I gave advanced notice that I thought my couch and box spring would not fit in the elevator. These guys were willing to take on 11 floors. However, always trust the professionals to find a way! Grassroots was referred to us by a trusted person and their prices (cash discount) was too good to pass up. We had a 4 person crew show up a few minutes earlier than their scheduled time so we could do a quick walkthrough before they started charging, right away I knew I liked these guys. They got to work right away and moved at lighting speed. My favorite thing was that they were having fun while working, they kept joking around and having great banter back and forth and their work rate didn't dip one bit. They loaded a 24 foot truck completely and another 24 footer about halfway in 1.5 hours! We headed over to my storage unit (we don't close on our next house for another three weeks) and the crew was able to pack everything into a 10*20 unit.........nothing short of magical! All in all, it was about a 4.5 move for a full 3 bedroom house with a basement. I can't recommend these guys enough, they aren't just extremely hard workers but they had a smile on their face the whole time. The full package!!! My home is sold and the closing is at 2pm on Tuesday, May 31, 2016. I set up an appointment with Two Men and their truck for moving day to be Friday, May 27, 2016 which turned out to be a no call and no show. On Saturday, 5.28.16, I was able to speak to Geoff w/GrassRoots and was able to schedule an appointment for Tuesday, 5.31.16. Geoff assured me that the crew would have be moved by 1:30pm. I was researching for movers and I looked on the Next Door App if anyone had requested recommendations for movers. Grassroots Moving had excellent ratings and were highly recommended by people in my surrounding neighborhoods. So just as predicted...when I called to inquire it was very swift and prompt.i spoke with Geoff and he was very professional and helpful. I asked questions, got answers and set a date. They were all professional and courteous from the initial call to the moment they unloaded the last item off the truck. Even helping us put some items together( the ones we needed help with). They had to maneuver in some small areas and got a couch into the basement by taking parts off and trying different angles and my son was very happy. To backtrack a little as soon as the crew arrived they introduced themselves to us and were very respectful. The weather was at least 96 degrees outside and in the truck was even hotter and we had to use 3 trucks. Those guys were troopers and I tried to make sure they were drinking plenty of water. This is a local small business and they were a great team. There were no hidden costs and the rate and the work were completed as agreed. Moving day always sounds like a bad day but these guys made it go faster and kept the mood happy. I wish I had thought to take pictures because these guys took great care of our furniture and belongings. Thank you Grassroots Moving! I called GrassRoots Moving this morning to get an estimate for moving a sofa and recliner out of our basement and to Goodwill. Not only did they give me an estimate that was significantly cheaper than the one the other moving company gave me, but they got to our house and had the furniture moved out of our basement within an hour of my initial phone call. I HIGHLY recommend using GrassRoots moving. This was my first time using movers and I was a bit apprehensive (especially because the service can be expensive!), but once Juan, Alfonso, and Johnny arrived I knew the day would go smoothly. The best part of this team was that they came ready to work. At every moment during our move, all 3 team members were doing their best to move our stuff quickly and carefully. Our GrassRoots Moving Team fully recognized that a moving service can be expensive and they were constantly assuring me (both with their actions and their words) that they'd perform our move as efficiently as possible. They successfully moved us from Glendale to Lakewood in under 2 hours (1 bedroom apartment), that's impressive! The cherry on top was that these guys were all nice with a good sense of humor. Moving is stressful for a variety of reasons and they cracked jokes throughout the move that kept my anxiety very low. Honestly, they made the move fun! The only slight improvement that I think the company could make is with communication prior to the move. The email exchange to get the quote and reserve the movers was very quick and efficient, but as it was just a few email exchanges I followed up the week before just to make sure we were all set (I got a quick reply and felt good about our move). I was however asked to confirm the move and answer a couple of questions about packing material the morning of, our move was at 10 and I received a text at 7. This felt a bit odd to me as I wondered what would have happened if I'd slept in that morning, seems like the confirmation could have occurred in the previous day. I'd imagine that this is perhaps because GrassRoots is a small local business and seems to be managed by one guy (who is great!). If you use the company, don't be wary of the short and sweet communication! GrassRoots is a very affordable, very reliable, moving company. 16/10 will recommend to all my friends!! read more

I've used GrassRoots twice now. This time was moving a couch across town. The guys showed up on time, were courteous and very careful (I could hear Geoff giving verbal cues to the other mover so they wouldn't damage the couch or the home). The prior time I used them for a larger move and I had some bumps. Overall, the move went well except for one problem. Moving is tough business and unexpected things happen. The true test of company is how it handles that problem if one comes up. After some initial disagreement, we were able to talk through a fair solution. Everything was made whole. I was impressed that the owner took the time to talk to me, understand my point of view, express his in a constructive way, and work our a resolution. It was all I could ask for, and walked away feeling very good about the service I received. There's not one moving company that does everything perfectly every time (or any company). The moving company we originally had reserved and paid a deposit to (Skinny Wimpy Movers - Do not use them!) canceled on us the morning of our move. We needed to move furniture back into the house from the garage after a wood floor installation. I think everyone is nervous when hiring a moving company. I was because I had expensive and heavy exercise equipment that needed to be moved. There were a couple minor mishaps but the guys sent out were eager to help and in the end rectified, very willingly I might add the minor mishaps. Anybody can move things from one spot to another. Theses guys truly take pride in what they do and aim to please. I paid slightly more than I would have elsewhere, but with these guys, the extra was very much worth it.
