Joined their membership because the drop-in rates are highway robbery. Might as well pay monthly to shoot once in a while, especially since this place is literally down the street from my house. I've had decent days here, but also plenty of annoying ones. The final straw was their wannabe range master playing ATF agent. He demanded to inspect my tax stamp, suppressor, and ID to 'match it all up.' Newsflash: no federal law requires you to show your NFA paperwork to some private range clown. That's only for actual ATF officers on request. Michigan doesn't mandate it either. This isn't law enforcement. If you're running NFA gear, expect this kind of power tripping nonsense here. I cancelled my membership today. 1 star, and that's being generous. Disappointing for a supposedly pro-gun spot in Lansing. Side note, their inventory blows. read more

Just don't go to this range. Staff are unhelpful, rude, and act like they don't even want you there. Specifically an older guy who didn't respond or even look in my direction for 15 seconds after i asked for range time. The attitude of the employees there just pissed me off. Never been at a more unfriendly range. I am a paying customer and i'm not going to let you blatantly disrespect me to my face, if that is the case i'll take my business elsewhere read more

I took my CPL class here. I wasn't sure if I was going to pursue licensing, but I wanted to learn the information. All of my questions were handled with care and consideration. I was a first time shooter and the range master was kind and walked me through how to hold and shoot, even though we went over it in the classroom video portion. I passed with flying colors, even as a first time shooter. I went back yesterday to buy my first pistol. I was able to rent a gun to shoot before I purchased to make sure it was going to work well for me. The RSO showed me the different styles and let me see what the best hand feel was before I rented. I shot a Glock 19. Very beginner friendly. I shot 20 rounds and knew it was the pistol for me. The RSO didn't charge me range time because I was only there to test shoot for about 10 minutes. I walked out and told Tony what I wanted. He walked over to the wall, pulled it down, and let me hold it. We had a unique situation during the purchase, as I was born abroad, though I am a US citizen. Tony worked with the higher bosses to make sure I was able to purchase my gun. The price was more than reasonable. I purchased a year long membership that includes store discounts and unlimited range time. I am looking forward to going weekly to improve my accuracy. All around 10/10 GREAT experience, knowledgeable staff, and there was no upselling or trying to get me to buy things I didn't need. read more

Terrible customer service. Brought my wife and son to put some rounds down range, as she was thoughtful enough to give me free range time and ammo for valentines. What a wife. Standing at the range check in for a few minutes while Ranger Bob weighs spent brass, he doesn't glance up at us the entire time; he finally sends us to the right side range that is unoccupied. We walk in to a full furnace blast heat wave to the face, reminding me of stepping off the plane in Kuwait for the first time. I contemplate stripping down to my silkies, but my wife, sweat already dripping from her brow, calms me by saying she's going to go ask to be moved to the other range as the heat is so unbearable. She comes back in saying the guy was rude to her and said that it wasn't the heat but the air purifier, but went to see if he could find us a spot on the other range. Yes the one that had only one other shooter when we were tricked in to entering the Mojave room. As I'm carrying my weapons and ammo over to the other range room, enjoying the cool breeze of a normal temperature regulated space, I mention to Ranger Bob how hot the other room is in a jokingly way; my attempt to ease the tension. He snaps back at me, saying "What are you, an HVAC technician?". Things went downhill from here. I'm generally a nice guy, but when you're rude to my wife, a sarcastic asshole to me, and are completely terrible at customer service, that's where I draw the line. Long story long, I won't be going back to Range 517 or recommending it for anyone else, unless I severely dislike them. read more

I DO NOT RECOMMEND TAKING YOUR CPL CLASS HERE. Per law the class is suppose to be 5 hours class teaching and 3 hours hands on. Yet, our class sat through a SLIDE SHOW, for 7 hours with no instructor present. someone was there the first 25 mins to introduce the class and get the slide show set up then after that we saw no one. I had to ask an employee how they were going to get us out on time with an hour left and none of us had even been to the range for any hands on training. I was informed our instructor who we hadn't met, was in his office doing work.... when he came down to chat with me, he said we would be on the range for maybe 10 mins tops, he said the slide show included on the course training. class was suppose to be out at 6:15, he came to get the first group at 6, we shot 30 rounds and were told to pick up our certificate at the front desk. the slide show was repetitive and talked about the same topic over and over. as someone who is fairly new with guns and looking for a little more hands on training and help I thought I'd get that here and time with the gun on the range. Be careful with this Store!!! From my experience they do not follow up on things. I ordered the wrong item. The girl told me a lot of people do this, Don't worry we'll just return it for you. That's been about 2 months ago. Still no money but.....I have had 3 texts letting me know my order is ready for pickup. Each time, I call and explain to "them" what has happened. They promise that they would return the item, and get my refund. Today is January 17th, I got the same text, saying my order ready for pick up! What? You mean you haven't even started the return yet? It's been almost 2 months! Soooo....I asked for a manager. Got a young girl, she said, "just disregard those text". So I asked, do I also disregard the refund? Long story short. I still don't have my refund, when I called today they blew a whole lot of smoke up my ass! They will (supposedly) return the money today. I bet it's not there. If you "can" do it that fast now, why wasn't it done long before now?? read more

So I had a great range day that was long overdue this Saturday. I had an itch so I looked around a bit after I left the range. Found a really attractive Zastava zpap m70. An older gentleman came over to help me in no time at all. This guy was pretty cool. Had the vibes of a Viet Nam vet. Long story short. I picked the rifle I wanted and waited to be rung up. It took a while but it was ok. I get home and looked the rifle over a bit more.... turns out the guy broke the rifle down and lubed it for me! I thought that was awesome. Every time I go there they are welcoming and knowledgeable. I hate talking to people that seem cranky or act like you don't have money to purchase so they show no interest in good customer service when you're trying to pick out the next gun you want. Way overpriced and the staff is consistently rude every time I have a weapon transfer. They don't even look at you when they speak to you just don't even seem to care for your business not to mention they have limited equipment and can't even put sights on your pistol. There is a wonderful arms dealer in Charlotte that can do everything and more at a much more reasonable price. Not sure what the attitudes are about but I suggest finding customer courtesy elsewhere. read more

Had a private lesson with Jason and it was phenomenal! We covered proper handling techniques, stance, real life examples, and of course safety! When in the range, we started by practicing stance and aim. He had multiple challenges for us to try different things and ultimately find/practice what's most comfortable for us. We asked a lot of questions and he took the time to go in detail about each answer. Plus, he made it fun! I am excited to go back to continue learning and getting better! Gotta sell a kidney if you want to buy any toys here. Used gun prices cost more than the same gun new. Don't get me wrong, I understand where prices are right now but this review covers opening day until now. It's a nice place but believe me when I tell you that you're gonna pay for the experience, or lack there of rather. The staff is not knowledgeable at all!!! They're just a bunch of used car salesman that don't know the difference between a selector switch and their asshole. They'd sell you their asshole if you didn't know what it was. Visited to chk out new gun range and firearm store. Was especially curious due to many neg reviews. The sales area is large and clean. Restrooms were clean. Firearms and ammo supplies are modest; but reasonably adequate. Especially in the current climate of extreme demand for products. I was greeted rite away. And was offered help as I looked around. The range is 25 yrds. Was told rifles can be used. Not very busy in a mid-afternoon. There were a few shooters at $20/hr. Chkd some prices. Saw some Colt AR15 rifles at abt $1,000. Saw some Hornady 9mm critical duty self-defense ammo for abt $43. So abt $2 plus per round. I haven't bought any sd ammo for abt 2 yrs. Buy on sale and stock up. I think sd 9mm ammo is normally abt $1.25 to 1.50. Chkd online with several of my suppliers. Many were sold out. I found 1 supplier of Hornady critical duty for abt $1.40/round plus shipping. I normally buy practice 9mm for abt $.20/round. I can't find any. But have stocked up before pandemic. I bought an American made hunting rifle recently from Idaho. I could not find it anywhere else. I paid abt 20% more than pricing from earlier in the yr. The rifle had been reasonably available b4 pandemic. Nat'l demand has caused shortages of ammo and firearms. Ppl are concerned for their safety. Self-defense ammo is probably impossible to find in Seattle, Portland, and Milwaukee. read more
