Our rental was owned by the resort (as opposed to being owned by an individual, which some cottages are). We found our rental very homey. It was spacious and layed out in such a way as to allow independent activities in different rooms that didn't impact the other person. The "resort" in mid-winter was quiet. The cottages are arranged close together, and it's easy to look into the windows next door. It's a tolerant jaunt to the beach and Rathtrevor Provincial Park, though not ADA accessible. If ADA access is needed to get to the beach, drive to the park from the resort (about one mile). The beach and park are outstanding in winter. The resort staff were very helpful and downright chipper. When we checked in, they kindly and patiently explained what was to us a unique style of accommodation (cottage rentals in a resort). Complaints and concerns expressed during our stay were graciously received, also. The kitchen was very good; plenty of accouterments and appliances. Note that the only food in the kitchen was salt and pepper. Bring spare paper towels and napkins. Washer and dryer worked great, and included one load's detergent. Bring detergent. The fireplace was either on or off, no adjustments. It heated the cottage quickly. We never figured out any of the three televisions' remotes, which didn't matter b/c we didn't want to watch TV. Could have been fresh batteries were needed; spares are recommended, as we changed the dead ones in the cottage clock. Beds were okay, with plenty of blankets. Bathrooms were fine with plenty of linens. Lots of closet and dresser space. Great layout in the cottage; very easy to move around.

After checkout, we got a bill for not stripping the beds, cleaning up and doing dishes. At no time were we told at booking that we would be charged for not cleaning up. This is first resort to charge you for not telling you that you will be charged. Definitely Not Going Back. We go to a resort to relax, Not to do housework!

It had a decent sized fridge with a freezer in top which I appreciated because we had a cooler with re-freezable ice packs. It also had a microwave and a keurig coffee maker with creamer, etc. The included breakfast, however, was marginal to bad. Overcooked scrambled eggs, a toaster that didn't work very well and took forever to make any toast at all. A waffle maker that a guest told me not to use because it didn't work. The fruit was precut up and soaking in sugar syrup. Not tasty. Aside from the breakfast we enjoyed our stay and would return.

Unfortunately, we did not receive great service from one of the front desk staff members and this plus the facility cleanliness leads to 4 instead of 5 stars.

The living area has a very, unabstructed view of the Straits and Van. Island. A sliding door opens to a deck with grill, table/chairs, lounge chairs and provided beautiful sunsets. Our room was elegant, peaceful with just the sound of the waves on the beach. We took pictures of an Eagle whom roosted nearby. Marsha was a wondeful host guiding us to restaurants, day trip locations, etc. Breakfast was fabulous, homemade and filling. I gave 5 stars as this place deserves it.

The waffles are to die for and the owners are very accommodating to your travel needs. We've arrived late at night and left very early and had no problems. I would recommend spending the extra money to book one of the front rooms as they both have sliding doors which open onto the porch where you can sit and eat your breakfast. It's literally right across the street from the ocean and very close to the pier and some shops.

First off, Roberts Creek has nothing and everything all at once. General store, a library, natural foods store, a couple of art galleries, awesome restaurant and cafe, a spa, yoga and of course - lots of water, a tranquil hiking trail and Gibsons and Sechelt really close by. The Clwyd Cottage was built by Phillip's woodworking students. The fireplace, antiques, clawed tub are the added touches that make it feel like someone's home. And the picture sitting window in the bedroom looking onto the beautiful gardens make it easy to escape the world, curl up and cuddle with a bottle of wine and a good book for hours on end. Ahhhh... (There's also a second room called the Turret Room, upstairs in the main house.) But it's the people that make this place so serene. Phillip and Sharon are lovely, kindhearted hosts with quiet voices and sincere smiles. They serve breakfast (your choice of traditional English, continental or the special and an "appetizer") at the dining room table or in your room. Tea comes in your own special pot and the company was delightful. Be ready for early mornings, breakfast is served until 9am... but you can be like me: eat and then crawl back into bed armed with a book and the same view of the gardens. Make sure you sneak peaks at the awesome stove: clawfoot, gas and convection, it looks old, but it's new and beautiful! If you don't like doilies, antiques and quiet time, this isn't your place. But if it's peace you're seeking, you might just find a little slice of it here. Sigh.

The hosts,…read moreSylvie and Will, go over and above all expectations to make you feel comfortable and at home in their luxury B&B. It seems that they are by nature open and receptive people, as we immediately felt welcomed. The location is a 3 min walk from the ocean. The Inn design and decor inspires calmness with it's clean lines surrounded by 5 story tall cedar trees. The Inn is built from cedar and that wonderful smell envelops you when you arrive; the windows are also framed in cedar- a very west coast look, the decor is Japanese Zen - including opaque 'rice paper-like' sliding doors between the kitchenette, the bedroom and the bathroom/spa rooms. I say bathroom/spa because it is like your own spa - but they do have an actual spa in the Inn with lots of great services-unfortunately we didn't make time to use them! The bathroom has double sinks, a steam bath shower- that's right, your own steam room in your bathroom!- and a tub for two or more with jet bubbles. The view from the bathtub, and the bed for that matter, is trees- just trees... you feel like you are in a tree house! There is a private patio for each room, ours had a glass roof, UV heater, bamboo water feature with pond plants, a love seat, chair and bistro table where we ate breakfast every morning. The breakfasts were filling and gourmet. The little touches such as a split basil leaf as a strawberry leaf on the berry garnish, allude to how much the hosts care about your experience. My gluten sensitivity was catered to without a hitch, nor did I feel like I was missing out because of it. We spend 3 nights there, could have spent a week. Although we were there in the summer- and the weather was perfect, I'd have no problem going there in the middle of winter as a retreat. I could have easily stayed in our room the whole three days- and that isn't just because I was on my honeymoon! ;-)
