where do i start... this was the best day of my life. first off, our guide, chris, was AWESOME. super knowledgeable and interesting -- we really enjoyed chatting to him. request this man. he's so dope. by the end of the tour i was #hammered. seriously. you get like 4-5 glasses of wine at each winery (there are three!), and the pours? they're solid. knowing i didn't have to drive made me throw these babies (glasses of wine) back FAST. especially because the van was super comfy too. i felt safe with chris driving. he's a great driver, i'm glad he has a license! overall, between the guide and the wine, this wine tour was a 10/10. i seriously debated just booking the afternoon tour immediately after but apparently you can't do that. fair! i love you grape escape! read more

He was so interesting, fun and gave us so much information about the area and the wines. He took us to three wineries and we had an outstanding dinner after that at The Cannery. We did the lunch tour on a Sunday. There were 3 couples total on the tour. Our guide Pete was absolutely fantastic! He was so friendly and knowledgeable. He took the time to answer questions and tell us about the history of the area and wine. He made the tour so fun! The wineries were great too - all family owned, super cute, and the wines were fantastic. I didn't think I was going to buy any wine, but ended up getting at least one bottle from each stop! I booked a wine tour and gourmet lunch with Grape Escapes for my best friends 40th birthday. Everything was organized well and on time. The guy at the grape escapes location was kind of frosty, not the most friendly person so it kind of started our excited day off a little rocky, but Thom our guide for the day was amazing. He was friendly, asked what we were celebrating and made us feel so welcomed, especially the birthday girl. We stopped off at Jackson Triggs first. We were a little early so we had a few samples before the tour began. Our guide Colin was friendly, knowledgeable and took pictures of us wherever we wanted. He was so funny as well, and a plus the other couple we were on the tour with were awesome so we had a wonderful time. We had four wines there and the tour lasted 45 minutes. We had enough time to browse and purchase wines after. Next was Nomad wineries. Nice, family owned winery. It had some amazing wines. We had three samples there and toured a bit before heading off to our final stop. It was a small winery, and the guide was so high energy, which made the tour fun. We tried four samples there. Lunch was at Oliv restaurant. Three courses of yumminess, which was needed after all the drinking. It was worth the money, everything from beginning to end was great and the birthday girl had an amazing time! read more

A weekend in Niagara on the Lake wouldn't be complete without a Wine Tour! Being fitness minded, we embarked on an epic bike tour courtesy of Grape Escapes. We met at their bike haven and met our saucy tour guide, Marcy. Our group had 12 people, but she had no trouble keeping us entertained and in line. We went to 4 wineries and had guided tours and tastings there. The only food on the tour was with 2 tastings, so eat before you go! They provide a bottle of water, but in the summer, I'd recommend bringing another. The bikes have a small pouch, but it's not big enough for a bag, so backpacks are better to bring than a purse. It took about 4 hours in total and it was a great ride and tour. I'd do it again! read more

He was amazing and super knowledgeable! we were picked up at the hotel and driven to meet up with others on the tour. we had never been on a wine tour before and it was so fun. To be honest, this was way overpriced. While it was a great experience at the wineries we realized all we were paying for was transportation. The tastings at the individual wineries were around $10 Canadian for the same amount we got from the tour. So if you break down the price, the cost of the tastings were only $40... putting $130 for transportation for 4 hours for 2 people. Next time I will not spend an arm and a leg and will organize my own tour. Not only did we have to pay for transportation but our guide left us at one location for an hour when the tasting was only 30 minutes... we were stuck there for 30-40 mins with nothing to do and were stuck waiting on her. We also ended the tour 30-40 mins early... so in reality we could have gone to at least one if not two more wineries in the amount of time that was wasted by the driver. Additionally the "cheese pairing" was not a cheese pairing at all. It was a plastic plate with what looked like cut up sliced cheese from the grocery store. Nothing unique or special or gourmet about the cheese. The staff was very nice and knowledgable but I would have rather spent the money on more tastings than transportation. Won't pay for this again this way, didn't feel we got our money's worth. read more

Best booked wine tour experience. Usually when I am wine touring, the Okanagan BC, I start off driving and someone else has to take over as DD cuz I'll be hammered after the first stop. So of course denounced to me that booking a Bicycle Wine Tour in Niagara-on-the-Lake was a great idea. We started the tour with a shuttle ride from Niagara - Falls to the Lake, along the river side we learned a lot of history, a mini tour of the rapids, drive by the flower clock, (wtf) and a view of the bridges to bring you back to Canada from the other side of the river, and a whip around the cute town on Niagara-on-the-Lake. Now for the good stuff, after we got bike fitted, or plopped, we started our ride. and at the first stop before I was drunk I decided to fall off my bike after I had come to a complete stop. You know, just to get the fall out of the way, get drunk, and not feel the pain. (you get it). Plentiful amounts a beer was poured to easy my side. PondView Vineyard was phenomenal, our wine connoisseur was practically fancy with his wine drinking demonstration that made the wine aerating through the mouth and cheese eating so much more fun. Lunch at Iniskilin was very good, simple and complex when paired with their good Pino Grigio. The last winery I cannot remember the name of but it was of German decent, and even though they had a feel of unpreparedness the chocolate and wine was delectable. The bike ride back to the escape office was a drunkenly good time, all mostly landing on the sidewalk. At the end of it all, I did feel like I got a great expereince's worth for my money spent with Grape Escape. read more

LOVED THE SMALL, INTIMATE GROUPS THAT THEY OFFER! It was my favourite part to be honest! My significant other planned a Wine Tour on Sat. July 22nd for my Birthday, and I am so glad he did! We went on the Afternoon Wine/Cheese Tour, and we were even picked up (on time) at our Hotel. I was so excited. The groups were small! There was about 12 of us on the tour! A bachelorette party (who was quite rowdy, but fun), an older couple celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary and myself and my partner! The tour guide's name was Ian, and he was such a doll. Anytime anyone had purchased wine, he was the first one there to grab it, put your name on it and bring it back to the vehicle. It was a small little gesture that went a long way! We visited 4 wineries in the area, and what I loved was that they were all fairly close to one another! And what I really liked, was the venture out to the wineries was only about 30 minutes from Downtown Niagara Falls! One of things I didn't want was a 1+ hour of commuting, and not enough wine tasting! They did such a great job choosing the wineries to visit. As mentioned, we visited 4 wineries, and at each winery, we always had an exclusive server! It was very small and intimate. At each winery, we generally tried 2-3 wines, and then 1-2 Ice Wines - which was my favourite as I have never had Ice Wine before! What I would have loved though, is I wish the wineries put more time into explaining their grapes, their processes, tips/tricks, showing us around to the cellars, etc. The only winery that was outstanding in this respect was Lakeview Winery and our host was named Maggie - she was incredibly knowledgeable! Maybe it was just me, but I wanted to experience the winery just as much as the wines (but I'm sure there are others who beg to differ! haha) And as a last note, we only had cheese at 1 winery... and I was looking for more at the others - maybe cheese, or some crackers. Did the afternoon bike tour with Dave and it was great!! It was raining so they gave us ponchos and seat covers. The ride was great and not too bad for us despite the fact we haven't been on bikes in years!! The three wineries were also wonderful, lots of options -- total of 9-10 tastings and one place gave us cheese, crackers and delicious Hot pepper Chardonnay jelly which we also bought. One of the best Sunday mornings ever! We opted for the bike wine tour, and that was most certainly the way to explore this region. Gwen, our guide, was fabulous (and safety conscious, of course!), filled with information, plus helped us get the best tour guide and wine pourers at each of the wineries we visited. We couldn't have a girls weekend in NOTL without wine! I booked the Grape Escape afternoon wine tour and we had a great time! The tour is from 1pm to 5pm and visits 4 wineries in the area for $64 (from NOTL). The driver showed up at our hotel on-time and our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. There were 4-5 groups in the bus. Depending on how many other people book, the vehicle is different. We were still able to hear the guide as he explained the different grape growing regions and gave us historical information. We stopped in at 4 wineries (3 smaller, 1 larger). There was a cheese pairing that was a nice treat. You definitely want to eat before the tour and I brought my own carb-loaded snacks. I would have to say we were treated well at each of the stops, but it is very "in and out". Because the group was large, you did have to wait for samples and also to purchase items. When I called to reconfirm and ask questions, the customer service was prompt and excellent. I would go with Grape Escapes again, but I'd consider the individual group booking rather than the wine bus! read more

The experience was nice and the three wineries we went to were all wonderful. Everyone was very informed and the tastings themselves were spot on. However I feel the whole thing was over priced. To do tastings and/or tours individually, it would cost roughly $7 a person. So you really paid for their transportation which really was not worth it. You also paid for the convenience of being served right away for the tastings too. If I were to do it again, I would just winery hop and do a tasting on my own. read more

I booked this tour after doing some research on Trip Advisor. The first person I talked to (and fortunately got as our guide) was Rich. He was very informative, confirmed our reservation and was very punctual when picking us up. I hate it when people are late. So, it set the positive tone for the day. Maybe we were lucky, maybe this company attracts cool people. In any case, we were paired with two amazing couples! We all had a blast, chatting, tasting fantastic wines - including ice wines (OMG where have these been all my adult life??? I can drink this all day, every day) and having a generally great time together. We ended up going to 6 different wineries, tasting wines from about 11AM until 4PM. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Niagara Falls and Rich really made it a positive experience. If you're looking for a wine tour, Grape Escape is the one you should book with! Tip: DO NOT miss the Colaneri winery and if available, ask for Mama Colaneri. Myself and two of my friends I've known since Elementary School had a wonderful afternoon tour with Diane of Grape Escape last Sunday. We were joined by a Columbian couple from Barrie who were great fun and it really was an excellent day all round. Perfect company, perfect weather and a great selection of wines and scenery. Diane is a warm and wonderful host/guide with a joyful, larger than life personality that really added something to the tour. We were supposed to go to four wineries but actually went to five, all different in size, style and the wine produced. All of the wineries were excellent choices and I think offered us a very good sampling of what the Niagara region has to offer. I managed to somehow buy 13 bottles of wine (much to my surprise when I counted them at home) as well as some truly spectacular cheeses. One of my friends left her sweater in the van so we called to see if we could pick it up and were told that the office was closed and Diane had gone to dinner with the van. We told the person on the phone that we were having dinner too and that we'd call back after dinner to see if we could pick up the sweater. Diane the dear, went that extra mile and popped around to our restaurant to deliver the sweater to us. We have experienced both the bike and driven tours & both were great! Last year we did the bike tour, which was a ton of fun. This year we decided to try out the driven tour & it was great too. Both times we booked online. The van tour was convenient because they picked us up from our Airbnb and thus we didn't have to drive at all! As a birthday present for my best friend and partner in crime, I treated my bf to a wine tour on the July 1st weekend. Our experience was definitely a fantastic one! Our tour guide, Dianne, was an absolute delight to have with us for the afternoon. She was courteous, friendly, and professional. We made four stops to different wineries and had ample amounts of tasting. We also had a dinner at Oliv. The tour itself was awesome - the dinner was good too but not excellent. Our server at Oliv was fantastic but the food really lacked artistic presentation, considering it was supposed to be a fine dining experience. I was really hoping for a more whimsical and flavourful meal at the end. However, the food was not bad by any means. Overall, I did quite enjoy this tour but perhaps they will need to revisit their restaurant choices to see if there are any other places they can partner up with. read more

We walked around the village in the morning and had lunch before meeting the group. Ted, our tour guide, was fantastic. He's so nice and extremely knowledgeable about both wine and local history. What a fantastic experience! Some friends recommended this tour and we couldn't have been more impressed! Brian was our driver and he was awesome! We appreciated how he pointed out the historic sites of the region, as well as took our purchases and placed them in a box for us. He also took pictures of us! Rich was also awesome. I booked a half day wine tasting tour for 2 as a part of my Niagara Falls trip earlier this summer and it was a great tour! The booking process was a smooth phone transaction and they followed up a few days before my trip to confirm timing and meeting place. The day of the trip, google maps decided to fail me and we were about to miss our tour! Luckily, the driver agreed to pick us up at our location. He told me he would be driving in a red van and to keep my eyes peeled..which caused me to run halfway down a block after a totally different red van..whoops! After we got picked up, he drove us to wine country to pick up 2 more couples. Along the way, the driver gave us tons of anecdotes about Niagara and made the time fly by. The wineries we went to were a good mix of the large super techy ones to the little family owned ones. Wonderful bicycle tour! If you are looking to tour the wineries of the NOTL area, and have an open afternoon, I definitely recommend this tour. They meet at the Kurtz Orchard, with an ample free parking lot available, and then they wait for everyone that reserved to join. Very thoughtful tour guides! The bike ride is beautiful, and the pace is good for everyone. We visited 4 wineries, and they all offered at least 3 wines to taste (usually a red, a white, and a dessert wine). In a winery we also had a cheese pairing, and an historical background note from the local experts. The guides will also allow time for pictures and to relax between a winery and the other. We left at about 1.15pm, and came back around 5.15pm. Highly recommended! read more

My boyfriend and I arranged a car tour from 1-5 pm on a Monday and had an absolutely wonderful time with Bob as our tour guide. There were only 8 guests in total, all couples, some young and old which was a great variety of people. We traveled to 5 different wineries, tasted some amazing wines and got a great tour of one estate. Bob was AMAZING! He was so knowledgable, we knew information about Niagara-on-the-lake and an overview of the wine industry and tourism before we even arrived at the first estate for the tour. He was extremely friendly and organized our tasting before we even walked into the door of the estate. He provided a friendly and easy-going manner and is definitely the reason we would go back. i would love to try the bike tour next time and stroll through the NOTL region. The only thing i wish - MORE WINE!!! Thank you so much for your hospitality and this is a really great tour to take when you are visiting. You will not only understand each estate, you will understand the city of NOTL. We did the morning Wine and Cheese Tour. We biked to 3 different wineries. There were 3-4 samples at each and Icewine tasting at 2 of the 3 wineries. The scenery while biking was amazing. It got a little hot as we were getting back to the shop after our tour, but it is the middle of July so that is expected. They provided water from the start which was nice. The bikes also had a nice bag attached to the handlebars for your belongings. If you made purchases at the wineries they had a staff member take them back to the shop so that we didn't have to lug bottles of wine around while riding a bicycle. read more

I wanted to give 2 stars, but gave one extra because our guide Dwayne was fantastic, arrived on time and was a great wealth of knowledge. That said, we would not book a tour again. We were a group of 3 couples, and were surprised that the van was so small. It was a regular 6 seater mini van, and so getting in and out was tough and the van very loud inside. We really enjoyed the Jackson & Triggs tour which was 1 hour, and very thorough - we got to see the vineyard, inside the winery and where they age the barrels. We were explained a lot of the history and the process of making the various wines. The next 3 wineries, however, were get in, drink, get out - little to no explanation beyond a few words on their wineries' history, and very rushed. We were also told the afternoon tour would be "wine and cheese" - only 1 winery provided cheese, and it was 3 v. small chunks with crackers. By the third winery I stopped drinking, I had a rockin headache from too much wine on a light stomach and really didn't get my money's worth (as I wasn't learning anything either). What was worse, the wineries were also hosting a 'sip and sizzle' event where you could get an unlimited pass for wine paired with hot food, however as we weren't considered part of that, we couldn't get the food pairings (we literally had a 'please take my money' moment, to no avail. And it smelled really, really good). Our tour guide mentioned that the company he drove for, Dannels, rents cars and drivers out to take people to and from wineries of their choice. If we decided to do a wine tour again, I would research the wineries that give more of a tour and less of a in-and-out experience, and hire our own driver for the day. read more

We booked the dinner wine tour after having to reschedule during a snowstorm back in January. Rich was extremely professional during the whole process and the company was great at accommodating us. Our tour guide bob arrived a little early and was informative, friendly, and seemed to know everyone at all the wineries. He even boxed our wine for us from each of the stops! Our tour guide, Rob, was incredibly kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. Even down to the fact that we had two Allies in our group - one Alli and one Allie - Rob always made sure to properly label our purchases. Everything ran so smoothly, and he even tried to get us into a 5th winery last minute. It didn't work out, but by no fault of Rob's - he tried calling 14 times, but they didn't answer. We had a lovely tour of five different wineries with Diane. The area itself is beautiful, so you really just have to sit back and observe the gorgeous surroundings. I'd give it five stars but we found it a bit overpriced (they're just driving you around, after all). We also found the cheese platter a bit lacking. The amount/variety was okay, but there were literally five crackers to split among five adults. For the price ($60 pp), you think they'd throw in a baguette or something. All that said, it's a good beginner tour, but next time we'll find our way between wineries on our own (e.g., on bikes, with a designated driver, etc.). read more
