Very lucky to have had enough time in my schedule to drop by this shop. I've been on the hunt for some new tinctures and heard that this little shop had a great selection of formulated and single formula tinctures. Its a neatly organized shop in a private parking lot shared with the multitude of other businesses there. I was able to utilize the chart they had on the wall to know the cost of each type of tincture based on name and size. The guy working was nice in telling me somewhat about the different kinds and what benefits they aim to do. I left with Heart (helps with anxiety, depression, and PTSD, balancing the cardiovascular system), Immunity Power (helps those with weakened or compromised immune systems to combat illness), and Fest Fuel (for future days of festival excursions and it also works when you're feeling burnt out from other things like working too much or going on a different type of trip - being overworked both emotionally and physically). So far, so good! I will most likely make this a go-to spot every time I'm within the area to pick up some goodies. :] read more

Beautiful little shop with a great selection of products. Very reasonably priced. And my favorite thing is you can saddle right up to the aromatherapy bar and make your own potion. I love doing this and it makes such nice gifts. They added a very pretty personalized label as well. My selection smelled amazing and it's such a wonderful unique thing to gift someone special. You'd probably be grateful for this herb shop if you're needing some herbal meds, I was very impressed with the selection and variety. I worked for a couple years at an herb store where we made custom teas and tincture blends, but also had a ton of other companies herbal tinctures, pills, teas, etc. Grateful Desert Herb Shoppe has all the herbal medicines one might need, plus soaps and balms, lotions and body care. There's also sage bundles, palo santo wooden sticks, handmade jewelry and natural home decor trinkets. Only downside is when we entered, there was not one other customer and the person behind the counter didn't even acknowledge us, and as we walked around, we decided to leave and again, I said, "thanks" and she barely looked up at us. They have an amazing selection of essential oils and tinctures as well as everything from Tibetan wraps, books, cacao and an Oracle deck from a local artist. The team is also very knowledgeable. But my far the best part is the scent bar and being able to work with the tram to blend custom scents based on the smell. I made 4 different ones over two visits. It was an amazing experience. Truly unique and each of my scents makes me so happy (I did two rollers to apply to the body, essential oil blend to be diffused and a spray. And each one I could create my own name for my blend! Magical. When I first came here I just couldn't process how magical the desert and the Grateful Desert Store. The aura and it's magic. A Happy Mama spray? Just reordered a new batch. There was a boo boo on the shipping and they resolved the issue immediately. I got my spray which will be in my maternity bag, why I ordered it. Yes, because internally I know it's coming from a spiritual place with healing powers. Something a mama wants when she brings her baby to earth. Grateful Desert family, thank you. Instead the person at the counter ignored us being there and continued talking business while they lost out on business today. Rude. Amazing!! This place has it all! So many herbal medicine options, natural shampoos, conditioners, soaps, lotions. And they all smell so lovely! & what else? It is extremely inexpensive!! This is especially true if you are from LA, you know these little shops down here charge a leg and an arm for quality herbal products like these. I wish I lived closer, because I would definitely come back! They had so many options and products, it was almost overwhelming (in a good way). I love Grateful Desert. This is where I load up on my tinctures, essential oils and sage bundles. The variety here is great when it comes to salves, skincare, plant medicine and more. I am blessed that Grateful Desert is here because it is rare to find such a shop like this. Sure Sprouts, Whole Foods etc will have a section of tinctures but the tinctures at Grateful Desert are made by the owner. Granted she carries other lines but I like that it feels more personal and for some reason I feel the medicine of the plant is stronger. Another great brand here is Lone Pine. Ladies when it comes to our moon time you gotta have Shark Week by Lone Pine it helps mellow me out and ease with the cramps. Also the Womyn's Blend made by Jenny Q (owner of Grateful Desert) is another one of my favorites to help ease with bloating and pain of my moon time. So, yes this place is awesome. If you are into herbs and want to make Nourishing Herbal Infusions, you can buy bulk herbs at the Joshua Tree Health Food Store next to Grateful Desert. They have an array of herbs and spices that you can buy by the oz or by the pound. Super grateful for both of these amazing shops in the desert. read more

Cool shop with organic soaps, creams, and oils. They have a chocolate section with great vegan selections. There was also an array of rings and jewellery with stones for purchase. I got the sense that they were mainly happy to serve those who looked uber hippy and it was a little disconcerting to hear the "medicinal advice" that was given to other customers regarding wound care but to each their own! read more

Oh my gosh this place is amazing! Jenny the owner and her staff are incredibly knowledgeable, warm, and welcoming it's literally everything you want out of a desert shop. Queer woman-owned organic products vegan products handmade products dope jewelry and on and on! We bought a few of the tinkatures and some are even pet friendly which is super exciting. My girlfriend and I are from Orange County so encountering a shop like this run by a person of color who was queer and a woman making products that are not up to butt expensive was a dream. This place has a remarkable array of herbs and art. I bought the most beautiful postcards here. The gentleman at the front was very kind and helpful, we spoke at length about the art on one of the walls, some postcards and a few herbal mixtures (as I had a specific need). It's a lovely store, a great resource for Joshua Tree. I need never take my herb bag with me because I can pick up whatever I come to need when I visit the desert right here. After visiting the farmers market near by I stumbled upon this place. Once I opened the door I was immediately welcomed with the smell of essential oils. This place has a really cool vibe and the staff were very helpful and kind. Their aroma bar had so many oils! I could spend hours smelling them all. I made a scent that suited me. Once my combination of oils were made, the staff member recorded it and saved it so that when I return I can have exactly what I made. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone. read more

Not only do you find remedies for many ailments through her tinctures, but there are also locally crafted products such as Kat & Brett's kreamy soaps (both in the box & the old school way they use to sale just raw good honest soap!), to "green" clothing made from rejected fabric that are fabulous, as well MiddleEastern staples such as olive oil, olives, and tahini (for your homemade hummus). Local artist James Hammons art can be found in the form of great mugs. This is what Joshua Tree was born to be and should remain to be....a healing resource...an oasis for those seeking good health.
