Totally negative review. Can't trust Grand Victoria Casino. Was taken advantage of by dealer at ultimate Texas Holden table. Dealer put 4 threes on the table and told me that I could not use them because they belonged to the house and there was no way that I could win so I should fold my hand so I did just to find out later that I could use the 4 threes and would have won the hand. Contacted the casino and was told that they were not going to do anything about that. It seems like Grand Victoria is on a path to improving the overall experience in gambling. They have added a bunch more slot machines when you initially walk in, something that was once dead space and felt like you were walking into the abyss of losing money. It now feels brighter and a little more lively. They've also moved the customer service desk and it's no longer hidden by slot machines, but it is weirdly placed behind the elevator. I don't think there was anything in this space previously. I wish there were better food options here - the fast casual option is just ok.. I honestly would not pay to eat here again, the prices do not justify, especially after gambling for a few hours. The slots have drastically improved in the last few months, way more of the new machines instead of those poor slots that were on their last leg. There are the occasional machines that have a sticky button or a chair that has seen better days, but overall, I think this place is on an upwards swing. read more

This used to be a decent place, but time was not good to the old barge. The buffet is long gone and never coming back. Its too bad, because it was an excellent buffet (for a casino). The slot payouts are terrible. The vast majority of machines are the ones that only pay back something during the 'free games' or 'bonus round.' If you want to step outside for a breath of fresh air, there are several exits allowing you to check out the river. Look past the decking and the railings, though. They are bombarded with pigeon poo. It's disgusting. The ladies working the rewards desk and in the lounge are absolute sweethearts. The female bartenders are nice, but the guys need a little polishing. The employees working at the pizza place need a serious attitude adjustment- all of them! From the cashier to the cook. There is an infectious toxicity behind the counter and every one of them feels as if they are doing you a favor by taking your money and providing you with a mediocre product. This place used to be great. Went there last night, on a Wednesday evening. Waited over an hour to get on the craps table. The first manager Tod (yes, with one 'd') was great and extremely nice. Finally got me a spot. Then once I got there I had a friend next to me and they told me I couldn't be on the table with him standing next to me. The manager Jason was so rude. Get your shit together guys and put a system in place that works. Don't make people wait an hour to get on a table and instead of calling their names out like Marco Polo when their turn is ready, use a texting system or something to let players know their spot is ready. Also my friend got yelled at a few times for not having his mask on his nose, yet they were not sanitizing ANY machines in the place. I was on one slot for about a half hour and the spot next to me had about 3 people use it without it getting sanitized at all in between. In conclusion: 1. Fire the manager Jason 2. Close to my house but prefer michigan casino 4 winds. Didn't go here for two weeks and the tiny free play they give for being a diamond plus was cut in half. No incentive to go here, 4 winds give me $160 a week to play and free suites to stay and comps for dinner. Here they give me $30 now down to $15. Really what is the point. You cannot walk through an aisle without pumping into chairs or people. Even if no one is sitting in a row of machines! Too claustrophobic for me. Also, no one asked if we wanted anything to drink. And I could not find a soda machine or spot to get some water. My players card never registered. Every time I put the card in the machine, registered red, not green. I've read reviews stating that it smells bad and the carpet is dirty. I disagree. The casino is clean and does not smell. Most of the staff is very friendly. The bartenders are great! Came here for a wedding. Ceremony was in an odd location, outside along a narrow strip on the 2nd floor alongside the Fox River....which was actually pretty neat in a way. The most rude and meanest dealers I have ever witnessed in my life. The dealers talked to EVERYONE like they were scum no matter the amount of money you were playing with it was disgusting . Not one dealer gave a smile the whole night I was there. It felt like a prison yard. Have been to Casino many times and found it fun. Past weekend had a weird experience. I only play slots and while walking around spotted a large denomination chip laying on the floor. Looked around for any security and not seeing anybody went to a blackjack table where dealer had no players. I told her there was a large denomination chip on the floor and pointed in its direction. She looked at me and said I should just go pick it up. As I turned, she yelled the name of a player at table near the chip and told him to grab it. I was so surprised by her actions I did not know what to say. No it was not my money and I felt that chip was casino property and I should point it out to an employee. Stopped in to play some roulette. Didn't plan on staying long as I had a doctors appt . Got to the table,stood at the end as it was full, began to bet, placed some chips in front of the dealer and said" double zero please", continued to bet. He spun the ball without placing my chips on 00 and I said double zero pLease" thinking maybe he didn't hear me. He pointed and said it's right there, and hesitated, then placed the chips. None of this would have be been an issue, except that recently I had some surgery done on my knee, and can't bend/twist it certain ways . My Lady was talking about this casino to me and how big it is from the outside, but we both never have been there before. despite seeing the low star rating, I was still for going and seeing how it was. So we made it a date night, my Lady took me out to dinner at the Indulge for there Maine Event Lobster Feast. And then I treated her to different games of slots that night for fun. So starting my review for Indulge Buffet: The staff at the Indulge in my opinion way better than other places I have been too. From seating us, to clearing our table, to explaining different dishes to us if we had a question. I have to say the staff in my book was awesome. The food on the other hand, was a hit or miss I think. The Lobster tails were great, it has been a long time since I had seafood, and I have to say they were great. My Lady and I started off with salad, then worked on tasting little here and there and that is where the hit or miss hit. So the sushi, I am unsure if the buffet has there own sushi chef or not, but the sushi was ok for buffet sushi, presentation was there, just some either fell apart easy(was not rolled tight enough), or one piece may have tasted ok the other was not. So it may depend how long they sit out on the tray before a person takes one or two to eat. The crab cakes were too salty, and had a fishy taste to them, so depending on if they are stored(frozen) or if gotten fresh, the ingredients need to be check to make sure they are actually fresh and then someone may need to lay off on the salt a bit. I tried the tortellini and she tried a ravioli, we honestly did not care for it, because for starters it would been better warm than cold, as both ours were cold, and her ravioli was hard to cut, I have never seen pasta like that before. But the flavor was more bland with the tortellini, and as we were going by one the staff members, unsure if chefs was loading most the pasta dishes with a lot of cheese. Now I did happen to see they had a station at the buffet if you wanted a certain type of Asian dish, the chef would stir fry it r make it for you, we did not try that, but it looks interesting. We did happen to both try the soup, she had a clam chowder and I had seafood style soup, both were excellent to us, we tried a little of another's and liked it. We both grabbed what we thought was garlic bread by the rolls, but seriously was not and did not taste well either. The tempura seafood I will say had some flavor, not bad, but bit spicy, as the chili flakes do not always show. The calamari was awesome as well. We as well both had a slice of the beef the staff member cut for us and they were nice cuts of beef and tasted great as well. Afterwards, we had dessert, she had a cup of mocha espresso and I french vanilla and I got to say I loved the espresso. We loved most of the selections of desserts they had, but sadly because of a treenut allergy there were some I could not try like the cinnamon roll with walnuts, I wish they had some desserts with both options of no nuts and nuts, for those who can and cannot. But other than that we were happy, as there will always be a hit of miss at the buffet. Afterwards we went to sign up for a membership and play few games of slots, we both won something, but used it to play other games as yesterday was more of a play for fun day for us, see if we could win big, if not oh well, can always come back another time and try a luck again. I do not understand most of these negative reviews. This is a nice casino. I think people are just mad they didn't win. I lost $300 but I had fun. You can't get mad at how close the seats are for the slots. There are plenty of slots that are out in the open. The carpet didn't look old. Everything looked modern. The bathrooms were clean and there is a huge bathroom when you walk in. The table limits during the morning were only $5 for 3 Card and roulette. When the 3 card poker table filled up they didn't raise the limit which was nice. I hate the smell of smoke and it did not smell like smoke. Not sure where that comment came from. BUCKINGHAM RESTAURANT I'm not sure how many people know this, but there's a nice steak restaurant inside Grand Victoria. I only eat here because my friend uses her casino points. I probably wouldn't pay to eat here, as good as their food is, since I could find a nice steak place closer to me. The atmosphere is nice, very elegantly decorated. The wait staff is nice and attentive. The steak and seafood are good and I would definitely recommend using your points here if you ever get tired of the buffet next door. read more

Now that the new owners have taken over this is what has changed for me...I used to get a birthday bonus offer..Gone. I had a Casino host...Gone. Used to get an Anniversary gift voucher toward food..Gone Free food offers each month..Gone Not to mention the closure of the Buffet and the great burger restaurant that was there. I've been to Grand Victoria boat a million times. The level to which they check my Driver's License when I come to the boat always surprises me. It's always looked at so hard and so many times looking up at my face and back and forth! It's nutso. This casino is always full of a slew of interesting people. I think it's fun to come here just to people watch! I always lose money when I come here though. On my latest trip, I lost $42. :( $22 on Slot machines and $20 gone on Roulette. I usually do okay at Roulette but I didn't have the time to double my money at first by playing colors and had to go straight to numbers with a $10 min bet. Lost my money so quickly! Another friend of mine lost $20 on the slots in just a couple of minutes, but my third friend made $270 from her original $20! Amazing! My other 3 smart friends spent no money at all! GVC used to be a great place to spend the day, Not anymore. Buffet, gone., deli, gone., the restaurant to have a great lunch gone and replaced by Pizza (Yuk). Now it's no more than a big area with lots of slots. The casino used to be a place to meet friends and family and gamble. The new owners apparently have forgotten who their cliental are which are mostly local people. The whole atmosphere is totally different. Very sad considering the boat and location had so much going for it. I've been going there for years and am really disappointed st what it's become.
