from storage). Was told I was there the wrong day the next year when I went to pick it up (and I am 100% sure I was there on the proper date). That same year they left the battery out of the boat (that they were trick charging) and didn't find out until later in the month when we went to use it. Drove 1.5 hours there and 1.5 hours back to get batteries. Awful experiences. Once I earn the added warranty years from taking my Regal for service at an "authorized" dealer/service center, I will not be returning. All the while I was made to feel like I was the one that was in the wrong. read more

I bought a boat from Grand Pointe in December of 2019. I was told it was the owners boat at one time and was well maintained. I brought it home to OHIO a month or so ago. I was told the boat was checked out and ready to launch. When I tried to start it, the batteries were dead. Not a big deal, I put them on a charger over night. They would not take a charge. Turns out one battery was 5 years old and the other battery was 10 years old. Not quite what you would expect from a reputable dealership. I rolled with the punches and bought new batteries. The boat was very hard to start and I figured it had been sitting for a while. When I launched it, it didn't go faster than 5 mph at full throttle. Turns out it had a bad sensor in it that controls spark. This boat was not capable of running right. I fix the sensor and the boat is tested again, still doesn't run beyond 5 mph and is bogging down. Turns out the carburetor is bad. I understand I bought a 27 year old boat and if it would have failed after a couple of weeks of use, I would have chocked it up to it's age and moved on. This boat was sold to me not capable of running at all. Again, not what you would expect from a reputable dealership. They claimed to have checked it out but I don't see how since the boat was not capable of running right due to all the failed components. You expect that when you buy a boat from a dealership like Grand Pointe regardless of it's age that it is at least seaworthy at the time of purchase and that you have limited your risk somewhat when buying a used boat. Man do I wish you could rate a business zero stars. We regrettably did not check reviews before visiting Grand Pointe Marina, a mistake we will not make again. Scott was by far one of the most ill-informed salesmen we've ever dealt with. We came in looking for a specific boat, and it took Scott 30 minutes to realize it was at the other location. Then asked for a deposit before we even thought about going to see the boat. We weren't even sure we wanted it yet. Long story short we found a different boat we were interested in. Asked if it was possible to switch out the tachometer with a tach/hour meter combo, that didn't seem possible according to scott. Anyways a week of "prep time" later we pick the boat up with water soaked carpet, aluminum shavings in all of the compartments. We were just ready to be done with this place. And now we're fighting the legendary boat show they're so interested in before we can get our registration. Will never even consider recommending this place to anyone. read more

A follow up on my boat repair.. It turns out I needed a new fuel pump on the motor. Yes the top cylinder had low compression by only 20 # from the lower one. not enough to cause a problem. The engine works and runs fine. If anyone is interested I took it a marine mechanic in Ithica Mi. And a whole lot cheaper than what Grand Pointe wanted. read more

This is my very disappointing Grand Pointe Marina story. Went to the Detroit Boat Show Feb. 2019 to look at a new Ranger boat. Met with salesman Marcel from GPM and discussed a few options. Told him I have a 2007 Ranger Angler. Gave him my cell phone number. I contacted Marcel a few days later expressing interest in a new Angler 1850. He called back and offered the Angler 1880 MS. Said they had one in inventory. Asked him the price, he said $40,455.44. I told him sounded good. He requested a $4000 deposit which I put on my credit card. Texted him four days later, as I'd not heard from him, to ask when the transaction would take place. He called and we talked financing through GPM with REC. Spoke with Cody from REC to discuss numbers. He said after my trade-in, I would owe $25,750.44. I decided to pay $5,750 cash and finance $20,000 over 10 years at a rate of 4.79%, payment $210 monthly. I thought GREAT, done deal! When I went to their Sterling Heights office to sign the papers with Marcel and Chris (the owner), the contract showed the boat price was $51,000! I told them that was not the boat price that Marcel had quoted me on the phone. We went back and forth and they said the $40,455.44 was the price of the boat AFTER my trade-in. Bullshit! I never heard that $51,000 was the price of the new boat from Marcel, not once! Chris apologized for his salesman if they had misinformed me in any way. He then tried to renegotiate the price very slightly, which I declined, then offered me an aluminum boat in my price range, which I also declined. In my disgust, I walked out. Buy your boat someplace else. Do not buy from BAIT & SWITCH GPA, Sterling Heights. Famous last words from salesman Marcel "I'm the most honest guy you'll ever meet". read more

I purchased a boat from Grande Pointe Marina in January and they made it easy and painless. That is up to the point they received the check from the bank. After that it was one excuse after the next. The boat was delivered and we noticed that the inside was dirty with lots of dust and two gouges in the gel coat where the bimini bolts dug in. Meanwhile we were waiting for the title, plates, stickers etc. After a month I contacted the dealership and was told they were swamped with the boat show and to check back next week. The following week I finally got in touch with my salesman and he promised the proper paperwork and cover would be shipped to me shortly. Got the title and noticed that they never put a lien holder on it. Kind of important as the bank needs a copy of it for records and to prove it's a secured loan. Contacted the salesman again and was told that because I didn't use Grand Pointe for financing it was my responsibility to get it put on there. Not true. Spoke with the sales manager and he said he would fix that if we sent the title back to him. At this point it has been over two months after purchasing this boat and I am still waiting on the cover and correct title. I would have thought that Grand Pointe would have done anything in their power to make sure I was a happy customer, which is why I gave the sales manager Chris a call before I posted this review. After telling him that I was displeased with the service I received he became testy. He restated my concerns by telling me they were unimportant and minor. Chris enlightened me to the fact that there is ice still on the river so getting all this stuff done isn't really a priority. Upon pressing him further he shifted onto not being staffed and busy with boat shows. Completely the opposite of what I expected. Chris took no accountability. At no point did the conversation focus on what needed to happen to make me happy with this purchase, let alone an attempt to win my trust again. Any service, parts, accessories, or future boat purchase will not be from this dealership. While I cannot recommend another dealer, I can recommend not going here! read more

WARNING DONT GO HERE!!! Made an appointment for my boat at this awful marina. They had my boat for over 65 days to winterize it and do some simple warranty work, even though I had an appointment. After getting my boat back, it looked as if it was in the hands of your worst enemy. It was damaged and filthy. A total disappointment. They never return calls . The service department had our boat ready on time and took us for a test run. We bought things we needed in the parts department and ordered the items that were not in stock. My wife and I got the coldest shoulder possible from Grand Pointe Marina. Bought a new Tracker boat and their attitude was to get us out of there. No handshakes, no welcome to the dealership, no enjoy your new boat. The salesman didn't even know what the warranty was on this boat. We asked him, he asked another guy in the showroom and all we got was a grunt. If you want to buy a boat at a dealership that makes you feel welcome - don't bother with Grand Pointe. By far one of the worst dealership experiences I've ever had! Save the hassel on go elsewhere! The following will detail all the issues I had with Grande Pointe Marina. I happened across an ad on Boattrader.com for a 2014 Tahoe Q5i SF offered by Grand Pointe. I was torn between this boat and a 2015 model at my local Bass Pro. The ad stated the dealer had added snap-in carpet, tilt steering, a fish finder, a mooring cover, and trailer brakes. With all this extra stuff I was interested in the boat, despite you being located an hour and a half from my home. I spoke with their salesman, Doug, and we worked out a deal for all this plus a Bimini top with installation. Everything sounded great and I was glad to work out a deal. After a deal was reached and financing was secured, Doug informed me it would take about a week to get the Bimini and install it on the boat. Throughout the week, I emailed Doug frequently to check the progress. I informed him I wanted everything ready before I drive the distance up to the Sterling Heights location. I also requested to pick the boat up on Friday, June 19th, but he said it wouldn't be ready until Saturday, the 20th. Finally, on the 20th we made the long trip up to sign documents and pickup the boat. When we got to the store, Doug showed us the boat. Right away I noticed the bimini had not been installed as agreed, even though I was told everything was ready. On top of that, the snap-in carpet and mooring cover were also missing and the center bow cushion had rust stains on it. I was very disappointed and upset that I had been mislead. However, Doug assured me that he would take care of everything so we continued with our purchase. After everything was done we headed for home, only to realize he had not given us our temporary tags so we had to turn around for them. Upon using the boat for the first time, we discovered the bilge pump was inoperable. Doug remedied the problem by sending me a new one, but I still had to rewire and install the part on a new boat. After several emails to Doug in the following weeks, I still hadn't received my missing parts nor my MSOs for regestering the boat. He could not give me any answers on when I would get them. With all the time that had passed, my temporaries were going to expire and I was unable to register the boat without the MSOs and sales tax refund. Doug Sent me another set of temporaries as a temporary solution. I then received a call from Rec Lending stating they wrote the contract up wrong and I needed to sign new papers and send them back. I finally asked to have a manager step in. I spoke with Rob on Monday, July 6th about all the issues. He told me he was waiting on a couple items and would contact me on Wednesday to setup an install time at my house on Friday the 10th. Wednesday came and went and I never received a call. He sent me a text on Friday to tell me the stuff still hadn't made it in. He also said he would FedEx my Bass Pro VIP card and the tax refund and I would have it by 11a.m. Monday. Over 3 weeks after I picked up the boat, I still didn't have any of the missing parts that were part of the deal, no Bass Pro VIP card, and no tax refund. There was a total lack of communication and professionalism on behalf of the dealership. Eventually, I had to work out a deal for my local Bass Pro to install all the missing items. They handled me very well and I wished I had dealt with them from the beginning. read more

Do not buy your boat here. I purchased a boat and drove 4 hours to pick it up (from Cleveland area). During the purchasing process they were very good, but once ink was on paper became difficult to even get a hold of anyone. They were supposed to have the boat detailed and ready to go upon my arrival. They were also supposed to store indoors for the winter (bought in Oct). They did neither. The boat was filthy inside and out.....but I drove 4 hours and was not about to sit around waiting for them to clean it so just brushed it off and brought it home. First time out....fuel gauge and rpm gauge don't work. $225 later find out the sender is bad and need a new RPM gauge. Also the trailer did not pull smoothly and come to find out all the rims are bent and tires of course are shot. So chalk up $600 for those fixes. This was a demo unit and was sold with all warranties as if new....in fact Regal sent me a packet as if I just purchased a new boat. They also told it was in perfect condition (boat and trailer).
