In my opinion, the common eating and work area needs better maintenance. It's dirty, with food splatters and dust accumulating in the corners, around the windows, and on the tables. The garbage and napkin stations were unattended, which is disappointing. This used to be one of my favorite spots to work and enjoy healthy meals. Out of respect for loyal customers, improved customer service and upkeep would go a long way. It feels like Nature's Emporium has gone downhill since the new ownership took over. read more

I visited Nature's Emporium for the first time two Saturdays ago. What made me drop by? I found out that it sells Nanashake products, including their Nanapops and Nanabowls. This store is in Vaughan. For years, I have driven by this store, saw all the traffic coming in and out of this plaza, and never thought about stopping by. Well, I did it at long last! There was plenty of parking. Major Mackenzie Drive does get busy on weekends, so I had to wait a bit to make a left into the lot. I was so happy stepping foot into this store. I saw a beverage section with iced coffees and Kombucha. The variety was amazing, from dairy-free iced coffees, to sugar-free kombucha. I was mesmerized by spiralized veggies. I never thought about spiralizing butternut squash. I'm not a major squash fan, but I picked up some and made a tasty turkey stirfry with it. I'm a fan now. The produce section is vast. Everything looked so pristine and fresh. It was like you could do a fancy photoshoot, but you're really there to get some produce and ruin the displays. I saw mini watermelons that were adorable. I then moved into the prepared foods section. I saw these massive pizzas that you bake at home. It's cool if you want to customize them by adding more toppings and change up your takeout plans. My mom would have been pleased to have seen bags of chicken feet. It's like this place made a special section for her. I loved the beyond dairy section. I tend to not do dairy that much, because I'm borderline lactose-intolerant and I find that dairy increases my mucus production (how charming, I know). However, ice cream with full-fat dairy is my weakness. I loved seeing dairy-free sour cream and butter, milk alternatives, and much more. Oh, and then there's the plant-based food section. One of my favourite brands is Gardein. It was nice seeing the stuffed turk'y and then other brands offering their take on a plant-based turkey dinner. I did find my Nanapops and Nanabowls. This summer, I travelled to Sobeys at Laird and Wicksteed to get them. With all Nature's Emporium stores now carrying them, it's so much closer for me to get my fix, even though I do love this specific Sobeys. This store offers three different Nanabowl flavours, which impressed me. I got the remaining two flavours that I have never had: chocolate biscotti and strawberry cheesecake. This store is massive. The vitamin and natural makeup sections were impressive. I spent a long time browsing everything. Shopping here can be hazardous to my bank account. I went to pay for my items. I paid with a credit card, which was smooth. The woman cashing me out looked at my Nanabowls and asked whether I have had them before. I let her know that I've had the banana bread bowl and it was so delicious that I needed to try the other two flavours. I like the hometown feel at this place, as staff members are equally curious and excited about products here as their customers. They are also so friendly. I absolutely loved shopping here. I will be back because I feel like I've only absorbed a tiny subset of the products that are offered here. I hope to get some prepared foods. The reason I give 4 stars is because you can absolutely eat as clean as you want at a reasonable price by shopping here IF 1. you pay attention to the sales and coupons in the NE flyer 2. Shop intentionally. Know exactly what you are going for and but only that, planning for the cost. 3. Don't buy meat, fish, etc. all at once, if you're on a tight budget. (Buy that $40 steak this week, get the whole $20 organic chicken next week). 4. Packaged poultry and meats are reasonably competitive, in comparison to non organics at fortinos and longos. For budgeting people like me that are also very food and health conscious, although, I won't say that the prices won't ever raise an eyebrow, from my 13 year experience shopping there, the way they price juggle everything in the store makes the governmental burden of buying organic bearable even on a tight budget like mine. TIP: The pharmacy area be sure to have your phone and be ready to price check other store market place apps (Amazon, Walmart, iHerb etc.) before you buy anything. Surprisingly, many times the prices are actually cheaper at Nature's but sometimes it's a few dollars cheaper elsewhere. Be prepared to pay steeply for the prepared foods, especially post pandemic. I used to be able to afford the salads and the jarred soups, but not anymore. What was 7.99 is now 12.99 should went from $10 to $17. Definitely not affordable, and is the only reason why I took a star away. As time goes buy, I find shopping regular produce at the super chains, very scary. What is being put in and on our fruits, veg, and meats, is mind boggling, but at least, I trust that at Nature's, I can keep the ingestion of bug spray, anti-biotics and growth hormones to a minimum. I shop mainly at the store in Maple on Major Mackenzie near Keele which is the small, but I'll sometimes head over to the corner of Weston and Langstaff where the much larger store is located. TBH I find the smaller store more user friendly with seemingly an easier go to find of all the specials and deals. I earnestly shop at the smaller one and tend to do more browsing at the larger. The service is on past with all the other supermarkets we shop at. But in the health & beauty area it's a part above standard. They really help you out and are pretty knowledgeable and amiable and patient when questioned. read more

Great food, especially in the pre made food counter, if you can get their attention. RUDE RUDE RUDE. The employees behind the counter don't care about ticket numbers they just listen to the customers that speak their language, who are also super rude. Step right in front of me, like I'm not even there. I am 6'3 & 250 lbs. I kept my cool, but got very hard. This is a common occurrence there. Quickly remembered why I don't shop there and let my wife go, who gets highly irate if treated in such a manner. So, if you are not willing to be ignored, don't go here. Warning: just stay away from this place. We were driving through and passed by this place north of Toronto so I ran in to get a few juices and snacks for the rest of our trip. Mistake. I am not sure what this establishment is supposed to be, but it looked like the name and goods indicate they are a healthier option than others. In fact, as it turned out, they are against, or at least uncooperative with, public health. Most customers looked suspect, most of them were unmasked and uncaring and yet... this is a .. get this... health store??? I jumped back out of course, but by the look of it Nature's Emporium is an emporium for Johnny-come-latelies who do not respect others. Prices were marked much higher than elsewhere. I have been a customer for several years, but no more. It was the second time I remarked the employees not masking properly. They do not cover themselves properly and the masks they use are not actual medical masks. Not sure what is up with that - whether management is unaware or they think the pandemic is a joke - but I am advising you against visiting. Normally, I would say they have a range of healthier and organic options, but truth be told much of what they carry can be found elsewhere. I will not be back. I have visited this location (Major Mackenzie) on and off for several years. I like to pick up some ice cream and pet food here. The products are expensive but you think they are better goods so worth it. No more. I was there yesterday and a woman with long black hair was in front of me in line. She was wearing a mask which she kept playing with that was not covering her nose at all. What is the point of having a mask if you keep fidgeting with it and then not even have your nose covered with it? Apparently, it is an organic and "healthy" store, but customers do not know anything... except... she was not a customer. She was an employee. I was feeling bad for the fully masked younger girl cashier when she started chatting with the 'customer.' I thought she must be a stupid regular customer. Then a long-haired blonde came by... again... no joke... with a non-medical mask.. you guessed it... only covering her mouth and not nose!??!? Again, you are distributing your germs everywhere lady. This woman started chatting with the dark-haired woman about their hours and the store and asked her "are you working this weekend?" and after the employee had paid for her good at the cash they both decided to go to the back to look at something quickly. Nice, two employees with improper masks, improper masking and noses not covered. I would have dropped everything I had in my basket and left right there if the girl at the cash was not properly masked like the two employees. As it were I had changed lanes. read more

If you have been to the original location of Nature's Emporium in Newmarket, you would know how good it is compare to Whole Foods! After 20 years in business, they finally opens up their 2nd location in Vaughan! Though it is half the size of their first location but the store is well stocked! Great place. I love coming here for the organic selection. These are very reasonable especially when on sale. Key word is SALE.. usually great value. You need to know what you are buying and when to buy. Some items are over priced to make up for the items on sale. And it would be nice to find more bulk items to buy to save some costs. I'm a frequent customer at the Maple location, and occasionally visit the Aurora and Woodbridge locations. They're all really good and so much better than other "health" stores I've shopped at. I buy groceries for my little granddaughter, my senior mom and my family here. They have a great assortment of supplements and beauty/grooming products. And, as an added bonus - they also have an excellent hot table and juice bar/cafe! I can't say enough about the entire store. Great selection, quality, service and environment. I come here about 2 times a week now for lunch and just love it! I adore the hot/cold options and have recently ventured to the cold prepared food section. I've sampled their samosas and they are just sooo delicious. They don't mind heating them up on site for lunch. I've also been digging their juices. It's all made using the produce section in store, so for ~$8, you're getting an organic juice made the moment you order it. The desserts are pretty decent too. I love their espresso cheesecake. DO NOT purchase the big bag PoppaCorn Movie Style Popcorn. The bag I purchased had a soapy smell and taste to it and it was not fresh. It tasted off and that was confirmed by 2 other family members. When I went in to get a credit or refund for my purchase the manager did not care at all for customer service. He complained to me that he could not give a refund/credit because the bag was opened. (this makes no sense since customers purchase items to be opened and eaten). He also insisted he could not do anything for me because there were no other complaints about the popcorn. Not sure why I could not be the first as I USED TO shop there often and don't make it a habit of returning items but the flavour of this popcorn was so off, that I could not consume it or justify tossing it for $9.99. The manager at this store does not believe in customer satisfaction and did not believe the taste of the popcorn was off. He accused me of just not liking the flavour. He would not believe me when I explained that the popcorn tasted soapy. So folks be aware of what you purchase. read more

I've come here enough times and generally speaking it is a good experience. However this is my first and last time coming to any natures emporium store. I cannot believe that in 2017 the store security guard has the audacity to basically follow me around the store. Disgusting. Every aisle or area I was in he magically popped up. I almost confronted him but he walked away very quickly when he saw me looking at him. Ambrosia is closer to me anyway and that will be my main source for organic groceries. Their selection isn't as vast as natures emporium, but at least they don't have a security guard trailing your every move. read more

When I reacted to a cosmetics product and attempted to return it the closing store manager - a smaller, angry looking fellow with a lot of facial hair - told me an allergic reaction wasn't a valid reason. I walked out of there holding the product I couldn't use along with a receipt, and the intention to warn others NE's a downright stingy operations unconcerned about customers once capital is made. This was a foul move by the manager in charge. read more

We as a family love this store. I must begin by explaining why I could not give this store 5 stars, The main reason is that it's really over priced! We only shop organic, and mostly gluten free. We respect and appreciate organics and the process that goes into growing/raising the product. However with so much competition down the street..... They should do some homework! I can honestly say ' I've been around, in regards to grocery stores' and I have done my research. Now a days, You CAN find organic sections in almost any grocery store, including longos, fortinos, yummy market and now even Walmart! (Down the street at Weston and major Mackenzie) and yes Online. Much of the product like berries, mini cucumbers, cherry tomatoes lettuce, mushrooms etc come in pre packaged containers, therefore you can clearly see what and where the produce has come from. So I did a little comparison, for exemplar at nature emporium every single item is over priced by $1-$2 dollars, but milk (homo 3.25%) is $3 more then Walmart. (Which we buy every few days!) On a more positive note; this location is clean, cozy, and the produce is always fresh. The deli, hot table and drink bar are great. And I especially love that they bake gluten free pizza to order. (And of course offer a large selection in gluten free items, from fresh bread, crackers, pretzels, waffles, and chicken nuggets......-and more! I like the fact that the majority of the time it's predictable, unlike other stores, I know I can find ABC in this store and run over to Walmart (exp) for XYZ. Keep in mind, I defiantly plan my shopping trips, to save a few dollars here and there. With a gluten free and organic diet, 3 guys at home, my self and many visitors (family, friends) I shop very very often. And must stay organized. Although I do splurge in this store more then others, and I especially love their cheese selection, and that they offer samples daily, have you ever tried coconut flavoured cheese? (Delicious) This store over all is my favourite but I wish it was a little more competitive in pricing or at least offered a points card/system or rewards! This store has a lot going for it -- a wide array of products, some of which can't be found elsewhere. But many of the products CAN be found in other local stores and Nature's Emporium is a bit pricey, so it's worth shopping around. The store carries a good selection of organic and gluten-free products. A tip: Pay attention to the "expired" dates on the products. read more

A friend introduced me to the main store in Newmarket. The place has an impressive list of organic foods to appease anyone's tastes. The deli section has some decent offerings. What you realise is the the selection costs a price a lot more. I cannot see someone doing their regular groceries. I prefer to pick items for special events. The selection of cheeses is excellent. Some of the prepackaged foods ex. Gluten free cookies or crackers can be obtained at Loblaws or Metro. I find the pitted dates to be an excellent price and the organic gluten free chocolate cranberry cookies to be sinfully good. read more

The prices for certain things, can be quite a bit higher, but i do love the a lot of the specialty items they carry that is hard to find in other places. Tried "Rice Cream" which is a take on Ice Cream, and was skepticle at first, but honestly would not be able to differentiate between the two if i was blindfolded. As a vegetarian family its always tough to find suitable places to eat. There is plenty of parking available outside this store in the mall it is located in. We had portions from their hot/cold food menu which had soups, pasta, pizza and vegetables with choices in each. Lots of vegan options. No, it's not the Newmarket store's twin sibling -- the Maple store is smaller and is laid out differently. Products wise this store covers a lot. I don't ask the staff questions so I don't know how helpful they are. The prices are okay.

I like this store so much and I could tell all the staff is very caring and really friendly and really try to meet your needs.

Cafe Review Update: Every time I go to this cafe I seem to fall in love with it more now that I know what I like. I found out today they charge the same price for all teas, despite larger sizes having more tea (they use loose leaf that they put into a tea pouch). My fave is the Earl Grey. It's honestly incredible. They also have good quality sweeteners, including Dutchman's honey, which is the best. None of that billy bee crap. I've recently had the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie and the cranberry scone, which was very yum. They bake these in the morning. They list the ingredients for all of the baked goods (not the calories, which makes me happy. Their is an over-emphasis on calories, and lack of an emphasis on ingredients). This cookie had impressively good ingredients. Yesterday, I had one of their juices, I believe it was the Green Apple Lemonade (I substituted the lemon for lime). It was really good. Sometimes they make a Kale Mojito juice and bottle it. This one is not always available, but is so so good. The cafe closes half an hour before the store does. read more

I guess I should eventually go back for a longer visit and see if I reevaluate my initial rating but there were definitely a lot of downsides to this store (despite the many positives). This is very similar to whole foods in the way it is set up and in terms of what they offer. They do however have a MUCH bigger gluten free selection, especially in their hot plate area and ready to heat items. A few items worth noting: gluten free falafel, shepards pie, lasagna and brownies. I ordered a piece of gluten free veggie lasagna from their hot table but this was very different from the one that was in the ready to heat area. It boasted that it was noodle free (not made with gfree noodles as the other one was), and looked like it had some sort of veggie-pressed type of noodle. What I didn't realize was that it wasn't lasagna, it was just cheese layered with vegetables. There was so much cheese it was actually nauseating. I can't imagine a single person who could consume that much cheese!! I also had the brownie made with chickpeas. It had a slightly bitter aftertaste but was overall okay. As everyone mentioned, this place is massively overpriced. I paid $15 for my slice of cheese/veg and a brownie. Not impressed. I'd give it less stars but I really feel that they do have a lot to offer to the gluten free eaters out there. I will likely try it again sometime when I'm in the area read more

Pretty good organic grocery store. Prices are quite reasonable and are better than the organic food sections at major grocery chains like Loblaws. There is a fair selection and variety of products but occasionally there have been things I've been looking for that I couldn't find. For one, I would prefer if they had a better selection of packaged juices for sale. They also have a substantial health products department selling supplements and natural body products. Prices here are again, quite reasonable, though you could find better by ordering online. All in all, this is my go-to place if I can't find something better priced at Costco or online. read more

Definitely a place to go to for organic and healthy groceries. I loved how they have a cafe and prepared food. There were also attendants who makes sure that everyone's questions were answered. Very interesting prepared foods. However, I was very disappointed there were no nutritional labels on these products. I would expect a store that is committed to such high standards of healthy eating should have such labels . My daughter is vegan and I was very interested in buying one of the desserts. However, I think it important to know nutritional information, particularly the sugar content. I spoke to the manager at the Major Mackenzie store and his response was " These products are made in our store and it is not mandated by the government to have nutritional information on these products". A quality store should have high standards and go beyond what the government requires, where it strongly aligns with its goals. mgl read more
