This Grande Cheese location has terrible customer service... I completely ignored for over 5 minutes, while 3 employees, a young male in the deli and 2 women in the pizza area were aware I was waiting to be served. Not sure who is responsible for the hot table, I only wanted a slice of pizza. A customer came up beside me and one of the girls at the pizza helped him get a couple of pizza doughs and whent back to her station. Just plain rude. It's not the first time I have either had to wait way too long to be served or felt like the employee was doing me a favour when I finally got served. read more

There is a huge selection of cheese and other high quality items like $30 bottles of olive oil. They lso have a deli and several aisles of dry food such as pasta. I get my parmesan cheese here and it's great. This location is right next to HMart, making it convenient to visit both stores every visit. read more

I placed a custom order for a charcuterie board using my own family board. Marilen did a fabulous job with the presentation of all foods on the board. CUSTOMER ALERT!!! The Grande Cheese Factory at 9737 Yonge Street in Richmond Hill does not stay open until 8 pm as advertised, but rather closes earlier. On Monday, February 13th, I drove 27 kms through heavy traffic on Highway 404 and Yonge Street all the way from Scarborough, only to see an Italian lady lock the exit door at 7:55 pm. The store enterance door had already been locked priop to that time,. She did this even though she saw me arriving there as I parked my vehicle. Although I stood at the front door and tried to tell her that it was not yet 8pm, I was ignored by this very rude Italian woman. She did not even have the decency or courtesty to come to the door and talk to me. Today I left three messages for the Store Manager Cesare and all my calls have been ignored. As a person of colour this was not my very first bad experience at this Store. If you are a person of colour be prepared to be ignored or receive very poor Customer Service, especially from some of the Italian women that work at this store. read more

How have I never written a review for this place? I would say I go on average every six weeks and right now I need a cheese run. We love their house made fresh mozzarella nodini or braids. Sometimes they have burrata imported from Italy. A huge selection of brand name cheeses at great prices. All kinds of Italian meats whole or sliced. When you visit this place, instantly from the atmosphere you can tell that it offers authentic Italian ingredients, meats, and cheeses. They have a huge cheese section, meat section, pizza, gelato, frozen ice cream, olive oil, salsa, biscottis, novelty snacks like tiramisu cookies, and drinks like San Pelligrino. The people that work there are friendly. The lighting and paint of the atmosphere is a little drab. The walls could use white repainting. The prices are a somewhat higher. My go to items are their italian pasta sauces, which are lighter and better tasting compared to ragu at no frills. I also like their frozen ice creams, especially their hazelnut ice cream. The brand of frozen ice cream they sell is only limited to a few speciality stores. Welcome addition to the area. Right beside a Korean grocery store HMart. They should consider having a mini food court and selling some meals inside. The HMart next door sells lunch meals in their mini food court. read more

Finally came here today, after walking past each time I go to H Mart, next door. The name put me off really, because I don't eat cheese. And the place says cheese outlet. However, I walked in today and was pleasantly surprised at what they had to offer. They do have a lot of cheese but they have lots of groceries, meats, breads etc. A really nice selection of european foods. They had some scottish shortbread and had my favourite flavour of jam. I love all things blackcurrant flavoured because all purple foods are blackcurrant flavoured, in the UK. Not grape flavour, like here. Best thing was that the jam was only $2.79, what a steal. I bought a good selection of cold cuts too. Nice gourmet market with a misleading name. I would recommend a walk around the aisles. read more

Stumbled into this gem today as it's right beside H-Mart (yeah!). Based on the name and 1990's signage aesthetic, I expected to find -just- cheese (I've seen a cheese place in Kensington Market before which was literally only dairy goods). So, finding other foodstuffs for sale was a pleasant surprise. There were plenty of cookies/cracker things from Italy, a heavenly amount of pasta sauces, prepared foods, and delicious-looking cold cuts. Nothing seemed particularly overpriced. But their crowning glory is. their. coffee. Totes did not expect to find the perfect cappuccino here: piping hot, laced with cocoa, bursting in flavour, not the fake stuff at Starbucks. Our North American tastebuds might find the cappuccino a little strong, but it was undoubtedly Real. (Plus, the manager kindly treated us to it!) -1 star because the store closes at 6pm on most days (7pm on Fridays), despite what Yelp says. 9 to 5'ers, students, and anyone else with hustling' lives will have to miss out on weekdays, unfortunately! read more

I typically purchase my cheeses from Longos and they have a great selection. I figured a place like this would be even better in terms of selection. I was wrong. There was a lot of cheese available but of the same type. The one thing that was great was their prosciutto selection. I'm not big on cheese, so while I've been curious about this place, I'd never stepped into it before. This time, I was looking for paneer and bocconcini (or fresh mozz), so I came in while my mom and grandparents were at H Mart next door. I didn't end up getting any cheese, but I did take a look around, and I liked what I saw. I also didn't leave empty-handed. I'm a cheap foodie, so I like looking at cheap cuts of food. They have cryovac packs of deli ends here! I like deli ends because they allow me to try a number of different kinds of deli at a fraction of the cost. I ended up getting a pack of sliced deli meat for less than $2. I also got three prosciutto end chunks for between $1 and $3 each! I sliced into one today, and it was delicious. Should I find one I can't slice, I'll just throw it into a stockpot. I've been told it works as a fairly good substitute for fancy Chinese gold ham. I can see why. I was in a rush, but I did take a look around and saw that they have at least five or six kinds of balsamic glaze. Balsamic glaze is my new favorite sauce to play with. I got one from Metro, and I've been using it on basically every salad and sandwich I've had since. They had a few fruit flavored balsamic glazes at Grande Cheese Company, so I picked up a strawberry one for $3.99. I have yet to try it, but I'm super excited about it. The next time we take Grandma and Grandpa to H Mart, I'm coming back to do a more detailed exploration! read more

For those in the Italian community THIS is really the place to go Forget the Fortinos owned by Loblaws imposter pretending to be Italian Nutella, Buffalo Mozzarella, Crotone cheese, Friulano cheese, Faro soup, Truffle oil, Ravioli, and a great Pizza offering They have bread brought in but really its all about the cheese and the various gourmet items to impress your guests Probably the best selection of different truffle items I have seen at reasonable prices Now for whatever reason you will find that the each Grande Cheese is an experience unto itself as they have no formula for store branding as they are all different the two maple stores are different than the Richmond Hill store they are cheaper than the smaller shops in the community So this is really how italians eat at lunch: Any cheese, prosciutto, tomatoes, warm fresh crusty bread, ricotta cheese, charcuterie and some truffle oil and sea salt....bingo your lunch is done! read more

Inside is a completely different WORLD as if I went to an European Marketplace if I had a chance to go, but it resembles my mental image and probably the majority of the rest of Canadians too. It definitely has an Italian orientation as Mike S. stated when I walk through this and recognize some Italian Deli Meats & Cheeses while seeing some others for the FIRST time. The prices seem reasonable as I have been in the market for simple Cheddar Cheese and Panchetta. There are other grocery selections such as Breads, Dried Pasta, Canned Goods, BALSAMIC Vinegar, Coffees etc... I believe I saw a whole leg of Prosciutto for $70 or so if someone likes that DRAMATIC act of cutting slices in front of your family to get that authentic Italian dinner feel. read more

All the way from sunny Phoenix, AZ and Grande Cheese was my #1 place on my list to visit and shop!! Oh, the Italian cured meats selection is enough to make my Italian heart go pitter patter. We do NOT have a place even remotely as cool as this in Arizona. The deli meats sliced are superb and the take home selection not in the deli case is to die for!! If you're someone who loves antipastio, this is the perfect place for you to come shopping! The big sign on the outside will definitely catch your attention when you drive into the plaza. Although, inside doesn't seem as big as what it portrays outside but it's enough to offer you plenty of choices. Once you walk in, it's the cheese section. They have a wide selection of cheese, from packaged where you can buy at certain grocery stores with different flavours to ones where you can buy in bulk for a cheaper price. Then as you keep walking you will see the meats section. They have all of their meats displayed, tell the server behind the counter which one you want then they will thinly cut you fresh pieces to your desire amount. If fresh cut isn't what you want, they have meats which are pre-cut and sealed down the aisle in the fridge too. As you move to the next aisle, they have an open counter full of olives, different kinds of olives. You can just grab a container, help yourself to whichever ones you prefer, green, black, red, etc. They have different small shelves around the store that sells dressings, olive oils, balsamic. They also have hot table serving hot foods at the back corner of the store. They do have quite a few of selections, so if you want something on the go, or don't feel like cooking at home, give it a try! But with the looks of the food, it doesn't interest me at all, feels like it's been sitting in the display for awhile. Besides that, they serve gelato as well as espresso. You can try out their different flavours before buying. They don't have too much unique choices, chocolate, banana, mango, tiramisu, hazelnut, salted caramel, etc. Good thing they had the sampling, I tried the hazelnut, I wanted to split it back out! It didn't have any taste but sweetness to it and what's worse is the texture! It was very clumpy and not smooth, I can't even describe how bad it was it just turned me right off and I walked away. If you're coming here for food, I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND. If you're coming here to buy their products, HIGHLY RECOMMEND because most stuff you buy here are cheaper than any other grocery stores out there. read more

On my favourites list, Grande Cheese has given me cause to make it part of my weekly shopping stops. I never question the freshness of the cheeses or the knowledge of the employees. Italian centric, just looking at the variety of olive oils and vinegars, biscotti and pasta and a well supplied bakery run by Open Window Bakeries - it's an event each and every week. One of the less known but fabulous services is the ability to call ahead, order from the deli and have it ready for pick up when you want it saves alot of wait time at the deli counter. Grande Cheese is always busy and weekends are crazy but manageable. read more

Was told by my friend that their cheese pizza is amazing - I thought it was just cheese pizza (meh) but their aracini balls (I got the spicy one) was great but they pasta sauce just tasted like bottled sauce. grande cheese 551 cityview blvd ( vaughan ) cannot believe my experience at grande cheese. i ordered food for xmas eve, made sure with them that 5:30 pm was okay to pick-up. they said "yes". they called me days after and said "no", closing early. called head office, did not get anywhere with them. i understand workers also have to go home to their families for christmas, but they should have confirmed the time before taking my order. head office should have been more helpful and not argue with me. not a place that is reliable to order from. read more

I come here for the proscuitto. My favourite is the cappola, which has a soft texture resembling raw meat. San Daniele is good too. Deli selection is great, pricing is decent can't complain. Bread is warm and fresh, great price too. Not a big cheese person so I can't comment but huge cheese selection. Sunday seems to be a busy time, so avoid if you can, or come early. If you have a long order or want to try a lot of different things, I recommend you go on off time. Great place though. read more

I go to Grande because it kinda reminds me of the old Italian stores my mother and uncle used to take me to when I was quite young. The smells and variety of food was always fun. This is somewhat of a modernized version of the old Pasquale brothers downtown and it is ok but unfortunately the price of items is generally a bit high for what you are getting. The grande brand cheese like the parm and romano is good enough quality for meatballs and other meals but not as good as Reggiano from Italy. Price is quite high for the quality nonetheless. I was drawn into the hot table and thought I would pick up a veal or chicken sandwich. The chicken on a bun is $8.99 and the veal is $7.99 plus any topping is $1. These are sitting in a hot tray not freshly made so they are a bit mushy for my taste. But the price for the quality is really the issue. You get ONE slice of veal or chicken and for about 10 bucks you can go to pretty much any store and get a whole chicken for that scratch. I got the veal with some sweet peppers and it is OK but it is a thin piece of veal heavily breaded on a bun. So you are pretty much eating bread with a bit of meat. The lasagna seemed nice and is a far better value although that is alot of pasta with a bit of meat in it too. Mind you a piece is only 4-5 bucks. In all the store has some nice products but they are pretty pricey and the hot table is ok in a pinch if you are starving but in no way would I go out of my way to eat here again. I'd only go back here if there was a sale of some kind as it is too far and I can get the parmesan from a variety of other stores much closer. Probably best to buy the regianno and grate it yourself. The last few mozzarella balls I bought were very soft and way too hard to grate. Not sure what the deal is but I would also stick to other brands of mozz. that are more consistent. read more
