This all started back in September of 2021. My car overheated as I was pulling into work, so I took it to the closest mechanic, Gray's Service, to avoid causing further damage. They quoted me around $1,200 to replace the water pump, and I agreed. While the work was being done, they called and said that since the timing chain was already off, they recommended replacing it as well--for an additional $1,200. I did not have that kind of money. I was upset and called my dad, who went to the shop himself and told them to put the timing chain back as it was. When the job was finished, I was told my bill was $2,000, which was not what I had been quoted. I had to walk back to work to get the Post-it note where I had written down the original quote. After that, they honored the $1,200 price. Fast forward to December 2025, and my car began losing coolant rapidly. I took it to my regular mechanic, who confirmed that the issue was again the water pump. He suggested I call Gray's Service to see if the repair was under warranty. When I called, I was told they would need to inspect it, and if it was the water pump, it would be covered under warranty. I specifically asked when the water pump had been installed, and I was told September 2021. I was scheduled to bring the car in the next day. They confirmed it was the water pump--but then told me it was not covered under warranty because it had been four years. On top of that, they strongly pushed replacing the timing chain and quoted me $4,700 total. This directly contradicted what I had been told on the phone the day before. I declined the work. My mechanic quoted me $3,000 and advised me not to deal with Gray's Service again. I went in one last time hoping they would do the right thing based on what I had been told--but the outcome was exactly what I expected. My advice: go anywhere else. This is a horrible way to run a business. I gave them a first chance, I gave them a second chance, and I would never give them a third. Extremely disappointed. read more

We were traveling in the area and our truck broke down. We had the truck towed to Gray's based on a local recommendation. Once the parts were in, they were able to get the truck repaired. I would like everyone to know that I would never recommend this shop. I took my car to this shop with a solid engine light on my car. I was supposed to receive a call after they inspected my car on Monday in the morning, since they asked me to drop it off Sunday evening so they could look at it first thing on Monday, April 6, 2026. I called them on Monday evening to see where my car was in the process of the inspection for the estimate. I was told it was just going into the shop. No call on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. I called on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, because I had not received a call from them yet. I was told that someone from their shop called me. When asked what phone number the person said they did not have a phone number for me. I was told then to come pick my vehicle up and the vehicle was not fixable. I was never told about an estimate charge. The guy who I spoke with kept on pointing to a sign below the counter that said $49. ?? for estimates. The guy kept pointing to a sign in the lobby which I never saw because I dropped it off on Sunday, April 5, 2026, in the evening (which was not open when I used the key drop box). But the receipt says Labor $64.74 + $7.12 fees and estimate of taxes $3.77, which would total $75.63. He stated if I asked if there was a charge (normally the customer does not ask if there is a charge for an estimate, they are notified of the charge on the phone when they call by the company). I told the guy that I did not agree to the charge because I was never notified of a charge. He states, "are my guys supposed to work for free." In any business if there is a charge for something then it should be disclosed. So, he did not get payment. I go to drive the car, and it wants to die on me, and the engine is hesitating and the engine light is blinking on and off. When questioned about this, he states they only put it up on the hoist. I asked if he drove the car prior to placing it on the hoist. He states he never drove the vehicle prior to putting it up on a hoist (so none of the employees drove the car either????). Driving it from their parking lot into the shop to place it on the hoist would be considered driving the vehicle. The employee did not make any reference to the car having any issues from the parking lot to the shop. He claims that there are cameras in and out of the shop. After taking it to Gray's Service my car is shaking, wanting to die, black smoke came out of the tailpipe. According to the guy I was talking with my car was misfiring, and he claims that things happen and are just coincidences. Where they are coincidences or not the car was not misfiring, shaking, wanting to die and putting black smoke out the tailpipe. I told him my car was not acting like this when I dropped it off. I asked if he was willing to put it on a computer to see what code it was showing. He states it would be $150.00 charge plus He states if the car is not able to be driven what does that matter. He then threatens to have the car towed if it is not off his parking lot in an hour. I never received the estimate. read more

Consumer warning.... If you are in need of vehicle repairs, do not go here. We had a car in to them 4 times in a month, every time we drove out of the parking lot a new problem cropped up. They will not take responsibility for their poor repair jobs even after it was verified that the needed repairs were due to their technician errors. read more

I needed some tires mounted and balanced. Called and told me they could have them done within a few hours if I dropped them off right away. So I did and they called and said they were done only a hour later. Gave me a great deal since I dropped off only the wheels nad not the vehicle. Very good place to do business with. read more

I wish there was a button for a negative amount of stars. Worst customer service I have ever rec'd from an Auto Repair Shop. Had the vehicle for days. Picked up and was back in their shop the next day. I called because they are not good with checking in with customers and wanted the go ahead to dump tons of money into this car. While they were quick to diagnose the problem with my vehicle and get it in quickly to repair, they did not complete the job. They allowed me to drive off after paying a ridiculous amount of money with my lug nuts not tightened properly. When brought back to them they apologized but basically said it was a "man error". They said they would discount my next service. Good for them obviously because I won't be back. I could've gotten seriously hurt or worse... someone else. read more

Got a quote from another place in town for hundred of dollars of work and took my old truck to Gray's to see if they could beat the quote. They informed me that it didn't actually need the repairs the other shop quoted!!!! Who does that? Gray's did! So yes, I'm a fan. read more
