Absolutely beautiful course. Playing for 6 to 7 hours everytime we go is not fun. This was the second time we've come here and your waiting 25 to 30 minutes a hole and the staff didn't seem to care. You have huge back up on the 1st tee and a starter? What's the point? You can't allow groups of 8 or a family learning to golf on a Saturday at 11 am. read more

Course is in decent shape. Prices could be better. I played on a weekday and was almost paying the rate for weekend golf.

Poor condition for course for the price bunkers have no sands or filled with water greens have hundreds of ball marks that never get replaced- and worst of all the staff- rude starters- rude pro shop employees just a poor course with a poor management and mentality of employees here is terrible- zero customer service. read more

Good thing I play there every 35 years; won't ever be tempted again. My wife wanted to go out for nine holes. This was convenient. I wasn't looking for America's greatest golf course, just a quick round With her. But I never expected this. #1 ... Arrive for our tee time; no one in the pro shop to take our money. No one showed for over five minutes, leaving everything wide open. Finally, got that done. #2 ... Went to snack bar for some iced tea. Attendant behind the bar too busy watching a guy bitching to someone over the phone. Another five minutes wasted. #3 ... The course - if that's what you want to call it - was terrible. No fairways, just the same crabgrass - some cropped 1/2 inch lower. Tee boxes and "fairways" full of weeds. The greens were just more of the same crappy turf as the rest of the course. #4 ... On-course supervision - non-existent! Most decent courses have some type of attendant roaming to insure pace-of-play and player etiquette. Our first (and only) sighting was on the 9th tee, when he showed up, indignant about something, with the accusatory tone of "Do you have a problem?" #5 ... Problems? We had plenty! There was the four-some in front of us, ignorant that given no one in front of them should have been courteous in allowing my wife and me to play through ... ... two guys trying to overcome the obvious "shrinkage" of their "packages", swinging so hard, playing "army golf" (left/right/left ...); ... two women trying to prove that their $20 "quickies" weren't a rip-off, giggling at their "whiffs" and spending more time flirting. #6 ... Problems? Then there was the two-some behind us, obviously believing we were the problem. So, their "big-hitter" decided to just hit into us, and not shout out any warning ... not just once, but THREE TIMES ... intentionally! On the eighth hole, the drive landed 8 ft from where I was standing. Avoid this course at all cost. And I say this, knowing that I'm going to be in the dog-house with many of the fine people I know that will be upset over this review. But, with Gleneagles, merely a couple miles away in Twinsburg, Solon should consider repurposing this property. Grantwood had it's time; hell I used to love going there 50+ years ago and trying to hit my dad's old shag balls through open box-car doors on trains. But, it's time is over. read more

I go to the driving range to hit balls. Use cash or credit at the machine in the shelter to get your bucket of balls. Be sure the basket is under the ball shoot or you'll be picking up balls. The putting green is free. read more

Rude and expensive. We went to the driving range. I didn't bring my own clubs and wanted to borrow a driver. They actually charged us for this privilege. Later we saw a sign stating it was free and asked to have our money refunded. The cashier changed his story a few times before finally giving in. Apparently they don't feel the need to follow their own posted rules. We also saw several people in violation of their posted dress code. Maybe these things are trivial but I really hate the idea of just selectively enforcing the rules. The facilites are nice, they have a driving range with heated booths and a covered area so you don't have to be in the sun. It's very quiet and peaceful but the vibe was already ruined by the rude cashier. read more

Even though I live here in Solon, I won't play Grantwood again. Over the past few years the course has been in, at best, mediocre condition and poorly maintained. Also, the pro shop staff are rude and do not appreciate their paying customers. To make matters worse, the green fees are a poor value. read more

Grantwood Golf Course - The range - Golf Near Me - Solon, Ohio

Grantwood is a great course to play when you are just learning the game. There's not a ton of water and most holes have wide open play. I have showed up here several times without a tee time and didn't have any trouble getting out on the course. There's something to be said for playing nine and only losing one ball. That being said, the course browns up during the summer and some days the greens look a little beat up, but it is probably one of the better public courses in the area and the price is right. read more

Expensive. Rude. And many other words that I can't say on this website. Can someone explain to me why you would let multiple twosomes out on a SATURDAY MORNING and then tell a foursome to hurry up after they let all the twosomes through? I am an avid golfer who used to live in Cleveland and now lives in Vegas. I have played courses back in Cleveland until I moved out to Vegas in 2005 and have never seen such stupidity at a course. read more

A few weeks ago we paid for 18holes including a cart, Just before making the turn to the back 9 the starter told everyone a big storm was coming and we should not continue. We got a rain check for the back 9 and returned a few weeks later, they accepted the rain check then said we owed $11.00. I asked for what? Attendant said that was for weekday fee and this is the weekend, we explained that the day we got rained out, date is on the raincheck, WAS THE WEEKEND, A Saturday. He says, that'll be $11.00, So I handed him the 11bucks and vowed I would NEVER EVER return! read more

I will never attempt to play at this course again. Admittedly part of the situation was our fault but the way in which we were treated at Grantwood is unacceptable. We had a 4 some scheduled to play during their twilight hour which they do make clear you have to pull out by 6:15. One of our 4 got stuck in traffic and we had the cart loaded and ready to go at 6:16. The pro shop attendant ran outside and told us we can't have our cooler (not a problem can easily go back into the car) and that we missed the deadline so could not play. When I asked him could we have a refund his first question was did we pay. 4 black men with keys to the golf cart in hand, and the man who we paid to play asked us did we pay. This is completely unacceptable. To make matters worse the gentleman who was in front of us in line at the pro shop pulled around to the starting hole after 6:15 and he said nothing at all about his twosome playing. The pro shop attendant gave us a refund and some free range balls but I have to ask what was his problem with us playing. The pro shop attendants attitude was so bad before the same man who he let play asked him inside why does he always have an attitude problem. If this is how Grantwood treats paying customers I'm not giving them any more of my money. read more

From Michigan and on business. Had late afternoon time to kill, hit this course for 9 by myself. Another local course would not let me play alone in a tee time! The people here were nice and had no problems. Course is not super challenging, but that was fine. It is in nice shape and I enjoyed the round. Will probably go back. read more

Played this course on 6/5/2016 with a 3:10 tee time. After an hour's worth of rain delays, we are wrapping up the round on #17. Mind you, it is 6:40. Playing quick due to the rain keeping others away. The cart boy comes to us on #17 and says we have to bring in the cart immediately since all carts need to be in by 6:30 and it is now 6:40. WHAT?!?! I've never heard such a rule, let alone in the middle of the summer when it's light until 9pm. I told the kid we only had one hole to play and would bring it in as we finish. He said this was unacceptable and I had to bring the cart in and if we wanted to finish our round, we could carry our bags to finish out the round. I play 50 rounds a year and have never heard of such a ridiculous stance on carts. I understand it if darkenss has set in, but it is 6:40...in June...with multiple other groups still playing the course. Good thing I got a discounted rate. I would never pay full price to play a course that treats customers like this. read more
