Took my daughter to get a tattoo because she wanted one that matched mine. Maddy did such an amazing job that I wanted her to add to my piece so that it didn't look so much less impressive than my girls. She made the appt soon and we were both running late. By the time I got there she had gone home feeling very ill. Before she left she called me to make sure it was ok if another artist worked on my piece. He did a great job on the moon, Saturn and stars but he did not go over the piece it was connecting with. When I text Maddy and told her I wished that I had seen her because she was amazing and cared to go over the old piece so that it all looked good together. She was very sweet and apologetic , made an appt quickly. She added two new constellations, went over both of the original constellations and tied them all together with stars. Her lines are straight, sharp, clean. First piece that is not on my back and is visible to me. I love it!! Can't wait for her to do the next 3 pieces I already have picked out! read more

I cannot speak higher about Tyler at Grape Ape Tattoo!! I went originally for one piercing, which turned into 4, which turned into me returning for a tattoo! The time Tyler took to make sure my piercings were perfect, and to make sure I got exactly what I wanted, and the care he took while piercing the very delicate (ehm downstairs) area showed just how serious he takes his job, and how passionate he is about it!! Because of the interactions he and I had, and the great piercing job he did, I decided to work with him on a tattoo. Ive been wanting to get my bellybutton repierced for a while, today I happened to run across an offer for a piercing in exchange for allowing the process to be photographed and a few after shots, why not! Ive been here before for a tattoo by Maddie and I loved the environment. I met Tyler who was absolutely wonderful! I told him about my past experiences with the bellybutton piercings, he confirmed that the last 2 were done incorrectly which is why they caused much more discomfort than normal and ended up with me removing them. I was a bit uneasy about having it done the 3rd time n but he really took his time with placement, allowing me to see and adjust the position if needed. He got it right on the first try! I've been going to this shop for almost 4 years now and I've easily racked up about 40+ hours in tattoos. All the work that I have had done on me has been by one single guy (the owner, Jimmy) and I have always been satisfied with the work he's put towards me. These guys are always willing and able to work around scheduling to get the clients in, always open to doing any sort of work the customer wants on them, and if need be, you can leave any sort of artistic interpretation in their hands knowing that whatever they decide to do will be up to you. The pricing is reasonable, the shop is in a great spot (right next to a coffee shop) and the employees are always fun to hang around with. This is a picture of the cover up tattoo I got at Grape Ape. I am very satisfied with it. It was so important to me to get this tattoo done and cover up the old one. Before this I was strictly wearing long sleeves for over one year to hide the previous tattoo. I'm really confident now wearing short sleeves with my new tattoo. Called about 10 other shops for walk-in availability and no dice. I get it, last minute is annoying. Not to mention I'm neurotic about where I get ink. My friend and I were on a week long trip and needed some BWG tats to commemorate our time in my favorite place ever. I called in and they were like hell yeah, cactuses are dope, let's do it. I laughed, because cactus tattoos in Arizona are like getting a f****** palm tree in Florida. Walked in and everyone was super chill. Emily is fantastic, so personable and made the entire experience that much better. It was my friends first tattoo and I'm thrilled that she was able to get it done here. GREAT first time experience! Aaron and Justin are the most down-to-earth tattoo artists I have ever met. They know how to make you feel right at home where you can be yourself. Best tattoo experience I've ever had. After my first tattoo with Jimmy, I have twice driven from L.A. to Tucson with friends to get their work done by him! Jimmy helped me design a rad custom reworking of my existing tattoo, and kept the shop open until midnight to get it done before I left town. He does killer line work and shading, mixes the best of traditional designs with custom art. Super clean and fun shop environment, too. The other tattooers in the shop seem equally skilled from what I saw, but I'm sticking with Jimmy. read more

Aaron was fantastic and accommodating! We were coming into town for our grandmother's 92nd birthday and didn't want to be around to many people. That week was also my little sister's bday and I wanted to surprise her with sister tattoos. Aaron opened the shop at 8:30 am just for us. Let me start off with some context. Came into the shop not really knowing what I wanted but I needed to cover up a tattoo. Got a tattoo here about 1.5 years ago. Sammy did a Medusa piece for me on my thigh. We thought it might take a couple sessions at first but he finished it in about 2.5 hours. I came in with three friends; me and one of my friend were getting cartilage piercings, and our two other friends were getting belly button piercings. Tyler did all of our piercings so quickly and easily, and answered every *annoying* question we had.
