What a neat place this is! I am an organizer for Meet5 and I needed something different than the average bar that just has bingo-and I found it! They are family friendly so you can bring your kids here and they have a good selection of arcade games, as well as an amazing selection of beer and their food is really good (especially the french fries-they stay crispy, even after an hour or two of sitting. The staff seems to be very hands-on and involved with everybody in the bar, nobody seems to be left out (almost says if they are a friend having several friends over for dinner-very welcoming) We were there for bingo night, but they have different events on different nights that you can go to like a trivia night as well as an arcade tournament night, this isn't one of those bars that you sit around and watch sports, there is so much to do here! I visited Rec Haus for the first time a couple months ago, and have been there a lot since. I recently looked at their Yelp reviews, because I wanted to leave one of my own. I'm going to leave my honest review while also noting what I saw from other people -FOOD is actually really good here! And it's gotten better since they first opened. They added a lot of stuff recently. My first time there I had a wrap that was huge and really good, fries are epic. -DRINKS Their beer wall is literally local, not "fake local" with Chicago beers lol. They have a really wide range of things at the bar and cocktails were cool, but I haven't tried too many of them. -GAMEPLAY has content deals going on, huge selection of games, impressive variety for the space. -VIBE is EPICCCCC. They hit the sweet spot for being kid friendly, corporate friendly, and college frat boy friendly all at the same time. Super rare to be able to pull that off. It's laid out well and designed well for that to happen. I've seen moms work at the bar tables with a beer and lunch whole their kid goes to play games. I've been there myself with kids around and during late night hours and never once felt like I was around a bunch of children or a bunch of belligerents. Impressive. Good for LITERALLY anyone and everyone. -STAFF has been pretty helpful 10/10 times. I feel like they're all super kind which reflects on the management in my opinion. When I've had a problem or noticed someone else was a bit upset or hadn't gotten fast service on busy hours, they seemed to be willing to problem solve (I like to eavesdrop). I think they're well trained to work with customer service in mind, again has to be reflecting on management, -NO CASH! This seems to be the new norm at a lot of places, and they don't do any extra CC fees that literally every other business has. Honestly, I've seen some people that maybe had a bad experience and they could have been more understanding before reviewing, but I've been the same way. All that said, I love this little gem in St Charles and it's nice to have some variety in options out here. I want to see small businesses do well so they've got my loyalty for sure! read more

Came here on a date to watch the USMNT in the World Cup. Big mistake. It was bingo night so no game sound. Game was only less than half the TVs. I'm sure that there were folks there who really wanted to catch the Yankees game. Anyway, the woman calling bingo was losing her voice and did not really add to the experience. (She was very friendly as opposed to the rest of the staff.) They allowed young children to sit at the bar for bingo, which surprised me and is uncool in my book if not illegal. I don't want to sit at the bar next to your hyper pre-teen. The food is self serve. You order via your phone. Pick food up at the kitchen window. Food was decent enough. Plastic utensils. The bartenders (and I was one back in the day) were inattentive. Asked the busboy, who sort of lurked behind the bar washing glasses from time to time, for a box to go and he pointed to a table set up for to go orders. Thanks, man. Charging a 3% credit card fee when you don't accept cash is absolutely lame. Yes, debit cards are free. I didn't see that until after I paid the bill. There is a pour your own draft system with about a dozen beers but that doesn't impress me. An undersized bags, bocce and putting green. Some decent new arcade games. I guess it works just fine as a Chuck E Cheese alternative with fewer games and a full liquor bar. I can safely say that I won't be going here again for a date night or otherwise. read more

Layout is good, variety of games is good. Two bigger issues. 1. They don't accept cash, fine, then don't charge a fee for using card. 2. You use a scanner to order drinks and food, the price online doesn't match the bill. read more

We absolutely love this place! It is exactly what downtown Saint Charles was missing. It is our kids favorite place, they ask to go often. The arcade games are their favorite but we also love all the free table games you can play will enjoying some food and drinks. They have so many tvs so it is also the best place to watch a game with friends. I haven't had any food there that I didn't like but so far the hot honey pizza is my fave. Chefs kiss. Everyone working there seems to be friendly and in a good mood which is super inviting. Hugely recommend checking this place out if you want a fun, laid back hang out spot! read more

This is an awesome atmosphere and they are always adding something aesthetically new (cute fox mural wallpaper, upping the bier garden vibe, open air seating on nice days. Excellent food- fries are hand-cut with homemade dill ranch. Several choices of beer to try (self-serve) on the beer wall. Great, friendly servers. This place is basically self service.You have to log in to order food. We had a party of 12 wanting to order but the ability to log in was shut down.Why was it shut down? We were told that there was a party of 30 and the kitchen wanted to make sure that they could handle getting their food prepared. So we couldn't order. We wanted to play some of the games they have but were told we couldn't because the party of 30 had already rented them all out for all of the afternoon. This place is nothing but an adult version of Chucky Cheese. I promised myself that I would never go back here. read more

It's a great hit for downtown St. Charles! The beer wall is one of a kind, with plenty of variety especially for craft beer fans. I think this could be a great spot for St Charles, I'm not sure about the cashless bar or the Notso friendly bartender, however. I would bet that you can do better by reducing the price of some of the games to entice people to spend money on drinks and food. The price of a tall vodka anything cannot be $22 anywhere in st Charles. That's reserved for top shelf martinis. Our group along with everybody else that walks in is quite lost on what to do first or how to do it. You may want to consider a concierge or some other kind of person that can direct you or at least answer your questions. read more

What an awesome addition to downtown STC! We had a great experience at Rec Haus. It was the perfect spot for our group, we had kids ages 3-5 and they had a blast. We all enjoyed our food & drinks, there were tons of games to keep the kids entertained, and the setup is nicely designed. On top of the arcade games they had a big selection of board/tapletop games, coloring pages for kids, etc. They've done an amazing job creating an environment that's family-friendly while still being fun for adults. Our kids are already asking when we can go back. It would also make a great date night spot. We look forward to returning soon! read more

It's smaller than some other arcade type spots, which actually makes it easier to keep an eye on your kids while you relax with a cocktail or two. I absolutely love RecHaus! I love that it is family oriented during the day and for adults 21+ after 9 PM. The games are a blast and I love playing with my grandchildren. The food is really good too, and they've been adding a lot of new stuff to the menu. The atmosphere is welcoming and it seems like they're always changing things around to make it better. (I've been here a few times lol) will definitely be coming back and hopefully be bringing of my friends! read more

I arrived to play a game of pool and have some drinks, and when trying to pay for pool the person said they don't accept cash. What? This concept of not accepting cash when it says right on the dollar bill, "this note is legal tender for all debts, public, and private", is very un American. I should've immediately left, but was there with a friend and didn't want to make a scene. I will not be back until this policy changes, or it closes and someplace that accepts legal tender takes its place. read more

This was our first time here. It was quite confusing to say the least. Nobody came over and greeted us or explained how things work. You basically had to figure it out yourself. Service was mediocre at best. The food was just ok. My son who is foodie didn't even finish his food because he said it was not good. It is self service for the most part. Anytime you had a question you had to go up to the bar and ask. The bar is where you would find most of the employees just standing around doing what I'm not really sure? This place needs to be everyone's radar because it has something for everyone! From the second you enter Rec Haus, you're hit with a vibe and energy that radiates "fun with my friends ". The esthetics and layout were clearly well thought out with intention; especially the couch area which reflects how important it was to the owners to provide an EXPERIENCE and not just another bar. If you're not an arcade game person, grab a board game and play with your friends. If you're not a beer connoisseur, the friendly bartenders will whip up whatever you're drinking...or they'll make you a tasty "surprise specialty" drink that will quickly become your newest "go to" drink. Checked out Rec Haus with a group of about 15 for a running club "Thirsty Thursday" and while the concept of the space is fun, the experience unfortunately missed the mark for us. The food felt overpriced for the quality and portion size, which was disappointing given the otherwise upbeat vibe of the place! The main draw is the ability to pay for time to play different group games, which is a great idea in theory. However, the way staff handled the timing system left a lot to be desired. The employee who approached us seemed young and likely new, which we can completely understand, but the delivery was abrupt and came off as rude. There are kinder, more customer-friendly ways to let people know their time is up--especially if the goal is to build repeat business. Since so much of Rec Haus is self-serve, the few interactions customers do have with staff really matter. Unfortunately, ours wasn't positive, and it left our whole group unsure whether we'd return. Hoping the service piece improves over time, because the concept itself has potential! read more

My husband and I came here. We sat at the bar, played trivia games, sampled the beer, and really enjoyed ourselves. The service was kind and efficient. There were a lot of kids who seemed to be enjoying themselves as well. We didn't eat, but everything that came out of the kitchen looked great. Showed up with some family to try it out. Interesting concept we were there during the day so there were a lot of kids. When adults were trying to play some of the games, I guess kids are allowed until a certain time. Service was good slightly pricey for serving yourself beer.
