"Antique Mall" it is not. Granddaddy's is a giant consignment shop - Emphasis on giant - With a dizzying array of wares to browse that range from "should've stayed in the dumpster it was found in" to "and to think someone had this on their body/in their home." Otherwise, it is booth after booth after booth of items that belong at an outdoor weekend flea market and offered for half of the asking price with the peddler available. The asking price on the tag was the price on the tag, so an actual "deal" is not at play here. Womp womp. If you enjoy gawking, are in search of a gag gift or just want to waste some time leisurely walking, this is a spot to stop. 4 stars because the building is large enough to be called a "mall," did not smell like feline urine, a moldy basement or home to rodents, and there is plenty of room to maneuver around without feeling the wall to wall indoor yard sale items may tumble down upon you. We visited January 2026 on a mild temperature (high 50's/low 60's degrees) day so it wouldn't be fair to speak of actual climate control amid the heat of summer (Easter to Halloween) or bitterly cold days in this remnant of a flagship store; ymmv on how hot or cold the building is. As Antique Malls go, this place has a lot to look at. Located in East Burlington off of 40/85.. It is like being in a museum for consumer goods. I found a Lee Smith Christmas book! Cashiers were friendly. read more

Granddaddy's Antique Mall really does feel like a mall! It is absolutely huge inside, don't let the exterior fool you. There is a lot of square footage in the store and a bunch of different booths to explore. Each booth has a different theme to it. Some better than others but it's interesting taking a look at what each seller has to offer. I went with my family and fiancé because we happened to be passing by and it definitely did not disappoint! My sister is more into antiques than I am so I know she enjoyed the experience. I like looking at all of the old items, it gives you a glimpse of what life was like back in the day! Most antique stores are pretty stuffy inside. Granddaddy's was no different but they do have a bunch of fans scattered around the store to help with airflow. I think with antiques you just have to figure it will come with a musty scent to it. Overall enjoyed the experience walking around looking at everything. My fiancé even ended up finding a collectible car for his favorite race car driver! It's a really cool stop to just look around and see what each vendor has. There is a lot of different things from old advertisements to older books to even newer oddities like pinned insects. Some of the prices were a little bit high, but others were pretty good considering the discounts in some unit areas. I think my favorite part was walking into the uranium glass area, which was so fun. They had a really good selection of older vintage items. This is a place where you need a LOT of time to even see everything. So many different vendors, so many different things to see from furniture to jewelry and everything in between. You will find really old, old, almost new and new here. Prices vary by vendor, so some are reasonable and some are not so much, but it is a good place with a lot of variety. My husband is from Burlington. NC. I am not. So to get out of the hotel we decided to check out some stores in the area. I went into Granddaddy's Antique Mall while my husband remained outside. While I was in the store my husband was aggressively approached by owner Tom Kleeberg. My husband was talked to inhumanely. Told to move as Tom Kleeberg owned all the properties located there including Food Lion. My husband complied with the request. Tom Kleeberg then began to follow, harass & threaten him. He yelled loudly he said he was going to shoot me & everyone in the parking lot! He grabbed his bag & said what do you have a gun in there? My husband continued to be harassed even though he complied with Tom Kleeberg's request. Tom Kleeberg then continued to harass him when he was having a conversation with a woman & later on the phone. When I came out Granddaddy's Antique Mall I could not find my husband & walked around looking for him. I found him & he was extremely upset, disturbed etc.. He explained what happened & I was outraged. We left & were crossing in Bojangles parking lot heading back to the hotel. We were swarmed & blocked in by 3 police SUV's. Thankfully we did not have any warrants. I told them it was insensitive, up surd & unamerican etc.. Especially with everything going on in the world & innocent people being killed for Tom Kleeberg to make false statements of this nature. This antique shop definitely has a lot of variety. The store is very big and has just about anything you could be looking for. Some really creative vendors and others had there booths so full you were afraid to even walk into them. But overall we had a fun afternoon shopping here. If I could leave a zero I would. Found 1 item. Got the item from the case. It was marked $59 But,on the bottom it said $19.50. I asked if it was marked down. There was no willingness to help. I asked to call the owner again refused we can only call if over $100. I asked again. I said are they going to hang up. She said those are the rules. If I had a booth and the store was unwilling to make a call, I would either change that or move out. They said well, we normally do 10% but we will do 15%. So we finish shopping and I had her a card. "Oh, we can only do the 15% if you pay in cash. Oh come on ! I did not have the cash. Again, no caring,no help, absolutely no help at all. She huffed and walked over to the manager(I guess) and they took my card. I'm guessing they did not want to lose the processing fee. It seemed that they were looking out for them instead of their customer (the booth renter) And they sure were not looking out for us. I also asked my wife and brother in case I was wrong. Their response was worse than mine. They made it very uncomfortable with their attitude, demeanor and lack of customer service. Unfortunately, my only dealing with this place with was with a vendor you wrote "fu** you, dude," when I questioned his ethics in advertising a set of furniture for a price, but the price in the headline was actually just for one piece; the set was $300 more. I've visited this antique mall 1-2x every year for the past 8 years (when I visit family in the area for the holidays). It was never a mecca for premium antiques, but because of its sheer size I was always able to go home with something. For the past few years though this place has really devolved into flea market territory. Very few antiques now, and what's left is very low quality. Many booths are disheveled/sloppy. They unapologetically sell repro and 80s/90s/00s items, which has no place in an ANTIQUE MALL. Most booths contain the same items I've seen time and time again - very little turnover. Lots of booths are only 20-40% full. Prices are ridiculous, too. I haven't seen the cafe inside open in ages. I would like to defend one well curated booth that is against the far right wall (towards the middle), which seems to be the only decent booth in the whole place. The seller has very interesting items, nearly all of which are 40s or older. But one good booth amongst 86,000 sq ft does not make a quality antique mall. I might keep checking in because I really want this place to succeed, but they have GOT to change their standards. read more

My god, have I died and gone to antique heaven? Yes, yes I have. We saw this place while driving from Greensboro to Chapel Hill and quickly made a detour to the next exit to go back and check it out! The size of a football field (well, it seemed like it) and endless shopping possibilities. I couldn't believe how much stuff I found and bought. The good: This place is HUGE. Great selection and variety of items and it's dog friendly which is a big plus. The bad (and by no means is a reflection of the owners): the vendors are bat s**t crazy for asking what they are asking on just about everything. Seriously, ignore the guy who posted the lame "if you want something for a dollar, go to the dollar store" spiel because they are probably one of the vendors there. Don't believe me? Go a few hours down I-85 to Charlotte and check out Sleepy Poet - it's the same stuff for 15%-20% less and "firm" isn't written on every. single. tag. As as a good rule of thumb for anywhere, always take a look at the various antique and collectibles guides to make sure your paying for something that is worth your money versus what some idiot vendor thinks it's worth. read more

To the knothead moaning about Granddaddy's not putting on a brown shirt (Jawohl, mein fuhrer!) and enforcing Comrade Cooper's mask edict: stick a sock in it! Have you actually READ the glorious edict? It does not simply say to wear a mask or risk going to a re-education camp! It says to wear a mask where social distancing isn't possible. It's possible to stay six feet away from other shoppers at Granddaddy's (whether you choose to or not is your own decision) so they aren't required to make anyone wear a mask. Furthermore, they couldn't make someone wear a mask if they wanted to. They could piss and moan (like you are) but that's about it. Federal law takes precedent over a governor's fanciful whim even though you're seemingly unaware of it. I refer you to the ADA. If an employee asks a shopper to wear a mask and said shopper declares that they can't due to medical reasons, the employee can't ask for proof or press the issue. If the employee did, they'd open their company up to a federal lawsuit and quickly put themselves out of business. Did you bother asking Granddaddy's employees if that was the case or did you simply decide to slander them on the internet, Comrade? For years, I've been patronizing Granddaddy's. The staff has always been the epitome of courtesy and politeness. Furthermore, they're quick with responses to my questions and requests and will shoot the breeze, so to speak, if I initiate such. Ever since I moved from northern Virginia I've been searching and hoping for a proper antique mall. The thrift/antique scene here isn't the greatest. I saw the sign for Granddaddy's on I-40 and had to check it out. It's your typical antique mall - the store is the size of a Wal-mart and there are booths with multiple vendors. Having so many vendors in one place keeps the prices down. You can find anything here - furniture, antique toys, glassware, clothes, linens, kitchen items, vintage jewelry, signs, brick a brac. Even "hard to find" things like antique arcade games, barber's chairs - you name it. On the far left is a consignment area, where people don't have to buy a booth and can sell individual items. I cannot wait to come back here when I buy a house, there were a lot of great deals on furniture. The staff is very friendly and helpful. One gentleman helped me drag a dresser into the aisle to get a better look. If you pay in cash, you can normally negotiate up to a 10% discount. If the vendor happens to be there then you may be able to negotiate even more. They said they get new items in every day, I definitely plan on stopping by again! read more

My brother and I have been going to antique stores/malls for 10-15 years between NC & PA and this is easily one of the top 5 stores. Bring water and a snack along with you because you can easily spend 6 hour in here (as we did today). Lots of good finds and prices are overall fair between the booths. Many booths offer discounts or clear notation of 'firm' prices. Some booths even have the owners cell number if you would like to haggle the price directly. Bring your pickin buddy along because you'll enjoy many laughs and 'wow' moments together. 10/10 :) read more

I really liked this place before Covid 19. I visited the store today and even though sign on the door says face masks mandatory, a lot of customers were not wearing a mask. Two customers were checking out at the counter without masks so it's not like management was not aware. I feel like management either does not agree with the NC ordinance requiring face masks or they are afraid to ask a customer to please put on a mask. Either way they are putting their customers and staff at risk. I was at another antique store in another town recently. A customer came in with a face mask but their nose was uncovered. The employee asked politely to please pull up their mask or leave the store. If Granddaddy's is unwilling to do this, then I will have to elsewhere. I value my health more than their antiques. read more

Again, the dodgy strip mall. However, the building seemed clean and well maintained, but is in serious need of A/C (DO NOT try to shop there on a hot day). This place is SO BIG I literally got dizzy looking around the aisles. Good selection, but of course that would change all the time (everything from vintage costume jewelry, to books, to WW II items, to furniture) They have done a nice job of keeping all of their booths full, so you don't run into any empty spots as you're shopping. Obviously the prices are set by the booth owners, but I was surprised by how fair and consistent pricing was on most things. It was an experience. I love this place so much! I take my dog and spend hours in here. There really is something for everyone in here. Some of the booth prices are high but you can usually contact the owner by phone and try and negotiate. A lot of the booths will do 50% sales every once in awhile too. I like to go around holidays when all the booths have their decorations out. I've bought furniture, books, and records here. The only downside is that I collect vintage toys and haven't had much luck in that department. read more

I've been here quite a few times in the last 12 months and have always managed to find good deals. There are some vendors who charge way too much - I don't know how they stay in business as I keep seeing the same items every visit. Just avoid these booths and purchase from those with the great finds and prices. I always seem to get the noisy shopping cart, maybe there is something that can be done to quiet those a bit. To the previous review regarding Ebay, I also shop Ebay, and Ebay sellers have gotten crazy greedy with highly inflated prices. For example: vintage suitcase on Ebay $55 + $15 shipping. This is a large antique mall with many vendors. Some of the vendors have extremely junky booths..as in things that aren't antiques, or even collectibles at that. The other issue with this antique mall is that they are significantly over priced. Hope you have better luck than I have! read more
