Located in East Lansing, a little bit out of town a couple of miles from where all the college students live and go to school, you will find this overpriced Sports good store attached to one of the biggest malls in the area. If you park around by it then it's not too bad to get in and out of and you don't have to go into the actual mall. The main problem with it is the pricing. Employees here are not too bad although some of them are... you know... but then you knew that because of the name of the place.

We checked in, gave up our driver's licenses, and filled out a short form. We were taken to the range door, and greeted by the Range Officer (RO). He explained the safety rules, and also explained that everyone gets the same safety instructions, even experienced LEOs. The emphasis on safety was appreciated by both of us. The range itself is fairly small, with six narrow lanes. That said, the lanes are modern and well-equipped, with a back bench for your case, jacket, targets, etc, and the shooting bench with just enough room for 2-3 hand guns and some magazines and ammo. The target holders have good strong clips, and the action of the motorized holders is smooth and quick. I should note that the maximum range distance is only 15 yards, which was fine for us, but for those who practice at longer distances, this may be an issue. The RO observed our shooting (and everyone else's) so again we felt good that safety was being monitored and maintained. He also made us feel welcome and thanked us for our visit. I feel the prices are fair: $18 for an hour. When I next visit family in the Lansing area, TFA will be on my agenda.

My wife did all the leg work, and it was a total surprise to me when we arrived at the gun shop to pick it up.They told my wife that they had cleaned it before pick up, so everything was great! NOT Great! A few days later, I got a change to shoot it and every 5th or 6th it was not feeding properly and would jam. I figured it was something small and did not worry about it. I got it home and disassemble it to clean it, and looked like this handgun had never been cleaned. From further inspection of the barrel after cleaning it, I found that there was pitting on the inside of the barrel. Forgive me if my terms are not correct since this is my first handgun, but he notch that holds the slide back was also worn down to the point that a couple of times the slide slammed closed all on its own. Luckily for me the gentlemen who helped my wife told her if there were any issues I could bring it back and exchange or return it. With all these things going on I took it back to the shop. Much to my dismay the gentlemen that help me, kept telling me all the things that could have caused these things, and kept saying "your wife did buy you a used gun!" He asked me what I wanted them to do? I asked if I could just return it (seeing as I saw the identical gun at Cabela's the day before for 50.00 more than my wife paid for it new)? He said yes, proceeded to get my money out of the register, then slammed it down on the counter and told me "don't come back!" Again, I could not believe my ears. He kept saying that my wife should have known better and "it is a used gun". Yes, it was a used gun, but his job should have been to make my wife an informed buyer, since she was trying to do a nice things for me. They did not offer to exchange it for something else. All I got was, "Dont Come Back!" So, I wont, and anyone that I talk to will know what kind of business this is. I will say that the guy that I dealt with was not the guy that my wife dealt with.
