Just a terrible experience with this Publix and won't be going back after being a good customer for a long time. There was only one checkout line available and I was second in line with only a few items and the person in front had a large basket full. There was a younger man behind me, also with a few items. I asked if there were no express lines open and the cashier said no when all of the sudden a female employee from the front of the store motioned for the young man behind me to come to the front so she could check him out. I was frustrated because it looked like there was some favoritism going on based on ethnicity since they were both the same and I am white. I just left my basket of items and walked out, never to return. I'm not saying all of Publix has a preference in who gets good customer service, but it sure did look like they got at least one employee who does. I don't need this kind of stuff in my life and I'm happy to give my business to others since there are plenty of options other than Publix available. Publix lost a longtime customer today. read more

I tried to find out what year this store opened. It feels like it was the 90s, but that would make it over 28 years old. I must be wrong about the year it opened. This is a convenient store as there are not a lot of grocery stores in this area. Over the years, I have used the pharmacy here, and bought groceries, sundries, and last-minute items from this Publix. It's tidy, well organized, well stocked, and clean. As others mentioned, it is a smaller Publix; however, top to bottom the staff do embrace and exude the Publix motto: "Where shopping is a pleasure!" This particular Publix is located basically on the corner of Madison Boulevard and Shelton Road. It appears to be a newer Publix and is both inviting and attractive, both inside and outside. There is a good amount of parking in the shopping plaza and since it is on Madison Boulevard, it is very convenient for people to stop on their way to here or there. Publix has built an enviable reputation and are without question my go-to supermarket whenever there is one in the area but I am traveling for business. It goes without saying that it is my go to supermarket at home, as well. Publix just does everything right. Of course, we can start with their deli and their great subs, affectionately called Pub Subs. But they also have great BOGO (buy one, get one free) deals and their customer service cannot be beat. Smaller, older store with superb check out team. What I love about publix is whether it's a large or smaller store, I can always find what I need from kosher soup mix to six varieties of tomato's and Pho rice noodles. What I don't care for is their prices. I would say they are on par with specialty grocers like Whole Foods etc. I got two bags of groceries with average items and my bill came to $79. Publix, I love ya, but you are charging almost 100% more on really average items like produce, a can of veggies and block cheese to name a very few items than your competitors. read more

Received awful service from the African American lady that checked me out she looked like mid twenties with curly hair in a pony tail. She was rude didn't say hi or just asked if I had anything, I thought I needed to get the razor heads unlocked that were right at the end of her register so I asked her. She looked at me told the bag girl to help me then made me get out of the line I had just waited In to get something right at the end of her register. Then let 2 people with full carts go ahead of me after I had just waited on 2 people to check out and she looked frustrated with me? I only needed that one pack of razor heads and needed the quickest help ever and was left really frustrated usually love public's the bag girl was nice tho. read more

The staff at this store is very friendly and like others have said, it is never very crowded. I really appreciated my awesome bagger Miguel. He was so methodical when it came to packing my bags. 4 solid stars for the customer service, always fresh produce, and quality meat here! From super friendly Maxine in the bakery offering a free sampler slice of their delicious freshly baked walnut berry bread, to the accommodating and kind meat man Mike in the back who keeps me informed of when they have ground pork for my lumpias, to all the fresh produce they keep well stocked - is what brings me back to Publix on this side of Madison. When it's that time when I need to prepare and roll up a lot of lumpias for an upcoming party or event, I'm always having to call around to see which stores have ground pork vs having to drive to each store only to be disappointed to find they're outta stock. Here at this Publix, they actually pick up the phone in the meat department and I'm greeted w the ever so friendly Mike who willingly updates me on their stock and prices. Sure I could probably spend my dinero closer to home but with this kind of service, I'll drive the extra miles for it. I will always shop here versus going to Walmart and dealing with those insane lines and what not. The reason I do not give a 5 star rating is because their selection on a few things I really enjoy buying are not here compared to going somewhere like Kroger, but the size can also impact. YOU GUYS NEED TO STEP IT UP! Normally, I really love shopping at Publix during vacation. However, this trip has been a bust from poor customer service in the Huntsville store to poor hygiene at this location.When I walk into a store of any kind, I do not want to see clutter and messiness and this especially bothers me in the kitchen area. When I entered the bakery department, I noticed that there is no wall separating the racks and clutter. It was just a mess and left me feeling a bit unsettled. Over at the deli counter I had my husband standing in so that I could get my favorite chicken wings. All was well until I saw the assistant grab a customer's chicken with gloves on, use those same hands to move over and prepare a ticket and then approach my husband to assist him. I snatched my husband away from the window and gave him a full report. No thanks! A gloved had means nothing unless you are changing gloves each time you move away from the food and decide to do something else. The only thing that I want to touch my chicken is sterile tongs that do not leave the dish. Don't be a dirty bird and change those gloves!! Eweeee! read more

Publix is a supermarket chain which is not around where I am from, so I'm getting to know them. You can always find BOGO deals on the shelves. I would like a "membership" card like other chains have, but I usually break about even so long as what they have on BOGO is what I'm looking for. Great staff though: friendly and helpful. read more

This review is for the deli/produce/bakery at the Hwy 20 Madison store. I hosted an after wedding brunch and instead of making everything myself, I supplemented and used Publix to help me with some of the food. I made an online order for a sandwich platter, mini-turn overs, fruit tart platter, and a large fruit platter. Each platter was beautifully presented, each tasted very fresh, and the platter sizes met my expectations. Everything tasted delicious! Thank you to those employees who made the platters!! Also, when we picked everything up early that morning, the workers in the store were very friendly and pleasant. read more

This is a much smaller Publix than typical but I am still always able to find what I need there and it's never very crowded. I love getting subs from the bakery and the staff is friendly and helpful. I couldn't ask for much more for a grocery store other than the size. read more

Went in tonight around 930 to grab a few groceries. When we had finished picking out our items we went to the register to check out where a man who was currently being checked out was upset he couldn't use a certain coupon. Upon realizing this man was not going to back down until he got what he wanted a young man who had already turned his drawer in quickly got back behind his register and informed the rest of the customers he could help them if they were paying with a card. The lady at the customer service desk did the same for the rest who had cash. After checking us out the young man went to tell the two girls who were talking with the upset gentleman to go ahead and give him the discount. I think the staff all handled this situation in very professional way seeing how my husband and I were quite angry with how this man was treating the staff. So for that..5 stars. Really wish I would've caught the name of the man who helped us. He deserves a raise. read more

Not a fan of this store.. I recently tried to get a cashier job at this location....it was one of the most unprofessional experiences I have ever had in my life... I recently moved back to the area and needed a job to get back on my feet...Needless to say they did not even consider me for a position and I wrote the corporate office about my experience...I received a nice/ nasty email from the store manager trying to explain his way out of the situation....Needless to say I will never again shop with Publix....This experience has taught me that Publix hides behind their "wholesome " image and they need to step up their game when it comes to their "hiring practices ". read more

Of all the Publix Super Markets in Madison, this one has the best overall customer service. The store is not as large as the other two, but they make up for it with their service. I make a point to go to this one even though one of the others is closer to my home. BOGO's rock! read more
