Newt helped me out and was super gentle and helpful, changing out my super freshly pierced nose didn't hurt even a little bit. They were so great, I wanted them specifically to pierce my belly button like 2 years later. They were super gentle n did great with that too. Simple place to get a last minute piercing. Called before we came to get pierced and luckily they had time for walk ins. There was 3 of us. We waited maybe 45min. There were some discrepancies in the prices, since we talked to multiple employees. Seems to have communicated the information differently. Friendly staff though. Piercing prices are moderate, not the cheapest but they have a good variety of jewelry. The piercer is very very nice and knowledgeable. I really cannot say enough positive things about Danny. I'm from out of town (Pennsylvania) and my friend and I are visiting Tucson. We wanted cactus tattoos as souvenirs. The initial shop was closed for three days and I couldn't wait. I did some research, found that Theo at Black Rose would take me in the morning. He was awesome. I was running late and he was so patient. He was gentle swapping out the earrings since the fresh piercings were so tender. Even with the new earrings in some tender piercings, I was surprised by how much of a relief it was to have a flat back rather than the butterfly. Danny was so amazing! I contacted him two days before I was in town, and he put so much thought and time into my design. This was my first ever tattoo--for my 18th birthday--and he was extremely patient although I'm sure I took much longer than most customers to prepare for the session. And he did an amazing job with my tattoo. It was so much less painful than I expected, and the line work was beautiful. He was really kind and friendly and communicated great before and during the appointment. The experience was perfect. Four of my friends came with me and all got piercings, and they had similarly wonderful experiences. We were all blown away and walked away very happy. I'm reallyy disappointed with the piercing I got back at the beginning of September. I don't usually write bad reviews but I feel so much like I wasted my money:( I had pierced my septum a twice in high school and both times had to take it out before it was fully healed because of issues with my parents. I decided when I moved out to get it redone professionally. The experience was a good one when I went in, but I did specify I didn't want the piercing too high that the balls of the jewelry touched my nose. After Amri (my piercer) showed me the outcome it was absolutely higher than I wanted as the balls were touching my nose (jewelry wasn't hanging AT ALL). I was a bit bummed but I figured it hang a little more after swelling went down and I was just happy to have it done. Almost 6 months later it still didn't seem completely healed even though I was very rigid about doing a soak 3 times a day my first 4 months. At first I thought it might be from scar tissue from having it pierced previously. About a week ago I took it out to change the jewelry and was heart crushed. The piercing was too high for me to even see the hole inside my right nostril. I think that that hole was too close to my cartilage and thats why it wasn't healing. I also noticed the hole in the left nostril was significantly lower. Was pretty devastated that it was crooked, too high, and potentially braised my septum cartilage. I didn't even attempt to put it back in. I'm going to let it heal and if I ever get it done go somewhere else! Not sure if this was just an off day, but I did my own septum better in high school. I'm just super sad that I don't have a septum again when it was not cheap for me to invest in a professional. read more

The shop is clean, the artists are eclectic and chatty, and the music is great! This is not a Las Vegas or LA celebrity tattoo shop--these guys and girls are SERIOUS about the art and helping you get the art that you want. I had a lot of design elements I wanted incorporated into my art--and I would send Phil my design via email or text/picture, and without exception he took what I wanted and made it better--way better. After waiting over an hour and a half, Sharon declined to give me a tattoo just because I don't look like your typical girl with tattoos, even though I have 3. My friend and I went into Black Rose one Friday night and walked out with an appointment a week later. Our tattoos were done by Harrison--he's absolutely AMAZING. He was so helpful and patient, changing my design as many time as it took for me to love it. He was also really respectful, I got my tattoo on the side of my breast and when he noticed how embarrassed I was, he took me into the private piercing room to get the design set up so I wouldn't have to feel exposed in front of the other customers. There was another employee (Nino) helping two customers while we were there and he was extremely friendly too. They both created a great environment for someone as nervous as I was. TLDR; The shop is really clean, the employees knowledgable and talented, and the entire experience was professional and fantastic.
