I was very pleasantly surprised at this grocery. Very clean. Fantastic selection of items in deli/bakery area. While I had no interaction with any staff, I can only assume (hopefully) they are helpful and friendly. The floral area was very nice as well. The cleanliness could be do to the newness of store, but I don't think so as they are competing with Publix less than a mile away. Prices are in same area as Publix it seems.

Entering the store on the right side at the front were several varieties of rices. I looked to the left and the cold section was the distance of the length of the store and stocked with several varieties of noodles, tofu's, vegetables, fresh fish, fresh shrimp and much more. There was NO SMELL from the seafood. I walked around the store admiring all the clean floors and shelves which is expected from a new business. The young man at the cash register was friendly and helpful. He didn't hover and I appreciated that. I purchased several items and was pleased with my grocery haul. I love that Publix has lots of BOGOs and is a "one stop shop" meaning you can get a take and bake dinner, a delicious house-made desert from their bakery, helium balloons (for a birthday for example), candles for the desert, a card from their large selection of greeting cards, fresh flowers, a gift card if needed, even high end champagne - just "soup to nuts" whatever you need for your regular grocery shopping or a special occasion. The employees go out of their way to help customers. This store has all the major items other Publix stores have plus which is great since it is smaller than the store on Whitesburg and the new store on South Memorial Parkway. The pharmacy employees all go out of their way to help customers. I use this Publix for one stop shopping where I can pick up prescriptions and grocery shop. Two of the pharmacy technicians know me by name and have my prescriptions ready for pickup when they see me in line. This store has been my go to for many years. It has a small town quaintness with big town benefits.

There was only one checkout line available and I was second in line with only a few items and the person in front had a large basket full. There was a younger man behind me, also with a few items. I asked if there were no express lines open and the cashier said no when all of the sudden a female employee from the front of the store motioned for the young man behind me to come to the front so she could check him out. I was frustrated because it looked like there was some favoritism going on based on ethnicity since they were both the same and I am white. I just left my basket of items and walked out, never to return. I'm not saying all of Publix has a preference in who gets good customer service, but it sure did look like they got at least one employee who does. I don't need this kind of stuff in my life and I'm happy to give my business to others since there are plenty of options other than Publix available. Publix lost a longtime customer today.
