Just got home from my appointment to get an endless piece! They offer bracelets, anklets, and necklaces. I opted for a necklace. They have a number of options for sterling silver and 14k gold plated as well as a few solid gold chain choices it was hard to choose which chain to get because they were all cute and so shiny. Aside from my indecisive nature the actual appointment was quick and the process was painless (literally and figuratively lol). I was able to browse around and also picked up a cutie middie (?) Ring. I've always been interested in wearing and styling rings on my fingers like the cool kids but it's hard to find size inclusive rings that are affordable and cute. I was happy to see that greyling went up to a size 14, and I'm sure they could make it happen for anyone who cannot find their size in store. Stumbled upon Grayling via social media ad several years ago advertising permanent jewelry. Booked an appt although still unsure about how 'permanent' it would be. Two years later and many many many hand washings and gloving/ungloving hands as a nurse, the two bracelets I got are still going strong with no issues (knock on wood)! I happened to be in Portland for a few days and wanted to walk around a few shops before heading to the airport. I happened to see Grayling permanent jewelry store and thought I would pop in to see what permanent jewelry looked like. I was very impressed with being greeted right away by this cute, friendly gal who showed me around. She was very knowledgeable and while I was in there a few other employees smiled and acknowledged me. I have been in the customer service industry for 50 years. 5 of those years was working at a jewelry store and that was one of our priorities to treat people the way you want to be treated whether they made a purchase or not. I saw this in the staff and thier friendliness to whoever walked in the store. They had excellent customer service skills. Since I was short on time and had to get to the airport and had told the sales gal that when I entered but she continued being sweet and helpful showing me the different pieces of jewelry knowing that I probably didn't have time to buy anything. Love this shop! Both the jewelry and the store have a simple, modern clean vibe. The jewelry is displayed like art along the walls and on tables against clean white walls making it easy to peruse the selection without distraction. There are beautiful pieces in all price ranges making it easy for anyone to pick up a treasure. They will even customize pieces for you. I drool over all of the chains and materials in the "workshop" area behind the counter where you can watch "New Jewelry Made Everyday" which is also the sign out front. While most pieces are not sterling, they are nickel free so anyone can wear them and it keeps the price point down. Many necklaces are 34" long and you can wear them doubled up so they fall along your collarbone or wear them long giving you versatility; they call this style convertible. Love. Most styles come in shiny silver, antique silver or gold allowing you to have the piece you want in the metal that works for you. The sales people are friendly, helpful and not intrusive. This shop is on my "rounds" meaning I regularly stop by just to see what's new. On those days, I don't want a sales person hovering over me and they are usually expert at reading this vibe. Highly recommend this shop whether you are buying for yourself, a friend, your bridal party, your wife - you will find a piece of jewelry that the recipient will treasure. I love my permanent bracelet! As seen in the photo, I chose a simple white gold endless chain. My boyfriend took me here for my birthday, which took a little preplanning on his part to coordinate the white gold. They do a great job providing detailed information on how to go about scheduling an appointment depending on if you prefer silver, gold or white gold. It's a bit to read, but it does clarify the entire process and ensures availability of your preferred chains. They recommend contacting them in advance if you have specific white gold interest as it's not something they keep large stock of. My boyfriend shared that Kate was really helpful in planning my visit, easy to communicate with via text, and wanted to ensure I enjoyed my birthday surprise. He had ordered two separate white gold bracelets for me to select one of or both. I preferred to start out with the small simplistic design, knowing I can always add another laying piece later. I live an active lifestyle, workout (sweat) regularly, and wanted to make sure a permanent bracelet didn't hinder any of my activities or bother me before I add another layer. I've only had it for two days now but so far, I love it, and don't see it getting in the way at all. I may or may not add another laying piece to my bracelet in the future, but am considering adding a simple permanent necklace in the very near future. This was a great gift! Everything is made there and you can see the jewelry-making set-up in the back. And, they can make anything longer or shorter at your request. Best friend made a second purchase and needed the chain shortened. There was enough chain left over that they threw a clasp on it and she essentially got a "free" bracelet. She sent them the necklace and they made the process easy and quick. With her paying the shipping, they did not charge her extra for the extension. She accidentally broke a part of the necklace when she received it back. She reached out and they were more than happy to take back and fix for her. My mom spoke to me and could not rave enough positive comments about how helpful, kind, and understanding they were.
