I ruptured a disc in my low back two years ago and after intense rehab, I rarely experience pain anymore. Every now and then, though, I'll experience intense back spasms again. Today was one of those times. I'd flown in from San Francisco for a wedding - on Spirit Airlines, 'nough said - and I woke up this morning in extreme pain and unable to stand upright. It looked like I was going to have to take muscle relaxers and miss the entire wedding I flew 3,000 to get to because I couldn't stand. I called Grant and told my situation to his voicemail. I've been seeing Grant for NAET acupuncture treatments and so far they have been effective. I'm about a third of the way through the treatments - I'll post an update all about the successes/curiosities of NAET when I'm done. I recommend NAET to anyone with environmental or food sensitivities who is seeking a natural, and non-invasive method of allergy elimination. If you're new to NAET, Grant has a way of explaining the procedure in a very rational, practical way. NAET won't heal you overnight - it takes patience and dedication, but I am so excited to continue this journey and become a healthier person. Grant is very personable and knowledgeable. I feel comfortable asking him questions about TCM, and he engages me in conversation about whatever's on my mind. I'll start this review by stating that I've never tried acupuncture or cupping. So with no prior knowledge (other than what I could find on google) and a very knotted upper back I scheduled my first visit with Grant. He made me feel very comfortable and began our first appointment with a discussion. He was very attentive and talked me through exactly what the treatment would consist of and provided his expert opinion on what issues I could be experiencing. I went to Grant because I broke my shoulder a couple years ago and have had really bad muscle spasms in my neck ever since. People kept encouraging me to try acupuncture, and so in spite of my nerves and skepticism, I finally made an appointment. Grant was very approachable and put me at ease almost immediately. He was totally straight-up - no talking about Yin and Yang or Xi or any of this loo-la kind of business. At the same time, he was friendly and very knowledgeable-seeming. I was visiting friends in New Orleans when I came down with a pretty awful sinus infection. I want to start by saying that I am very picky about who I go to for acupuncture. I've been to the best of the best in Los Angeles - 2 different acupuncturists at different times in my life, who are the most highly regarded in LA. That said, when I was looking for someone comparable in NOLA I sought out Grant and I was not disappointed. The great thing about Grant is that not only is he loving, caring and just so nice, he is also extremely skilled at where to put the needles. With acupuncture, if the needles are just off a little bit you won't feel much different after the treatment. With Grant, he listens to you about what your issues are that day, and then he skillfully inserts the needles so that within 5 minutes you start feeling the change happen. I have a repetitive motion injury in my shoulder from overextending my arms while doing hair (over 16 year time span). Grant has been the only person to provide relief on a long tern basis.
